Just a short walk from the pretty village of Keri Lake, famous for its stunning nearby sea caves and the turtles that nest on its beach, this new, stone-built villa is the perfect combination of modern luxury and a green, natural setting. Overlooking the sea and set in beautiful grounds with mature trees, lawns and terraces, it's the ideal space if you're looking to stay in this quiet part of the island.

Inside, it's spacious and cool, with natural tones, tiled floors and vaulted ceilings. The open-plan living area has comfy sofas, an extremely well kitted out kitchen and a dining space, with huge sliding doors that open it right up to the incredible pool terrace. Here you can swim in the crystal-clear infinity pool with uninterrupted views of the sea and the rocky islands offshore.

But while the pool is this home's star attraction, it's far from the only thing we love about it. There's a hot tub to relax in and a children's play area to keep smaller guests entertained, along with an outdoor yoga area (we're imagining sun salutations with superb sea views) and a fabulous outdoor kitchen where you can barbecue every evening if you feel like it.

There's plenty to do in the area too, and you can easily hire a boat to visit the caves and the nearby lighthouse for perfect snorkelling and unbelievable sunsets.

Drive five minutes to Keri Beach, also known as Keri Lake, and rent a pedalo to drift along the blue waters before returning to the coast to rest on the loungers or swim in the turquoise sea. Keri Lighthouse is a bit further away, situated on the edge of a rocky cliff around 300 metres above sea level. The Myzithres, two white towering rocks coming from the sea named after the cheese Myzithra owing to their form resembling this cheese, can be seen here. Finish the evening with a glass of red wine at a neighbouring restaurant viewing the sea at sunset.

Keri Beach can also be reached in a five-minute walk and is fantastic for long, lazy beach days. We highly recommend visiting Zakynthos city centre, which can be reached in a twenty-seven-minute drive, to sample local delicacies and visit historic sites.

From here, you can walk to your local taverna, though we’d suggest hopping in the car to explore the Keri Caves and Cameo Island. Inside this natural stone villa, you’ll find a simple yet elegant space that welcomes you in from the midday heat. Outside, you’ll find a panoramic-viewed terrace, an infinity pool, an alfresco dining area and a lounge for sipping sundowners.

You'll find a couple of en-suite bedrooms on this floor, each capable of accommodating up to five guests. Upstairs, there are a further two en-suite bedrooms with space for a further four guests in each, bringing the total guest count up to eighteen.

This pretty stone villa overlooks the ocean on the idyllic island of Zakynthos. It’s a leisurely twenty-minute stroll to the beach at Kaminia or an easy four-minute drive. If you fancy a night on the town, Zakynthos Town buzzes to life after sunset and is just a ten-minute drive away.

Back at the villa you’ve got plenty to keep you occupied. Like the glittering swimming pool on the huge terrace looking out over the Aegean. Our favourite spot out here has to be the suspended day bed, swathed with curtains. You’ve also got a covered veranda for alfresco dining and a second terrace upstairs with a chi chi chaise longue if you want to live out your romance novel fantasies.

The interior feels grand yet rustic with exposed stone walls at every turn and an old stone fireplace in the living room. Tufted leather armchairs, mini chandeliers and hand-carved wardrobes add the decadence. The master suite is fairytale-esque with stone archways framing glowing candelabra and satin curtains cascading from the four-poster bed. We love the vintage design touches that complement wooden ceilings throughout – a rotary phone here, a steam-punk sink there.

This villa is a really special home. It can be found in Machairado village – an almost untouched part of Zakynthos at the heart of the island. The home is on a vast plot of land, tucked away amid acres of lush greenery so if peace and quiet are what you’re craving, you’re in luck. 

You could easily spend your whole stay on the property, with your every need catered for. Hire a private chef and enjoy your meals at any one of the many dining areas in the grounds – we’re particularly fond of the tables on the covered terrace, where you can shelter from the midday sun and still enjoy the views all the way to the mountains. A huge brick barbecue sits alongside its own bar area to the side of the pool, the perfect setting for celebrations. 

The heart-shaped pool takes pride of place at the centre of the outside space. The hydro-massage jets mean it’s a hub of relaxation. After a morning spent floating and feeling your worries melt away, head to the tennis court. There’s also table tennis, a basketball hoop and billiards, so nobody is likely to feel bored. 

If you do feel the urge to explore beyond the gates, you can be in Zakynthos town in just fifteen minutes. You’ll find plenty of restaurants, bars and activity, and you can be back in time to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets.

It’s worth noting that at full occupancy five guests will be sleeping on sofa beds, some of which are located in bedrooms where other guests will also be sleeping, so this layout might not work for everyone.

Surrounded by woodland and verdant hillsides, you'll find it easy to completely switch off and relax at this address, with long days in the sunshine sure to be packed with paddling in the pool, sunbathing on the loungers and whipping up dinner on the barbecue. The balconies are a prime spot for catching the sunset, too.

The home itself is generously sized with heaps of natural light coming in through the windows. We have to concede that it's not the most modern when it comes to interior design, with some parts looking a little dated. However, aesthetics aside, there are a few amenities that will help you feel at home, including the corner bathtub and fireplace in the living room.

Although you could enjoy a relaxing stay without leaving the address, there are some attractions to explore not too far away. The nearest village, for instance, is Vougiato only a kilometre away, while Laganas Beach is 9k away. The island's main town is a similar distance, too.







In a Perfect World

A ground-floor apartment in a small, exclusive villa complex of just four homes, this colourful place read all the rule books about Greek all-white interiors – and then tore them up. Definitely not one for fans of minimalism, its traditional interior features a fireplace and tiled floors, while its walls, kitchen units, doors and window frames are all painted in a rainbow of different colours and paint effects – an artist's paradise. There's a fabulous balcony and terrace that wraps around the home, offering peaceful spots to sit and gaze out to sea, a dining table well screened from any neighbours with tropical planting and, of course, your own private pool. 

And the location of this charming place couldn't be much better. Set on a lush, green hillside in a quiet area near Argasi, the nearest beach, Kaminia, is just a walk away, and several others – including Porto Zoro and Banana – are within a few minutes drive. Plus there are all the shops and restaurants you could need in Argasi and nearby Vasilikos.

If you’re in need of some serious R & R, this Zakynthos home has got you covered. There aren’t any flashy amenities here, but the unfussy interior makes this a great base to come home to after a day of sunbathing on Laganas Beach. If alfresco dining’s your thing, the pergola will be right up your street, and with three of the four bedrooms boasting private balcony access, there are plenty of spots to gaze out at the surrounding greenery. Just bear in mind that this home is part of a development, so you may hear some noise from the neighbours during your stay.
