But if you'd prefer to take it easy, Jumeirah Beach is reached by car in less than ten minutes.

Housed in a residential building overlooking JBR Beach and Ain Dubai, this apartment ensures a relaxing coastal stay. With plenty of communal facilities and direct beach access, there's really no need to venture too far from the complex. You can enjoy more views from the inside, too – we particularly love the outlook from the bedrooms. There are some excellent shared facilities here – check out the pool and the beach cabanas. You can also dine at the beachfront restaurant, entertain the kids in the play area and keep fit in the communal gym. Out and about, there are plenty of eateries and boutiques, but if you want to explore many of the city's attractions, you'll need to hop in a cab, hire a car or use public transport. Alternatively, you can let your host organise a private chauffeur or city tour for you.

Just minutes away from Dubai Mall, Dubai Fountain, and the Dubai Opera, this high-rise home places you in a prime position for exploring the city. Ideally suited to a couple or solo traveller, this fuss-free apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The highlight for us? It has to be the private balcony, affording sweeping city views, day and night. Add in communal amenities including a swimming pool and fitness centre, and you can’t go wrong with a stay here. 

Shimmering Skies

Situated on Bluewaters Island, this apartment places you in a prime spot,  just a short stroll from JBR Beach. From here, you'll also find The Walk, Ain Dubai, and The Palm Jumeirah within easy reach. Housed in a residential building, there's a communal swimming pool and an on-site gym for you to enjoy too, when you're not out exploring. While this might not be the most characterful place, the apartment is bright and modern, with a sofa bed in the living area for a third guest. The terrace is our favourite spot, with comfy outdoor furniture and sea views – it's the perfect place to relax after busy days in Dubai.  

Beach Dawn

Housed in a residential tower, this sleek pad is a great base for small groups with its shared amenities and central address. From here, you're a ten-minute walk from the Burj Khalifa and within easy reach of the Dubai Opera and the Dubai Fountain. Inside, the apartment's biggest draw is the private balcony, where you can escape the Downtown noise. The interiors are a little generic for our liking, although you'll find everything needed for a comfortable stay here – we especially appreciate the en-suite bathrooms. You'll also have access to the building's shared swimming pool and communal gym – ideal for filling the gap in between sightseeing ventures. 

Khalifa Dreams

Situated on Palm Jumeirah, this apartment is a great choice for solo travellers or couples in search of an easygoing stay. The apartment building lies directly across from Nakheel Mall, providing an array of dining options and shops. Of course, you'll be within easy reach of the beach here too. When you're not out and about, make the most of the shared on-site facilities, including an infinity pool and a gym. While the interiors are a little plain for our liking, the pad is set up nicely for long stays, with a fully equipped kitchen and laptop-friendly workspaces. There is also space for a third guest on the sofa bed in the living area. 

Sunset Simplicity

With unfettered views of the marina and the Dubai Eye from its private balcony, this sky-high apartment is the ideal base to return to after a busy day spent working or sightseeing. From a fully equipped kitchen to storage space in the bedrooms, a seamless stay is guaranteed here. Better still, you have access to a communal swimming pool and gym. We recommend hiring a car for getting around, and on-site parking makes exploring easy. You'll be pleased to know JBR Beach is less than a fifteen-minute drive away.

When you’re not exploring the city from the super-convenient location of the Marina, with direct access to the Marina Walk, you’ll love hopping from one beautiful pool to the other. The shared hot tub is a great touch, too. Despite having only two sofas, this pad has a dining area and a large kitchen space for socialising. Plus, the three bedrooms are all equipped with en-suite bathrooms and comfy beds – ideal for unwinding after a jam-packed day in Dubai.

Blue Skies to the Sea

Step inside this Downtown Dubai apartment and you’ll be drawn to the sweeping city views that take in the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain, best enjoyed from the private balcony. Having said that, the floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to enjoy the scenery from the open-plan living, kitchen and dining area too, so you can watch the city light up at night over a home-cooked meal. And while the vistas will have you keen to head out to explore, with a communal outdoor swimming pool and on-site fitness centre, there’s plenty to stay at home for, too.

Stepping out onto the private balcony, you can immediately see how central this apartment is. Tables and chairs out here look towards the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain. Endless shopping opportunities are available at the Dubai Mall, a short walk away. Within the building, a shared swimming pool and gym offer a chance to keep on top of your fitness schedule. True to the city’s glitzy reputation, the big, open living room shows off the city skyline from floor-to-ceiling windows and there’s more than enough room to entertain at the dining table. 

A City of Champions

Explore Dubai from your enviable location in the Souk Al Bahar neighbourhood. It’s the picture of Dubai luxury – the apartment building is even attached to Dubai Mall and the Timeout Market. The central location comes hand-in-hand with great city views, which you can enjoy from the balcony. The on-site gym, swimming pool, and games room are excellent touches, too. When you’re not making the most of the amenities or nearby shopping, your host can arrange tours and excursions. They can also help ramp up the luxury to an extra level by arranging for your apartment to be cleaned while you’re gone. While we think the apartment can fit all five guests, the only bathrooms are ensuite – it might not be a comfortable situation for the guest sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area.

Ritzy Ritz

This luxury villa lies on Palm Jumeirah, a few steps away from a private beach and with its own pool. The high ceilings and gorgeous artwork exude feelings of decadence, but railings and expensive ornaments mean it might not be the best place for young children. As well as plush king beds and a twin room, there's an extra bedroom with a bunkbed, suitable for a staff member. You'll find plenty of fantastic restaurants, supermarkets, and entertainment nearby, and public transport is within walking distance, so you can traverse Dubai with ease.

The Days of Summer

Check out those views. Located close to the beach while still within touching distance of the city, this Dubai department is a sun-soaked base with sea and city views seen through its large windows. The balcony is a nice touch that lets you step out into the heat, and we were especially fond of the sleek main bedroom – although the view was slightly obscured in this room, you can still overlook the harbour here. Nearby you've got the usual plethora of shopping destinations and eateries, and the building itself has distractions in the form of a gym, pool, and kid's play area.

The Gulf River

Enjoy the spectacular views from this apartment’s private balcony or relax inside – the vistas from the sofa are fantastic too. There’s an array of facilities to indulge in as well, such as a shared swimming pool, access to the complex’s beach and a health club. There’s more though – take advantage of the beauty salon, fully equipped gymnasiums, meeting rooms for hire and shops too. Out and about, some of Dubai’s top attractions such as the beautiful Dubai Marina, The Walk at Jumeirah Beach and Ain Dubai – the world's largest observation wheel, are all easily accessible from here too.
