This trendy villa faces the sea, and you'll soak up glittering views of the Mediterranean from almost every room. Wake up to coastal views from both bedrooms, while in the living space, glass windows ensure you're soaked in sunshine all day. The interior design is decidedly contemporary (think sleek concrete floors) with a touch of Greek heritage, such as in the warm wooden furnishings and ceiling beams. However, we don't think you'll be spending long indoors considering what's waiting for you ouside - an extensive patio area with a swimming pool, sun loungers, and hammocks, all facing the sea. You could easily spend all day here, starting your day with breakfast at the outdoor dining table and finishing with a barbecue as the sun goes down. You can't leave Greece without taking a dip in the Med though, and it's just a short stroll to Lachania Beach. We'd also recommend driving to nearby Gennadi, which hosts beach parties during the summer and is home to quaint Greek tavernas. If history is your calling, it's just a 30-minute drive to Lindos where you can visit the incredible Acropolis. However, we understand if you choose to spend all day on your own patio, lazing on a sun lounger with a book and enjoying drinks as the sunsets.

Set on the outskirts of Salakos village, in the lush foothills of Mount Prophitis Ilias, it's a high-end villa surrounded by rich agricultural land. Olive groves, walnut trees and nearby glasshouses producing fruit and vegetables make this a slice of rural heaven, and every morning you'll be brought fresh produce, olive oil, eggs and bread from the farm.

Away from it all but just a fifty-minute drive from Rhodes Town, here you'll be able to experience a slower pace of life. Bask on your enormous deck, find a shady spot beneath the palms in your private garden or swim and play all day in your pool. An elegant and charming home, it's been built in the traditional style with plenty of character – think vaulted ceilings, bare stone walls and plenty of natural wood. It sits perfectly in its serene surroundings. 

Our pick of the rooms has to be the main living room here. With its open layout and fabulous high ceilings, there's something quite Hollywood about it. We love the leather sofas, the sleek, black kitchen and the green-framed window walls. But there's much more to explore, with a second living space and three beautiful bedrooms. There's even a home gym if you're feeling like some exercise.

In the evenings, light the barbecue and eat outside under the stars, or head into the village (where you'll find a couple of small eateries) or to the coast at Kamiros Beach for dinner in a seaside taverna. And there's plenty to explore locally too – don't miss a visit to the butterfly valley, the seven springs and a chance to go wine tasting.

Lindos is just a twenty-minute drive away, and there are plenty of other beaches to discover nearby.

This villa, set on a complex, is around a thirty-second wander from the crystal clear waters of Gennadi Beach. If you want to explore further, Lindos, with its charming streets packed with eateries and boutiques, is twenty minutes in the car. For history lovers, it’s just a few minutes more to Lindos’ stunning Acropolis and the Temple of Athena Lindia.

Or you may just want to unwind on hot, sunny days by this villa’s sparkling pool surrounded by whitewashed walls and greenery – we wouldn’t blame you. One of our favourite features is the glazed inner courtyard, where giant cacti, volcanic rocks and the little matter of an indoor palm tree make quite a statement. Bedrooms are all bright and comfortable, with some opening straight onto the terrace, while one has a mezzanine level and its own seating area.  

Just a twenty-minute drive from Lindos, known for its fabulous restaurants and nightlife, you'll also be a fifteen-minute drive from the windsurfing beach at Prasonisi, with supermarkets even closer. Best of all, you're just a five-minute drive from one of the island's most famous beach bars.

Situated on Rhodes’ eastern coast, within a short drive of Afandou Beach, is this family-friendly apartment. Pick up a selection of local produce in town (Afantou is within walking distance) to grill up on the barbecue and enjoy an afternoon swim in the private pool. After a day of frolicking in the sea, head into Lachania, where you’ll find alfresco tavernas and laid back restaurants in the tree-lined square serving Greek and Italian fare. The stars here are beautiful, and there’s no better way to enjoy them than soaking in the hot tub back at home.

With plenty to do nearby, this beautiful home sets you up to explore all that Rhodes has to offer, but how much of it you’ll see hinges on your ability to leave this home behind. 

Afandou lies minutes away, waiting to accept beach lovers with deep-blue water and golden sand. The iconic Rhodes Acropolis is a must-see and only on the other end of a short drive – and so is the famed Butterflies Valley. Much closer to visit is the Seven Springs, where you can find a restaurant hidden within a forest named for its seven springs. If you’re not eating there, you might stop at the taverna along the way for an authentic greek lunch.

If you’re spending the day at home, we recommend lazy mornings in the sunshine with a good book or a sketch pad. Play games of Marco Polo in the private swimming pool and let the wine and conversation flow as you tuck yourself away in the shade of the covered terrace. Light the fire around lunch and grill octopus with veggie skewers that you can enjoy al fresco at the outdoor dining table.

You can hear the waves of Lothiarika Beach from the private garden of this Rhodes villa. Peering through the wrought-iron gates, sea and sand are right in front of you. Spend days building sandcastles and paddling in the crystal shallows, safe in the knowledge that you only have to walk a few paces home if you forget the sunscreen or towels. It’s a three-minute drive to Lardos where a handful of restaurants and a local fishmarket await, or make the short drive to Lindos where donkeys still plod up and down the cobbled streets.

Should you tire of the beach, days can be spent by the side of your private pool, stretching out on the slender stretch of lawn or reclining on the rattan sofa.  A couple of sunloungers are shaded by a parasol, and you can hear the sound of the sea from here.
