Perfect for a couple’s retreat, this apartment caught our eye because of its location. Situated in the main square of Lucca, you’ll find a whole host of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. Sure, there’s no parking here, but a car isn’t essential with easily accessible public transport for days when you want to travel further afield. For those travelling with groups greater than two, the double sofa bed provides additional sleeping space – just be prepared for the natural light to wake you up, with sheer drapes covering the living room windows.

Home truths
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair for free. You'll need to request them in advance.
At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area. The living room curtains don't fully block out the sunlight – if you're hoping to enjoy a lie-in, you might want to pack an eye mask.
There's no parking available here, but public transport is easily accessible. That said, we think the best way to see the city is on foot.
This home is single-storey and situated on the ground floor with just two steps at the entrance, making it suitable for those with limited mobility.
