Set just outside the alpine village of La Clusaz, this home offers a serene getaway whatever the season. Inside, you’ll find cosy pillows, throws and a fireplace to warm up after a day of skiing. Or maybe you’d prefer to soothe your aching muscles in the hot tub, under the stars? The ski bus stop is a mere 150 metres away when you’re ready to hit the slopes, and for non-skiers, you’ll find an ice skating rink, cinema, heated outdoor pool and a plethora of other activities in the village.

Alpine Nest

Situated on the fourth floor of a residential building, within ski-in/ski-out distance of the slopes, this super chic and modern apartment offers unmatched access to the upscale ski resort of Courchevel 1850.

The interior takes inspiration from traditional mountain design, with plenty of wooden cladding and stone accents that evoke the grand chalets found dotted throughout the resort. An open living area – with a sofa, dining table and well-equipped kitchen – is ideal for unwinding after an exhilarating day enjoying the outdoors. Make the most of bluebird days with a revitalising morning coffee out on the east-facing balcony, returning home after countless top-to-bottom runs to soothe your aching muscles in the sauna.

Snow-sure Courchevel is one of the most prestigious places to ski in the French Alps. Not only is it blessed with plenty of fast lifts and immaculately groomed pistes, but connoisseurs of fine French cuisine will enjoy its selection of Michelin-starred restaurants. At the same time, party animals can keep the apres-ski party going into the wee hours at its classy nightspots.

Head for the Chills

Offering guests an enticing mix of traditional mountain design and modern style, this chic three-bedroom apartment is the perfect family-friendly mountain escape. Whether you're visiting in the depths of winter in search of virgin powder or stopping off in the summer for breathtaking hikes and bone-shaking mountain bike trails, it's a true four-season escape.

While you won't find the ancient, gnarled beams of some of the vast chalets in this upscale French resort, its wood-clad walls pair perfectly with the mid-century-style furnishings and faux animal fur. The open layout provides a sociable sanctuary out of the elements. When the sun's shining, you're welcome to make the most of the spacious decking equipped with Acapulco chairs and a bubbling hot tub. Moreover, each of the three welcoming bedrooms offers its guests direct access to the deck, ideal for rushing back inside after a wintry dip in the water.

The apartment's location in Courchevel Moriond (formerly 1650) ensures easy access to some of the finest skiing in the French Alps, in the form of the titanic Les Trois Vallées. Meanwhile, the fact it's on the edge of this area means that the slopes are often quieter. After an adrenaline-fuelled day on the mountain, Moriond is known for its vibrant après-ski scene. In addition, it offers a variety of restaurants serving everything from homemade burgers to haute cuisine.

Ice Bear

This duplex apartment is pure Alpine bliss with a lengthy wooden balcony typical of Courcheval ski chalets and an interior of knotted pine wood and stone grey. The Scandinavian-style dining table is big enough for the whole group to gather for a post-slope hot drink and pristine, grey sofas are laden with faux fur cushions for that hygge feel. From the open-plan living area, glass double doors open up to the wooden balcony, letting the sunlight stream in during the day. Bedrooms continue the pine wood motif, creating cosy sleeping nooks for a good night’s rest before hitting the mountains on foot or by ski.

From the balcony, you can spot the slopes snaking down the mountainside, awaiting keen skiers. This place is in Courchevel Moriond (formerly known as Courchevel 1650). It’s a friendly village ski resort with slopes for intermediate skiers, and a wider selection of ski runs can be found throughout the Three Valleys, within driving distance.

A Blanket of Snow

Sitting in the heart of Alpe d'Huez resort, this third-floor apartment has direct access to the slopes and a south-facing balcony where you can take stock of the mountain views over a morning coffee. The lift makes arriving with skis and luggage straightforward, and the ski lifts are around 350 metres away on foot. Inside, the living space blends modern and rustic alpine design in a way that feels considered – natural light fills the kitchen, dining, and lounge area, making it a comfortable place to land at the end of a long day on the mountain.

Huez Light

There are views of Lake Annecy, the surrounding countryside and mountains from this three-storey home. With several balconies and terraces, an established garden and a pool, there’s plenty of outdoor space. This place is perfect for a family or group of friends – there's a games room with table football, darts and board games and a well-equipped kitchen, too. The fourth bedroom forms part of an apartment, with an open-plan kitchen, living room and dining area – ideal for those in the group who want more privacy. This home also has a sauna to relax in after a busy day of hiking or skiing. The location is great – Lake Annecy and the beach area in Talloires are nearby.

The Flying Dragon

Gather around the wood-burning stove, pull on a blanket, and let the mountains do the rest – this chalet in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is the kind of alpine retreat that earns its place on the shortlist immediately. Timber ceilings, an antler chandelier in the dining room, and a terrace with sweeping valley views set the tone, while a sauna and private gym make post-slope recovery as restorative as can be. There's also a Jacuzzi on the terrace. The Saint Gervais Le Bettex gondola is just under 2 kilometres away, with a direct bus connection from the door, and the village centre is a ten-minute drive – convenient and cosy, just how we like our ski retreats.

Saint-Gervais Scene

If you’re looking for a great location in Annecy, this home could be the one. Everything you need is on your doorstep, including cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as boutiques, lakeside beaches and cycle trails. Situated on Rue Perrière, the building is actually part of the historic city walls. The street runs parallel to the main canal, and the famous Palais de l’Île is just a short stroll away. In fact, you can see the Perrière Bridge from this home’s living room window. The wooden beams, floors and stone walls give this place a cosy feel. Also, your host has arranged a free secure parking space for guests in a nearby car park – a fantastic bonus in this pedestrianised town.

The Swan

With stunning views across Mont Blanc, this home opens its doors to a dreamy Alpine adventure. You can savour the fresh mountain air from the balcony or get cosy by the fire in the living room. There’s a home theatre for movie nights and all six of the bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms for extra privacy. You’ll also have a boot room for ski storage and there are a range of extra services abatable like chefs and massage treatments to ensure your stay is unforgettable. Plus, it’s just a short drive to the the heart of Combloux and the slopes.

Mont Blanc Magic

This Megève home is perfect for larger families or groups, whether you’re here for a ski trip or to explore the village’s cobbled medieval streets. A ski bus stop is just steps away, with the village and ski lifts only a short drive. Set within a complex, you’ll have access to indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna and hammam, a kids’ playground, plus a bar and restaurant on site. The home itself is spread over two levels and includes two private balconies with views of Mont Blanc. Some bedrooms open onto patios, and there’s a separate studio with its own kitchenette for guests wanting some extra independence.

Alpine Interlude

With floor to ceiling windows wrapping around half of the living, dining, and kitchen space, this Courchevel cabin is nothing like what you’d expect from an ordinary ski lodge. High enough up that you can get a real appreciation for the sprawling slopes of the Courchevel mountain and the rest of the Les Trois Vallées, this particular cabin is less rustic homeliness and more luxurious comfort. The furniture – carefully selected – is brought to life by decorative touches like the statement chandelier above the dining table. Right here, coincidentally, is where you can eat every meal, mesmerised by the beautiful views just beyond the pane of glass.

Warm wood and soft lighting will welcome you home after a long day out on the slopes, located right next to the accommodations, and we encourage a long soak in the tub and freshly-brewed coffee as the ultimate tonic to stave off the chill the piste might have brought on.

Head out for a slice at the pizzeria minutes away and when you return, warm milk on the stove for steaming cups of cocoa to accompany a family movie night. Play charades, read in companionable silence, and enjoy each other’s company before retiring for the night.

We recommend watching at least one sunrise from the balcony – wake up before dawn to make a cup of coffee and stand out, wrapped up against the cold. And if mornings aren’t at all your thing, then settle for a glass of wine at sunset.
