Positioned in the historic market town of Godalming, just a three-minute drive (fifteen-minute walk) from the town centre and a thirty-minute drive from the South Downs National Park, it offers an idyllic base for exploring Surrey's breathtaking natural beauty.

A masterclass in colour theory, the interior exudes an artisan ambience with its vibrant aesthetic, art-clad walls and eclectic array of stylish decor and vintage touches. Crittall doors usher in floods of sunlight while offering perpetual glimpses of the leafy exterior, and we love the open-plan living space. With its free-flowing layout and contemporary comforts, including an equipped farmhouse-style kitchen, it's primed for relaxation. Here, floor-to-ceiling sliding doors reveal the patio. After a restful night's sleep in the sumptuous bedrooms, step outside and sip your morning coffee here, awakening from your slumber to birdsong and the symphonic rustling of leaves. 

This home's beautifully equipped half acre of grounds beckons you to unwind in the splendour of your surroundings. The lush garden is nestled in a cocoon of dense foliage and pruned-to-perfection hedgerows, promising privacy. We especially love the swimming pool. Bordered by plush sun-loungers and a summerhouse, it's a lovely space for relaxing come rain or shine. Look out the kitchen window and you might spot Nellie and Maggie, the shaggy Shetland ponies whose paddock is twenty feet away. Feel free to give them a carrot or two! 

The cottage is on a farm run by your hosts. You are surrounded by the great outdoors here, and you’ll have direct access to footpaths and bridleways which take you through the farm and out into the picturesque countryside beyond. As you walk out, stop by the Stud house, where you can say hello to the native ponies in their stable. The village of Billingshurst is a four-minute drive away, where you’ll find a supermarket and some local country pubs. Pay a visit to the Nyetimber vineyard, a fourteen-minute drive away, and pick up some of their excellent sparkling wine. After a day of exploring, there’s nothing better than enjoying a glass of bubbly back at home as the sun sets over the fields. 

Stud Cottage

Designed by the owner who works as a professional interior designer, the vibe of this home merges contemporary comforts with quirky vintage kitsch, inviting guests into a unique space that escapes the mundane. The maximalist aesthetic retains many ornate Victorian features, while the home's furnishings carefully combine bold colours with rich textures. From the ruby red velvet couches to the olive green walls of the kitchen and dining space – this home presents bags of character inspired by the laid-back bohemian surroundings of the locale in Southsea.

Positioned just one mile away from Gunwharf Quays and its outlet shopping, an abundance of shops, eateries and the cinema – there's plenty to keep you occupied when staying in this part of Portsmouth. After a day of shopping or relaxing on the beach, complete your quintessential British seaside experience by picking up some fresh fish and chips to serve up at the dining table, or if the weather is being kind – at the alfresco dining area in the garden.

Nestled into the rolling hills of the South Downs by Amberly Wild Brooks, this home blends rustic living with an incredible range of modern luxuries to create a unique space that inspires you to slow down and spend time with your loved ones. Boasting 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape, a meditation pod, a sundeck, and private bluebell woods, we can’t think of a better place to unwind. Head out to the hills to explore the impressive sceneries (host Jemma also offers bike rentals), then come home and soothe your aching muscles in the wood-burning hot tub. Jemma also offers a menu of wellness retreat packages at an extra cost (think along the lines of yoga and pilates classes, sound baths and meditation instructors). And if you want to learn a new skill, you can also book vegan and raw food cookery courses – there are even creative tutorials in things like art and photography. Pulling up outside this gorgeous home, it's clear you're about to stay somewhere special. Situated only a thirty-five-minute train ride away from central London, this house is one of the most convenient countryside spots you'll find. The home is in the village of Blackheath, minutes from the heathlands that have made Surrey a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making this an ideal stay for any ramblers, cyclists, hikers – or really, anyone who appreciates beautiful scenery. 



Emerald & Lush

One of a collection of three cottages on a thirteen-acre working farm in West Sussex, this home is nowhere near as rustic as these details might suggest. Step behind the front door and you'll find an interior that's contemporarily styled with a few quirky touches.

The stark white walls and sleek tiling make for a blank canvas against which the colourful cushions and hand-painted kitchen chairs really pop off. As well as that, the modern grey kitchen and pristine bathrooms are a world away from the back-to-basics country cottages that pepper the map in these parts – the rolltop bathtub in particular is sure to make a lot of guests very happy.

When the weather's on your side, there's a private outdoor space with an alfresco table and barbecue, but it's also lovely to wander about the shared parts of the site. The hosts run a private stud and breed native ponies, so if you're lucky, you might see a foal or two during your stay.

The home is blessed when it comes to location, sitting almost equidistantly between South Downs National Park and the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – as you might imagine, there's a wealth of walking routes to embark upon that start straight from the farm or just a short drive away. The seaside isn't too far away, either – you can get over to Worthing in just over half an hour in the car. 



Mane Character

Walking out your front door onto the beach is a novelty you'll never tire of at this Victorian period apartment perched right along Seaford's Esplanade.

For all the apartment's period grandeur and charm (think soaring ceilings and original wooden flooring), the apartment is expertly reimagined for modern living. There's a log burner fireplace for chiller evenings, lighting fast Wifi for those working remotely (if you must), and heaps of contemporary style with unique artwork and an array of houseplants bringing the space to life.

But it's the uninterrupted sea views taking all the glory here – best seen from the living room's bay window, savouring a freshly brewed morning coffee from the pod machine. Or grab a deck chair and nip over the road to the beach to decamp for a while. It's an afternoon well spent with its gently sloping shores, colourful beach huts, artisan ice cream sellers, and playground nearby.

Away from the beach, Seaford's pace of life is much slower than its party cousin, Brighton (half an hour drive along the coast). Spend days hiking over the South Downs (or, for the adventurous, parasailing) and exploring the nearby charming Sussex villages of Alfriston and East Dean (both just a ten-minute drive). Or stay local in Seaford to mooch about its galleries and shops. Just be sure to make it home for dusk – the sunset views are spell bounding.

Seaford Rocks

If it’s a relaxing, seaside getaway that you seek, you’ve hit the jackpot here. Simply step outside of your home and find yourself in front of the glittering south coast, breathing in the fresh sea air. It doesn’t get much more coastal than this. Here, you can start your days with invigorating walks along the beach, take early swims, or simply spend time by yourself on the pebbles.

Inside, you’ll find a warm and homely interior that’s been thoughtfully designed for you to feel at ease. There are subtle nods to the seaside surroundings, taking inspiration from the natural beauty, with earthy tones, blue hues, and atmospheric artwork. Not that you need reminding – the sparkly blue sea is in full view. 

If you’re not admiring the view with a cup of coffee or curled up in the conservatory with a good book, you’ll love spending your mornings in the sunny garden. Gather around the outdoor table for a hearty breakfast, letting the morning drift into the afternoon while you unwind on the sun loungers. 

If you get itchy feet, there are plenty of ways to fill your days. When you’re not relaxing on the beach, you can find a spot for surfing, paragliding, kite surfing, and more. West Sussex is full of fun watersport activities, or you can explore Selsey and the nearby towns on land. After a fun-filled day, be sure not to miss the sun dip into the English Channel at dusk. 

Channelling the Sea

This pretty farm building conversion offers all the independence of a private cottage with its own garden, with the added bonus of communal grounds where children can run free. Ideal for families, it's part of a small complex of similar homes just a five-minute walk from the nearest beach. Comfortable and smart, the single-storey cottage shows off its heritage with a stable door, high ceilings, oak beams and skylights, while the open-plan living space is perfect for keeping an eye on the kids as you whip up meals in the country kitchen. Bedrooms are cosy and relaxing, and we love the double doors that open out into the garden from the master bedroom. Outside, make use of the barbecue in your enclosed garden, or take the kids to the communal play area. With a fort, swings and a sunken trampoline, it's bound to be a hit. Walk to some of the area's best beaches from your doorstep, stroll to the local pub and head off on all sorts of adventures around the island by car.  

Bay Cottage

Although this three-storey home was only built in recent years, much of the interior design takes inspiration from retro trends. Many of the furnishings are mid-century in style and there are 1970s flourishes peppered about in the form of overhanging metallic lamps and swirly feature walls in the living rooms. That being said, the pristine white kitchen is as modern as they come, as are the bathrooms. Outside, guests get the benefit of not one, but two terraces, with space to cook, eat and relax. The location gives plenty of options for excursions in the great outdoors, too. It's possible to get on a footpath running alongside the River Adur in less than a minute on foot which is a great base for kayaking and paddleboarding, and leads to a 37-mile long track through the South Downs National Park. Shoreham Beach is a mere ten-minute walk via the high street which boasts an abundance of pubs, restaurants and shops, and the Brighton seaside only takes twenty-three minutes to reach in the car.
