Although, we suspect you'll be spending most of your time around the private pool. After exploring the stunning Soardo-Bembo Palace – and the crypt under the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary – cool off beneath your outdoor shower. If you visit Bale in August, open up these fitted wardrobes and get dressed up for the Last Minute Jazz Festival. At night, unwind in an olive green bedroom and read a book by lamplight.

Blue Ripples

It’s hard to tell where the infinity pool ends, and the Adriatic Sea begins at this luxurious villa tucked into the base of Ucka Mountain. Surrounded by Mediterranean gardens and overlooking Medveja’s distinct pebble beach, this home is a Croatian paradise.

Indoors you'll find a minimalist oasis with huge sliding glass walls that allow you to soak up the coastal panoramas from every vantage point – whether you’re sipping your morning coffee from your plush bed, cooking up a traditional black risotto in the sleek kitchen, indulging in a Jacuzzi soak session or sharing Rakija on the plump sofas – the breathtaking view will accompany you. 

Wander outside and the vistas only get better. There are cosy sofas under the patio for when you wish to share cocktails and conversations, slick loungers shaded by luscious fauna for when you need a repose from the sun, and a sparkling infinity pool that blends into the horizon – it’s the kind you dream of. 

For the days when you want to spread your legs, there are endless hiking trails in Medveja, as well as some of the Kvarner region’s most beautiful beaches. After a sea-grazing or mountain-soaring afternoon, head home for a restorative session in the sauna. 

Infinite Sky Blue

Peaceful Croatian escapes don’t get much better than this. A bright and welcoming apartment, this home sits in pretty Orbanići Gorenji – it’s a quiet spot away from the touristy areas so you can experience authentic Croatia while getting some real R&R. 

You’ll wake up in the morning feeling refreshed after a comfortable night’s sleep. The apartment is stylish and modern, but comfort is key so you won’t be short of cosy corners to curl up in. The living and dining space is open-plan, leading straight outside so as you lounge on the sofa or cook breakfast you can admire the leafy garden through the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. 

Outside, a swimming pool sits in the middle of a lush garden lined with trees. It’s quiet and sunny, a little oasis. In the evenings you might make use of the barbecue for alfresco feasts under the stars – you can drive into Žminj for supplies in six minutes. 

If you need to paddle in the sea for it to really feel like a holiday, you needn’t travel too far. Beautiful Rovinj is a thirty-minute drive and is surrounded by attractive pebble beaches – we like Bale beach, which is thirty-two minutes away. 


Honey Gold

Contemporary and sleek, this villa is an architectural marvel, like two white and wood boxes on top of each other. It sits in the hamlet of Salvela, surrounded by the olive groves and vineyards of the Istrian countryside, just a ten-minute walk from the centre of Vodnjan. If you fancy a beach break, it’s just a fifteen-minute drive to the turquoise waters of Istria’s beaches. The open and airy kitchen, living and dining room is pure 21st-century-chic with a slate grey kitchen hiding all the appliances you need for self-catering. Perhaps serve alfresco, on the terrace by the swimming pool. Out here you’ll find plenty of sun loungers to fit the whole group and there's a playpark and trampoline for kids. Inside, you can spend time in the games rooms or unwinding in the Finnish sauna. Geometric patterns and pops of neon-bright colours give a mid-century feel to the decor, like a 1960s entertainer's home. Each bedroom is a haven of stone-grey, with splashes of colour courtesy of modern artworks on the wall. Glass sliding doors lead from each bedroom to the terrace, so you can wake up and slip straight to the poolside. 

The Olive Farmer

Situated in a peaceful hamlet, this home offers a relaxed retreat yet is still within easy reach of the coast and nearby resorts. Its versatile layout makes it a practical pick for a big family getaway, as there’s a separate apartment with two bedrooms and its own kitchen and living area – handy if you need more room to stretch out. Meanwhile, the swimming pool and terrace provide plenty space to socialise – surrounded by countryside, you’ll feel agreeably away from it all as you lounge in the sun.

Sunflower Heights

Designed by a renowned Croatian architect, this magazine-worthy villa is a true luxurious retreat. Sleek, design-forward details are everywhere – from the balconies to the multiple terraces. With several outdoor dining areas, a barbecue, and a wood-fired oven, alfresco dining is easy. And you can keep the whole family entertained with the swimming pool, games console, and ping-pong table. This home is on the edge of the medieval town of Kastelir, where you'll find a handful of authentic restaurants. And if you want to venture further afield, you can drive to the famous coastal cities of Porec and Vrsar in thirty minutes.

House of Tranquillity

If you’re looking to experience the natural beauty of Istria, this home couldn’t be a better choice. You’ll be welcomed by stunning views, a peaceful garden and a private saltwater pool. The terrace is perfect for sunset drinks and there’s a barbecue. Inside, the open-plan layout is perfect for cosy gatherings and all three of the bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms for privacy. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to the village of Zamask, while the coastal towns of Umag and Poreč are a forty-minute drive away. 


A True Gift

This villa is tucked away in a rural spot near Poreč, so it’s great if you want some peace and quiet. There's a pool outside, plus a dedicated sauna and hot tub room for when you’re in the mood to relax. Kids get their own fun space too, with a bedroom featuring a mezzanine play area. If you feel like exploring, the village of Sveti Lovreč is a short drive. Or for the beach, head to Polidor – less than half an hour away. You’ll definitely want a car here, but it’s worth it for everything there is to discover.
