Do you have a question about this home or the local area?

Positioned directly on Dungeness's public beach, this former foghorn testing station has been fully renovated into a unique getaway for two. The nearby lighthouse's foghorn still works, although we much prefer the idea of waking up to the sound of the waves and seagulls. The sea is literally on your doorstep, and huge glass doors and a small terrace maximise the idyllic views. It's more of a studio than a one-bed, but we like the single-level layout. Although phone signal is patchy here and there's no proper TV, there is wi-fi for remote working and streaming. That said, the Bose speaker system, wood burner and teak bathtub are all you need to truly unwind.

Home truths

This single-level home is right on a public beach, so you may see people coming and going nearby – it's not the most private

Your host can provide a fold-up cot and high chair for free upon request

There’s free, on-site parking for one car – we suggest having a car to make exploring easier

Phone signal can be patchy here

There are no blinds on the bathroom window

Both baths require a high step to get in and out of them, and they take a while to fill up – they won't be suitable for less mobile guests

There isn't a TV here, but an iMac is provided for streaming

Be aware that the adjacent lighthouse may sound fog warning signals

The dining table doubles as a desk

About Camber

There are few places in the UK that can claim to be well known for just one thing. But this little village near the medieval town of Rye wouldn’t have existed if it wasn’t for its big claim to fame. On a stretch of coast known for its pebbly shores, its mile upon mile of sandy beach really stands out from the crowd. With views towards atmospheric Dungeness at one...
