Positioned one minute from the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, this desert house puts one of California's most otherworldly landscapes right outside the door – and the surroundings never let you forget it. A shaded porch and terrace frame the mountain panorama from every angle, while the hot tub earns its place with views built for sunset watching and late-night stargazing. When you're ready to explore further, the park's boulder formations and trails are a ten-minute drive. Come back to a fire pit, alfresco dining, and an outdoor shower open to the desert sky.

Home truths
Due to this home's remote location, you might find that the phone signal is patchy from time to time.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can arrange babysitting and can provide a cot on request – worth flagging when you book.
The pool access at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center is open to guests aged eighteen and over only, runs from May to August, and is 7.3 miles from the villa – a short drive to cool off during the hotter months.
Many roads in the area are unpaved and can develop ruts after rain, so take them slowly. A four-wheel drive isn't required, but a higher-clearance vehicle is worth considering.
The lead guest must be at least 21 years old.
At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
