If you're a fan of history, you'll love just how much history is in store for you at this fifteenth-century château. Surrounded by seven acres of private land, there are plenty of games to be played and trails to be explored. There's also a badminton set, billiards and a ping-pong table, which means the kids will be entertained for days. When you're ready to explore the surrounding scenery, the beaches at Plestin Les Greves are guaranteed to make you fall in love with the area.

La Rivière

You'll find this characterful farmhouse in sweet Cancale, where fresh oysters are on the menu and Mont Saint-Michel stands proud in the middle of the bay. It's a charming little village, and you'll be well-placed to soak up its authentic Breton atmosphere. Follow the path by the house and you'll end up at Port Briac beach, while the restaurants perched along the quay in town are an excellent spot to relax with a glass of wine and breathe in the salt-tinged air.

As undeniable as the location is, what makes this home a standout are the stunning traditional features in every room. We're smitten with the exposed stone walls and knotted wooden beams, and many cosy nooks invite you to kick back and unwind away from the group. Mealtimes are a grand affair in the dining room, with its sky-high ceilings and ornamental hearth. Tuck into a home-cooked feast made with locally-sourced seafood and produce, followed by a glass or two of Brittany's famous cider in the conservatory. During the summer, head out to the garden for sundowners and barbecues, then snuggle up for a good night's sleep in the comfortable bedrooms.

On the Half Shell

Overlooking a small beach on the atmospheric shores of Dinard, this traditional family home has been lovingly restored into a private seaside sanctuary.

Set across two floors with an adjoining self-contained apartment, you’ll find an abundance of space to relax and savour the simple pleasures of coastal living. From laid-back gatherings in the living room to refreshing drinks in the garden and intimate candlelit dinners, this is the kind of space that inspires you to settle in and make it your own. And with Dinard’s colourful market just a short walk away, you’ll find it easy to connect with the authentic charm of Brittany.

From here, it’s just a five-minute walk to Prieuré beach where days can be spent strolling along the sand, embracing ice-cold swims, picnics and incredible views of nearby Saint-Malo (just a fifteen-minute drive away). Families will love the close proximity to the mini-golf course, while Promenade du Clair de Lune makes the perfect setting to watch the sunset.

Primrose Sea

Stay at this 19th century chateau in the Loire valley for an experience of history and extravagance. Large enough for family gatherings and celebrations with friends, the home is grandiose both inside and out. Built by a nobleman two centuries ago, this chateau has been restored to perfection and the grounds are just as impressive and magnificent in terms of upkeep and scale. Spend days cycling around the property. Let the kids fish in the lake or dip in the pool, and marvel at the animals on site. For the adults, book a tennis lesson or in-house massage in the drawing room and enjoy that French joie de vivre topped off with local food and wine. Look out for shooting stars and promise to all meet again at this property in the future (you wouldn’t be the first).

The Garden of France

Consider yourself on the peaceful shores of Brittany – walking barefoot on the sand, taking an impromptu dip in the sea, strolling through the grounds of your own private estate and the bliss of uninterrupted views wherever you turn. Add to that an abundance of charm and character, and you’ll find yourself here, in this home on Pointe du Blair overlooking the Gulf of Morbihan.

Set across two floors, each of the rooms has its own distinctive personality – welcoming you to relax and experience the magic of this unique setting. From the large living room with its traditional stone fireplace to the snug kitchen and cosy bedrooms, this is the perfect setting for an intimate celebration and rejuvenating retreat. And when the beautiful views draw you outside, you’ll find an abundance of space to lounge under the trees, get lost in a book and savour dreamy barbecue meals that stretch long into the evening.

When you feel inspired to explore beyond this peaceful sanctuary, you’ll find the spectacular beaches of Morbihan are just a short drive away. Golfers will love the close proximity to Golf de Baden (ten minutes away), while water sports enthusiasts will find themselves in perfect heaven in Arradon – just a fifteen-minute drive away.

Maison Champagne

Situated in a quiet village close to the Brittany coastline, there's an air of nobility to the handsome white facade of this townhouse surrounded by idyllic grounds and this impression continues behind the front door.

High ceilings and tall windows make for palatial proportions in many of the rooms, especially the lavish bedrooms and the living room with its chandelier and vintage-style furnishings. By contrast, other spaces have been modernised, like the chic white kitchen which is plenty large enough for cooking up Breton-inspired feasts.

As well as scoring high in the style stakes, there's plenty to keep guests entertained here. On the top floor, a games room with a pool table and board games is sure to be welcome on rainy afternoons, while the three terraces, large garden and hot tub will all see lots of use when the weather's a little warmer.

In local Muzillac, there's a good choice of restaurants and bars a short walk from the home, while you won't be short of ways to fill a day in the wider area. Beaches along the Brittany coastline are easily reached in the car, as are Brière Natural Regional Park and the city of Vannes.

A Tale as Old as Time

Spread across the main chateau and three neighbouring annexes this estate creates a whimsical backdrop for large celebrations and gatherings. The bedrooms range from lavish suits with sumptuous textiles to humble rooms with wooden beams and exposed stone walls. This variety suits groups with different needs and preferences. Any guest will love exploring the grounds and taking boating trips on the pond. The fifteenth-century chateau is best viewed from its beautiful swimming pool where you can gaze up and soak in the towers and turrets in all their glory. To get a taste of the nearby coastline, drive to the town of Cancale where you can devour fresh shellfish. The local village of Combourg makes an excellent trip for its medieval castle and lake.

The Fox's Coat

This is one of those homes that will have you completely smitten before you've even stepped foot behind the front door. Sitting within huge grounds just off the coastline in Sables D'or les Pins, there are gorgeous sea views to be had from the garden and no shortage of spots from which to appreciate this peaceful coastal setting, including a large terrace with a barbecue and dining table ready and waiting for feasts that stretch long into the evening.

The scenery is no less pretty out through the large windows inside and one of the first-floor bedrooms is treated to a balcony as well so you can get a blast of sea air the very moment you wake up. However, don't forget to lavish a little attention on the carefully put-together interior, which is both contemporary and quirky. Cleansingly white walls and ceilings play host to an eclectic collection of artwork and lighting fixtures, while the bright red bathtub is certainly eye-catching, too.

As you would hope given the proximity of La Manche, the home enjoys direct access to the beach, which feels almost like an extension of the garden. In the other direction, there are shops, restaurants and markets just over five minutes' walk from the home, as well as other attractions a short drive away – Les Jardins de Ker Louis can be reached in a quarter of an hour, for instance.

King of the Coast

Even though this large home sits in the middle of a golf course in rural Brittany, there's plenty to keep guests occupied even if they're not keen followers of the sport.

Take the wonderful wellness space, for example. Surrounded by large windows that look out to the peaceful grounds, there's both a heated swimming pool and a Jacuzzi to recline in once you've done a length or two. If that sounds a little too sedate, there's a huge range of games, from foosball and ping-pong to a petanque court and an arcade machine on which you'll find over 1500 video games. We're not saying you'll be praying for rainy days, but they won't be the catastrophe they might be at other addresses.

At the same time, the huge garden offers lots of space and equipment for enjoying spells of sunny weather. You can embrace a French tradition on the petanque court, bounce about on the trampoline or do nothing more strenuous than read on the terrace – perhaps with dinner cooking away on the barbecue in the background.

We should also mention that the home – once a farmhouse in a former life – is a pleasing mix of rustic and contemporary aspects, with wooden ceiling beams and a few patches of exposed stonework sitting quite happily alongside stark white walls, bold artwork and a super-sleek minimalist kitchen.

When it comes to seeing a little more of this corner of France, there's a good selection of spots that are a short drive away. The seaside towns of Saint-Malo and Dinard are a quarter of an hour away by car for instance, while both Rennes and Mont Saint Michel take around forty minutes to reach.

A Playful Character

This home is a stunning 8-room villa located just 10 metres from the sea and 150 metres from the beach. The villa is set in a 2-hectare park, which is completely fenced for privacy. With a tennis court and parking for up to 5 cars, this villa is perfect for families or groups of friends. The villa can accommodate up to 10 adults and 3 children comfortably. It has a spacious living/dining room with an open-hearth fireplace, a large terrace with beautiful sea views, and a fully equipped kitchen. There are four bedrooms on the upper floor, each with two single beds, one room with bunk beds, and one large room with a king-size bed. The villa also has an office with a sofa bed and all necessary amenities such as WiFi, washing machine, iron, children's high chair, baby cot, hair dryer and smoke alarm. Nearby attractions include La Trinité Sur Mer and Carnac et ses alignements.
