A stone's throw from the centre of Grasmere, this beautifully converted barn is close to an array of local restaurants, pubs, shops, and galleries. The main bedroom enjoys a small balcony, and there's a garden with space for children or a well-behaved pet to play. The garden is quite steep though, and it's not fully enclosed so supervision will be needed. We think the location is lovely – not only are you an easy stroll from the village centre, but having a car with you opens up the surrounding area, including the majestic Lake Windermere and the famous Scafell Pike mountain.

Home truths

Not all bathrooms or outdoor spaces are photographed here, but we expect consistency in style and quality throughout this home.

There is space for up to three cars to park outside this home.

The garden is here steep and not fully enclosed, so children and dogs should be supervised outdoors, and the ground may be difficult to navigate for some guests.

There is a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom at this home, which may be accessible for guests with reduced mobility.

The traditional decor here might not be to everyone's taste. It feels a little dated in parts.

There are some low beams on the ceiling in the living area, so taller guests should be mindful.

About The Lake District

Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
