As soon as you walk through the front door, The Kumiko meets you with an incredible sense of zen. With its light-filled interiors and Japanese-inspired furniture, it appears calm and soothing right off the bat. We can’t get over the indulgent three-sixty views of Berlin’s skyline – even though it’s in Schöneberg, you can see the roofs of some of the city’s most famous attractions from the balcony in the distance. As part of a hotel, you can also expect a fair share of amenities, like a garden that hosts regular yoga classes and a stylish lobby.

Home truths

The shower isn’t the most private we’ve seen – the only thing separating it from the rest of the space is a partitioning wall

It’s part of a hotel – access is through a lobby

The kitchen isn’t well-equipped – it’s actually more of a kitchenette as there’s no oven

The bathroom is split into two – you'll find the shower and WC in separate rooms

The host will require your credit card upon check-in for pre-authorising a deposit
