If you're looking for a get-back-to-nature escape, then this Victorian-era lodge in the Scottish Highlands is perfectly suited. Located in the heart of picturesque Portpatrick, you'll have plenty of glen walks, forests, beaches, lochs, gardens and waterfalls on your doorstep, not to mention a delightful cottage to call home. Upon arrival, signs of splendour are plentiful at the historic Dunskey Estate, with chimney spires overhead and paving stones underfoot. Your host settles you in with a hearty breakfast and slippers provided, so cosy up in front of the fire and say cheers to old-world grandeur. We love the frolicking fauna and novel palettes that give off an air of elegance from the moment you step over the threshold. Oversized prints consume original walls, while velvet cuddle chairs, antler chandeliers and Suzani-inspired medallions combine for an eclectic aesthetic. Come evening, head out into the paved garden, light up the firepit for a grilled dinner, and sip bubbles while breathing in the unspoiled, rural air. Outside of your home, Portpatrick's harbour and golf course are a short five-minute walk, while the Dunskey Castle is a twenty-minute stroll up the coast. That's if you'd ever want to venture out beyond this stately sanctuary of pastoral pleasures. 

Red Deer Of Dunskey

Sitting on the southwest coast of Scotland, this home provides the perfect escape for families and friends. Think squashy sofas, a cosy cottage-like kitchen and a crackling fireplace to unwind with a wee dram at the end of the day. The woods immediately beside the lawns close to Corsewall House and just a few minutes’ walk from the cottage are a dedicated children’s fun zone. The private garden provides a lush playground for children (and adults) complete with an 18-metre zip wire, a climbing frame, a slide as well as three swings. It is the perfect spot for parents to relax with a spread of local foods and perhaps a drop or two to drink while the kids play – picnic anyone? And if that wasn't enough, the kids can also bounce their hearts out on the 14-foot trampoline by the edge of the lawns. There's even a campfire area in the woods for toasting marshmallows. Beyond the site, the local area also offers plenty to keep the whole crowd busy, from sprawling coastlines and colourful fishing towns to aristocratic homes – your most difficult decision will be choosing where to visit first. 

Forest's Edge

With a characterful and contemporary design, this two-bedroom home is located in Belfast’s Ballyhackamore neighbourhood. Just a short drive from the city’s eclectic restaurants, shops, cafes, and cultural institutions, this is an ideal spot to call home. The open-plan layout makes the living areas feel sociable, and though the bedrooms are on the smaller side, they’re stylish and comfortable. The cosy lounge, complete with a fireplace, is a highlight in our eyes – where better to unwind after a day out exploring The MAC and St George’s Market?

Palm Blush

Situated right in the heart of Belfast, with gorgeous views of the Titanic museum, this bright and welcoming townhouse is an ideal place to base yourself while you explore all that the city has to offer. 

The interior emanates is filled with warm natural light, and we love the thoughtful touches and cosy furnishings, which make you feel instantly at home. Kick off your shoes and enjoy a glass of wine on the sofa, or settle in for a movie night – with both Netflix and Amazon Prime you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. The sparkling kitchen invites you to put together a quick meal which you can enjoy at the dining table – this is also a great spot for catching up on some work on your laptop. 

Factor in the luxuriously comfy bedrooms, with their soft, neutral colour pallet, and the light-filled modern bathroom and we think you’ve got everything to make your stay extra relaxing. 

When you’re ready to explore, you’ll find yourself in the best possible location, with the city centre on your doorstep, and countless options for shopping, dining and entertainment at your disposal. 


Heart of the Ocean

Tucked away in the grounds of a 2,000-acre coastal estate, this quaint cottage and its enchanting surrounding are plucked from the pages of a storybook. Inside, the home oozes elegance with plush fabrics and romantic cherry blossom hues. When we stayed, we were smitten with the Japanese rice-paper screen, mother-of-pearl headboard and the underfloor heating that kept our toes toasty after long yomps through the grounds. While the kitchen is fully stocked with accoutrements for rustling up your favourite dinners, call upon your host’s head chef to deliver a Michelin-quality meal straight to your table. After a cup of tea in the sunshine on your quiet patio, pull on your walking shoes and explore. You’ll find secret waterfalls, lochs and a maze right on your doorstep. Jump in the car and take the eight-minute drive to Killantringan Lighthouse or if you’re feeling brave, plunge into the brisk Irish Sea at Knock Bay Beach. Return back to your bolthole in the late afternoon to catch the last of the sunshine; set up the lanterns in your courtyard, pour a glass of prosecco and sink into the outdoor bathtub beneath the blooming camellia tree. Bliss.

Under The Camellia Tree

Offering stunning sea views across Loch Ryan near Kirkcolm in southwest Scotland, this garden cottage is the perfect country and coastal retreat to get away from it all and immerse yourself in beautiful, pristine nature. The home is part of the 18th-century Corsewall Estate surrounded by twenty acres of woodland and gardens – all for you to enjoy. From snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells in the winter and spring to a riot of colourful rhododendrons and azaleas in summer, you’ll be instantly struck by the vibrancy of your locale with countless walking and cycling routes around them to explore. Inside your home, a picturesque living room is arranged around a wood-burning fireplace, ideal for curling up with a glass of wine and some board games. The sunny kitchen, meanwhile, is all set to get mornings off to a hearty start over breakfast or afternoons snacks courtesy of the homemade brownies, milk, bread, jam, butter, tea and coffee provided. We love the country bedrooms with their floral touches and large windows proffering views across the gardens and towards the Loch, while the en-suite tubs invite long, luxurious baths after a day in the great outdoors. With a private garden equipped with a barbecue and croquet set, you can spend lazy afternoons having fun in the sun, or head to the nearby woods where a campfire beckons ghost stories over toasted marshmallows under a blanket of stars – your host even provides a tent and roll mats should you wish to snooze amidst the trees (all you need is your sleeping bag).  Factor in the estate’s dedicated play areas that offer a zip-wire, a climbing frame, swings, and a trampoline and there’s more than enough fun for the whole family. Boat Bank Beach is also a short walk down the estate’s drive and Lady Bay – a shell collector’s dream – is a ten-minute drive away.  Further afield, the charming fishing village of Portpatrick is also only twenty minutes away by car. 

Gaelic Stone

Want to be right in the hustle and bustle of Belfast? This apartment is in the middle of it all, with St. George's Market and the City Hall just a stroll away. We love the bright open-plan living area, splashed with pops of sunny yellow and a comfy sofa to unwind after a busy day. The kitchen is well-equipped, though there’s no dining table, the breakfast bar works perfectly for quick meals. With Belfast’s incredible selection of restaurants just steps away, you’ll likely be eating out most of the time anyway. 

Dublin Road Hideaway

Right in Belfast’s vibrant Cathedral Quarter, this pad is on the doorstep of the city’s bars, restaurants, music venues and cultural institutions. Inside, you’ll find a space that prioritises function and comfort – the well-equipped kitchen invites you to put together home-cooked meals, while the kitchen bar is great for catching up on some work. And while the balcony is only a Juliette, you’ll make the most of the city views at every opportunity.
