The London Restaurants That Deliver in Lockdown

Here are just some of the great London restaurants offering alternative ways that we can enjoy them during lockdown.

You'll struggle to think of an industry that hasn't been affected by the current climate (we certainly have). Our beloved local haunts are having a tough time, but we’re deeply impressed by their creative, community-driven response to the situation. (And we all know how difficult we can be to please.) Our favourite thing is, of course, the unique way in which we can still enjoy, and support, our favourite foodie spots.

Here’s our guide to some of our favourite London restaurants that deliver or provide alternative services at the moment.

If you want to treat yourself to a flavoursome three-course meal, then look no further than Pidgin’s take-home menu, rather superbly named Homing Pidgin. With dishes like crispy fried pork pavé and burrata with smoked butternut squash to enjoy, we know what we’ll be ordering for the foreseeable.

Casa do Frango

Ever since opening its first restaurant back in 2018, Casa do Frango’s succulent piri piri chicken has been bringing a taste of Portugal to London. (Shame it can’t bring the weather too though.) Fortunately for fans like us, delivery options are still available from both its Shoreditch and London Bridge sites via food deliver app, Deliveroo.

The Oystermen

This much-loved little oyster bar in Covent Garden has transformed itself into a mini market brimming with fresh produce. You’ll find fruit and vegetables as well as a range of delicatessen produce in store, and there’s quality fish and meat available to order. (Now, you must promise to keep this between us, but they’re selling toilet paper too.)

Die-hard fans of these legendary steamed buns, listen up. Bao has just joined the group of restaurants that deliver with a new service called Rice Error. Rather than bao buns, though, the menu will be focused around rice boxes using chi sang from Taiwan. But don't worry, you can still find bao buns on the menu.

Yashin Sushi

Yashin Sushi is one of our favourite Japanese restaurants in London, so we were delighted to hear that its one of the restaurants that deliver, offering a very tempting takeaway set menu. Get in touch with them directly to arrange a delivery – the perfect treat.

50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo

Originally from Naples (the home of pizza, might we add), it should come as no surprise that 50 Kalò has been dubbed the “best pizza in London”. And great news, they’re still mastering the craft through takeaway and delivery services. Keep it simple with their classic Margherita. Or if you want something with a bit of spice, opt for the Diavolo DOP instead.

Borough Market

Loved by locals and tourists alike, Borough Market’s vendors are continuing to sell a wide range of British and international produce from their Southwark site. The market is operating with social distancing measures, allowing us to shop for our favourite ingredients whilst respecting the current climate. A job very well done.

There are a number of other restaurants across London, as well as our other cities, offering a similar kind of service. So it’s always worth getting in touch with your favourite neighbourhood spots to find out if they're one of the restaurants that deliver.

We’ll get through this together. Let’s keep supporting our much-loved locals (and let’s keep enjoying their great food too).
