The Oaks, Plum Guide home in Dorset

Meet some of the latest hosts across the UK to join Plum Guide's collection, and find out more about their remarkable homes and what exactly makes them Plum-worthy.

Hosts and Home: Claudia and Freddie - Wildflower Meadows, Devon

Claudia and Freddie became Plum Guide hosts in March with Wildflower Meadows. Freddie is a builder and Claudia owns a bespoke lingerie brand, and their home is an ode to their favourite things: fashion and food. So, if you're planning a family getaway in Devon, look no further than the two traditional 17th-century brick-built barns that make up their home. Tucked away at the edge of an expansive farm estate, these two glorious cottages have been lovingly restored and furnished with a contemporary flourish. The two living/dining rooms are bright and light, each with a woodburner and plenty of logs to keep things cosy, and with modern upcycled furniture to make you feel like you’re in a boutique hotel. Oh, and both feature well-stocked honesty bars. The cottages are set within three acres of private land made up of rolling green hills, flower-filled meadows and tree-studded, landscaped gardens. It's utterly idyllic and you’ll struggle to tear yourself away. With Wildflower Meadows, the duo has created a characterful and inviting space which they are excited to be able to share with likeminded guests.

Host and Home Maggie - The Oaks, Dorset

Maggie, who also joined Plum Guide in March, is an interiors obsessive and a seasoned host, whether that's for large photographic or film crews who often use her home as a location, or for overnight guests who take over the whole place. Either way, you can be sure of a warm welcome, a cosy atmosphere, and a bottle of something nice and cold in the fridge when staying at The Oaks. A home built to be lived in, it perfectly blends opulent furnishings and on-trend design with everything you might need to make for a comfortable stay. The high-end kitchen is the heart of the house, with sliding doors opening up onto an outdoor terrace – just perfect for an evening soiree. The living room has an open fire at each end, and Maggie has provided plenty of logs to keep you toasty during winter stays. Upstairs, the master suite is a delightful space, with a free-standing tub, powerful shower and cloud-like bed. The guest shower room doubles up as a steam room for that 'spa-at-home' feeling. But our favourite spot is the basement, playfully kitted out and complete with a comfy, oversize sofa and TV screen. Outside, there's even a small pool to dip in and out of on hot summer days. But we guess you're likely to be headed to the beach. The Oaks is just a seven-minute walk to Southbourne's, or a fifteen-minute drive to Bournemouth's main sands.

Wonderful countryside views just outside Rustic Vista

Wonderful countryside views just outside Rustic Vista

With their wonderful home Rustic Vista, Rich & Johnny became Plum hosts back in February. Affording exceptional views of England's green and pleasant land from the living room, their family studio is perfect for those looking to get away from city life and explore the lush, undulating countryside of Cornwall. Rustic Vista overlooks the scenic Oaklands Park, and is just a ten-minute drive from Polperro Beach and East Looe Beach. Situated in a former hotel, the apartment itself is embellished by beautiful wooden finishings in and around the kitchenette and living room. It has three beds in total – a king for parents and twins for children – all with super-soft 400-thread count linen. Perfect for resting those weary legs after hiking through the Cornish country.

Host and Home: Shelley and Dave - Emerald Lush, Home Counties

Shelley and Dave joined Plum Guide's host community in March 2021 with Emerald & Lush. They have lived in the Surrey Hills for over twenty years raising their family and now welcoming people to their home. They love walking, cycling, yoga and healthy living, but as Londoners, they also enjoy the city life. Before living in Surrey and as avid travellers, they lived abroad and visited the US extensively. Pulling up outside their gorgeous home, it's clear you're about to stay somewhere special. The mock-Tudor decoration, the red brick walls, and of course that pretty garden overflowing with greenery, means that the first impression of this home is of a stately country house, a feel that's reflected once you step inside. From the roaring fireplace in the sitting room, the glass conservatory, and the cheerful Aga in the farmhouse style kitchen, this home makes the most of traditional features without sacrificing on modern flourishes - the Sonos music system provides the perfect soundtrack for an evening spent in the spa-style hot tub in the garden. Shelley's home is in the village of Blackheath, moments from the heathlands that have made Surrey a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making this an ideal stay for any ramblers, cyclists, hikers - or really, anyone who appreciates beautiful scenery.
