It's the perfect spot to kick back and relax after a long walk through the gardens and the open layout makes it easy to socialise while others rustle up a meal in the French farmhouse-style kitchen. During the summer, head out to the terrace overlooking the courtyard for a cup of tea or evening tipple, surrounded by lush potted plants and pretty flowers. But the best part of this home is the access to the Gotha Gardens. Stroll among the greenery, stopping to smell the roses and nibble on a slice of cake in the courtyard cafe. When you can pull yourself away from this verdant hideaway, it's only a quick drive to Ashwell – home to beautiful architecture and three county pubs – and stately homes like Wimpole Hall and Knebworth House are easily reachable. Tucked away down a peaceful lane, and with the added benefit of private outside space, in just a few paces you'll find yourself on the vibrant high street of this medieval market town, where there are plenty of quirky shops and charming pubs to discover. The picture-perfect village of Bibury is just ten minutes down the road - here you'll find a honey-coloured array of cottages that overlook a Thames tributary, some of which house quaint traditional tea rooms.

English Garden Tranquillity

A detached annexe in the peaceful Cambridgeshire countryside, this modern retreat invites guests to relax, unwind and reconnect with nature. 

Set in the garden of the owner's house, you'll have completely private access to this one-bedroom annexe featuring an open-plan kitchen and living area as well as joint access to the shared garden. With optimal space and contemporary finishings throughout – you'll find comfort and practicality in each and every room. 

From the home, you'll be within easy reach of the local train station at Huntingdon, just a seven-minute drive away. Meanwhile, a day excursion to St Ives is just a seven-minute drive away and the city of Cambridge is only a thirty-minute car journey away.  





Lifting You 

Nestled along the River Nene, this Grade II listed building offers a tranquil escape in the heart of Oxfordshire. Right on the river bank, this traditional mill house dates all the way back to the 18th century, boasting plenty of English charm thanks to large bay windows and green gardens. 

Speaking of the garden, this is a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee and watch the swans glide along the water. Once you're feeling refreshed and ready to explore, head into the local village to admire the thatched-roof cottages and quaint churches, or take the dog for a walk through the rich woodland of Bernwood Forest. Of course, no trip to Oxfordshire would be complete without a trip to the prestigious Oxford Univeristy – the Botanic Garden in particular makes for a relaxing afternoon. 

However you choose to pass the time, you'll always have a cosy home to come back to. Summer evenings were made for barbecues on the patio, followed by a glass of wine around the fire pit. When the weather turns chilly, head indoors to cosy up with a cup of cocoa in front of the fireplace, followed by a bubble bath in the beautiful roll-top tub.

In the winter or autumn months, the living room warms up with the heat of the fireplace, creating a cosy haven to spend your evenings. When the sun shines on the stone exterior, sit out on the dreamy garden table next to the water. Idyllic and peaceful, it's a serene spot to tuck into breakfast or just sit with a glass of wine. 

If you fancy heading out of the home, Baston is formed by scenic walking trails along the river. If you're taking your dog, they'll love the open green spaces and woodland areas.

For the days where you fancy some urban comforts, Peterborough and Stamford are just a short drive away. Stamford is a postcard-picture town – cobbled streets are lined with homely pubs and authentic cafes. Spend a day perusing the shops, exploring the market and sipping a beer in the pub garden.

The house is an eight-minute drive to the town of Thame. It’s at the foot of the Chilterns, so if you fancy stretching your legs there are lots of walks for you to enjoy. Otherwise you can spend your time strolling around the town, shopping in the markets that are held several times a week, and admiring the medieval, Georgian and Victorian architecture. 

If you’re anything like us, though, you’ll find it hard to tear yourselves away from this home. Your every need is catered for here so you’ll be in the lap of luxury. Open up the bi-fold doors to the garden in summer and dine alfresco, enjoying the outdoor space. Soak away your troubles in the magnificent bathtub, before slipping between the softest sheets. You’ll never want to leave.
