Stone fireplace, hot tub under the pines, and Big Bear Mountain Resort a four-minute walk from the front door – this mountain house ticks every box for a ski trip done right. Settle in around the fire after a day on the slopes, then sink into the hot tub as the pine trees close in around you. When the snow is falling and nobody wants to move, the table football keeps things lively indoors. Big Bear Village's restaurants and boutiques are a short drive away for evenings you do venture out.

Home truths
There's no street parking here, so you'll need to fit your group's vehicles in the driveway, which has space for three cars.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a pack 'n' play travel cot and a high chair. It's worth requesting these ahead of arrival to make sure everything's ready when you get there.
The home doesn't come with firewood, so you'll want to pick some up locally or bring your own if you're planning evenings by the fireplace.
The garden is semi-private and separated from the neighbouring home by a low fence, so you'll have neighbours in view. The third bedroom also doubles as the access route to the back deck, so guests staying in that room will see a little more foot traffic.
One of the bedrooms has a single-over-double bunk bed that can sleep up to three people – we think it might be best suited to children.
At full occupancy, you'll need to make use of a rollaway bed here. We think it's best suited to children.
