Designed by architect Ron Radziner and featured on the cover of the LA Times, this cabin sits on five private acres of boulder-strewn terrain right on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park – so the hiking starts at your front door. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls mean the desert never feels far, even from inside. An outdoor soaking bathtub, a covered living room with a vintage gas fireplace, and an alfresco dining area among the boulders make the outdoors feel just as liveable as in. The National Park itself is a fourteen-minute drive.

Home truths

  • This is a studio apartment, so you'll be living and sleeping in one space.

  • If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair at no additional cost. You'll need to request them in advance.

  • Cell phone reception in this part of the high desert can be unreliable and varies by network provider. We recommend enabling wi-fi calling or downloading a VOIP app before you arrive.

  • A driveway-facing security camera monitors guest occupancy as required by local ordinance – it's trained on the driveway, not the interior or outdoor living spaces.

  • Many of the local roads are unpaved dirt tracks with ruts, particularly after rain. A four-wheel-drive vehicle isn't required, but taking it slowly is strongly advised.

  • The lead guest must be at least 21 years old.
