There’s so much to love about this cottage, but its location within walking distance to Crackington Haven Beach is what sets it apart. Just under half an hour and you can be on this lovely little cove with your pooch. This cottage has plenty of space to unwind in your private courtyard when you’re not going on a coastal walk or paddling in the water. Work on your tan, play fetch with your dog or sip on iced drinks at the dining table. The interiors are bright and cheerful, with period features like beamed walls blending with modern additions like the sunshine yellow tiles in the kitchen. Curl up in the armchair by the window and catch up on some holiday reading, and if you feel yourself nodding off, the bedroom is a wonderfully tranquil spot for an afternoon snooze. After a day of walking, make yourself a hot chocolate and warm your feet by the fire in the lounge.

If it’s scenic panoramas you’re after, you won’t be disappointed with this charming home. Once a 17th-century fisherman’s cottage, almost every room looks out over Mount’s Bay towards St Michael’s Mount and Lizard Bay. Wake up and breathe in the fresh sea breeze before heading downstairs to make breakfast, best enjoyed on the patio. As you sit in the morning sunshine, go over your plans for the day – will it be exploring the little lanes of Mousehole or surfing at nearby beaches? Whatever you decide to do, the cottage is a welcoming space to come home to. Wash off the sand in the outdoor shower (ideal for little paws) before sneaking in a luxurious dip in the tub before a hearty dinner by the fire.

The first word that springs to mind when you lay eyes on this home is ‘cosy’. Despite having five bedrooms, the cottage still feels snug and homely. Having said that, there’s plenty of room to socialise, whether you’re cooking together in the kitchen (there’s a delightful green AGA for keen chefs) or sinking into the plush armchairs that look out to sea. Our favourite spot is the well-stocked library, ideal for sneaking a quiet moment to yourself. On sunny days, head outside and sip on cold drinks in the courtyard. When you don’t feel like cooking, Mousehole is just a five-minute walk away, where you can enjoy fish and chips down at the harbour. To explore further afield, Penzance is a fifteen-minute drive away, or take one of the nearby cycling routes to soak up the views.

There are two double bedrooms and one twin room, although you may have to fight over the extra sumptuous main bedroom. You’ll want to have all your meals outside on the sea-facing deck, complete with a barbecue, but if it’s a little too cold, then the dining room is just as good. There’s also a plush sofa by the inglenook fireplace, best for board games and movie nights. Spend your days down on dog-friendly Hannafore Beach, where your furry friends can splash about in the rock pools at low tide. A twenty-minute drive north is Golitha Falls Nature Reserve with its enchanting woodland walks. Back in Looe, tuck into local dishes at one of the many dog-friendly pubs.

Amongst the original features like the exposed stonework and wooden beams, you’ll find creature comforts like rainfall showers and underfloor heating, making this a retreat for all seasons. While we love the breezy interiors with their high ceilings and natural light streaming through, it’s the garden that really stands out. Bordered by mature trees, you’ll have full privacy here to sunbathe, kick a ball about or get stuck into your favourite novel. Bring the wine from your welcome basket outside and spend the afternoon relaxing in the shade or taking in the scenery from the upstairs balcony. The small village of Cubert is a short stroll away where you’ll find a 16th-century pub and a smattering of coffee shops, while the year-round dog-friendly Holywell Bay is a five-minute drive away.

This 19th-century cottage is as handsome on the inside as it is on the outside. Step through the front door and be greeted by chic and stylish interiors. It all feels rather grown up, but the low ceilings, wooden floors and soft furnishings give it a cosiness you’d expect from a cottage. The kitchen diner was made for big family meals, while the snug lounge is perfect for lazing around in a food coma. On the first floor are three beautiful bedrooms, including one with bunk beds. There’s even a workspace on the landing, but seeing as the beach is only ten minutes away on foot, is there any point in getting the laptop out? Furthermore, Trelissick Garden is just a five-minute drive from here, where you can wander the gardens and admire the seascapes.
