From the moment we saw the views from this villa in the village of Firostefani, we were sold. Endless stretches of blue radiate from all sides, best enjoyed from the terrace and hot tub. There’s an alfresco dining spot too that’s just waiting to be used for Greek treats in the sun, and when the rays get too strong, you can retreat inside amid the villa’s cool whitewashed walls. There are a few signs of wear and tear in the decor and the kitchen is on the small side. But with Fira just a ten-minute walk away, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to sample the local fare. And when you’re ready for a dip in the sea, pebbly Gialos Beach is 3.5 kilometres from your door.

Situated underneath the Venetian-era Pyrgos Castle in Santorini, it's hard to imagine this beautiful setting being the site of a factory, but rather remarkably, this home has an industrial history. In a former life, the building was used solely for the production of wine and tsipouro.

It has since been refurbished to become a set of four self-contained homes that can be booked out all at once. There are still signs of its history, from the cave-like rooms and the massive piece of machinery that sits in the middle of one of the living rooms. 

However, there are plenty of luxurious touches that have since been added, like the swimming pool and Jacuzzi that sit in the middle of the outdoor space, as well as the dreamy rooftop terrace that looks out over the Aegean Sea and neighbouring islands.

The historic village of Pyrgos has medieval streets and alleys to peek around, as well as a handful of restaurants and the aforementioned castle. Given the rustic look of this stunning villa, you wouldn't expect to see Smeg appliances, Smart TVs, and Simmons mattresses. The blend of the old meets the new is perfectly done. It's chic and comfortable while retaining that quintessentially Santorini charm.

Swing in the hammock, glide through the infinity pool, and lounge as you watch the sun dance on the Aegean Sea. The sea becomes increasingly tempting, you'll probably want to make your way to the lovely Monolithos Beach, a thirteen-minute drive away. There's a long list of things we love about this villa in the middle of Santorini, but perhaps the most unique feature is the miniature church on the grounds — St Catherine's — that allows you to get married and host a reception with up to two hundred guests afterwards.

When it comes to settings for a party, there can't be many that are better than this. Starting with the exterior, there's a large freshwater swimming pool surrounded by loungers and covered terraces, which all enjoy a gorgeous view of a Cycladic hillside. Moving around the side of the address, guests also get the run of a massive lawn with children's play equipment on it.

Inside, the home has been appointed in traditional Santorinian style, with cooling white walls, wooden ceiling beams and bare floorboards. Oddly enough, the only rooms that veer away from this script are the bathrooms, which all have been treated to a quirky range of tiling.

Inside, it’s pared-back, stylish and a little bit luxurious – we loved the bathtub made from volcanic rock and we couldn’t get enough of the premium mattresses. There’s more grounded grandeur outside: an infinity plunge pool with built-in Jacuzzi feature and a balcony that makes for a perfect sunset watching spot.

When you’re feeling peckish, put together Greek-inspired dishes in the fully-equipped kitchen or why not call upon the help of a private chef to take care of the cooking. After a good feasting, slip on your sandals and explore your surroundings. The heart of Imerovigli village, home to sleek bars and swanky restaurants is a two-minute walk away. If you’d prefer to expend a little more energy, set off on the Skaros Rock and Ekklisia Theoskepasti hiking trail, less than ten minutes from your doorstep.

Located in the village of Imerovigli, you’ll have an array of sleek bars, fine-dining restaurants and sunset viewing spots within close proximity, but if nature’s more your thing, check out the Ekklisia Theoskepasti hiking trail that leads past the ruined, 13th-century Skaros Venetian Fortress. When you return, you’ll have a private pool (with a Jacuzzi bench) and cosy terrace area to enjoy a few drinks. 

Myriad of Stars

Nestled in the desirable village of Imerovigli, also known as the balcony of the Aegean, you'll find this beautiful cave home. It's split into two sections connected by an outdoor staircase, meaning that your whole group can enjoy plenty of peace and independence.

The gorgeous natural textures and white interior create a soothing ambiance where you can really kick back and relax. There is space to eat inside, but we think you'd probably rather dine outside under the shady pergola, as you breathe in the fresh sea air. Admire the stunning views from the comfort of your lounger, before plunging into the swimming pool to cool off. And, as the sun goes down, you can gather your guests in the outdoor hot tub to sip local wine under the stars – it doesn't get much better than this. 

Imerovigli is quieter than some other areas of the island, and you can stroll through the picturesque streets admiring the architecture. Stop off at a local taverna for lunch, before following the walking trail up to the breathtaking viewpoint at Skaros Rock. And, with the town of Fira just over 2km away, you can easily visit the capital's cathedrals, museums, and even take a ride on the cable car. 

Cave Chic

Modern, sleek and beautifully appointed, this seafront villa is perfect for group get-togethers and family gatherings. With direct access down to Tersanas Beach and a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the Aegean Sea, you'll be pinching yourself from the moment you arrive. You're also just a twenty-minute drive from the charming Venetian city of Chania, should you wish to embark on any cultural excursions. 

Otherwise, let the afternoons slip away as you down cocktails on the sun loungers, plate up traditional Greek lunches under the veranda, and cool off with a gentle swim in the warm water – all while watching the changing moods of the ocean below. As you can tell, we adore the far-reaching vistas, but the stylish interiors really caught us by surprise. 

Open the sliding doors, instantly expanding your communal space, while bathing the home in natural sunlight. Looking around, you'll notice the high-end touch that's been given to this bright pad – from the plush kitchen and cooking island to the freestanding bathtub in the main bedroom. Later, fall into a blissful slumber as you listen to the waves crashing and look out over the ocean from the comfort of your own bed.

On The Water's Edge

Overlooking the sparkling Aegean Sea, this home enjoys an enviable location in the heart of Santorini. It should come as no surprise that the outside space is the standout here, boasting a private swimming pool and plenty of seating for sitting back and soaking up the view. That being said, the interior is nothing to scoff at either, offering plenty of privacy thanks to its unique, split-level design. Whether you’re travelling with a handful of friends or the whole family, you won’t be short on living space here. 

Small and scenic, Santorini is easy to get around without the help of a car, though we wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to hire one to explore the island at your own pace. Drive to the nearest beach and settle in for an afternoon of sunbathing, embark on a hike across Nea Kamen volcano, or head into Pyrgos Kallistis and practise your Greek with the friendly locals. 

Island Haze

Santorini is known for its mystical caldera views, charming villages of hilly cobblestone paths, and lavish accommodations. Here, in this hillside villa, you get the best of it all. The ancient streets of one of the island’s most picturesque villages, Akrotiri, are right outside, while the home itself sets the scene for the perfect Santorini getaway.

Commanding vistas of the old Castle of Akrotiri, the sparkling caldera, and the looming volcano are in full view from the outdoor area. From cosy nooks set into stone walls, a sofa area beneath the pergola, and most importantly, a mesmerising infinity pool, the views will follow you from one to the other. 

Spend blissful days finding your favourite spot, whether that’s taking time alone and reading, sipping cocktails perched against the pool’s edge, or playing cards with friends in the sun. Come dusk, the scenery becomes even more spell-binding – the sunset is perfectly complemented by a crisp glass of wine. 

Inside, the elegant interior is interspersed with traditionally Grecian touches. Settle down in the cosy corner of the kitchen for continental breakfast spreads and relax in bedrooms that have a distinct Santorini style. For total relaxation, make use of your own spa room – sink into the elevated stone jacuzzi, reminiscent of the Grecian baths of Olympia. 

Exploring comes easy here. Take the short 200-metre walk to White Beach, hop in the car for a day out in Fira, and visit the iconic viewpoints of Oia. 

Aphrodite's View

Such is the beautiful landscape in abundance and the hilly terrain from which to appreciate it, it seems a waste to go to the Greek islands and not stay somewhere with a decent view. This villa on the highest point of Santorini's capital is, therefore, an excellent choice. From the terrace, guests are treated to a panoramic vista of the Aegean Sea and the Tholos Naftilos volcano sat in the middle.

As you would hope, there are plenty of places where you can sit and gawp at this pretty scene, including alfresco dining tables, lounges and a hot tub with an uninterrupted view of the caldera. 

Although your attention might naturally be drawn elsewhere, the home itself is a treat for the eyes, too. Although it has recently been reconstructed, it has been built in the neoclassical style popular with affluent residents that made the island their residence in the nineteenth century. As a result, you'll see domed ceilings, arched doorways and thick walls, as well as an eclectic collection of artwork and decorative items.

The prime location in the middle of Fira means that there are plenty of restaurants and cultural distractions within walking distance, including the Megaro Gizi Museum. The town's old harbour isn't too far away either.
