If there's a more dynamic cabin in Joshua Tree than this spectacular glass, wood and concrete beauty designed by Ron Radziner, we want to hear about it. Inside, the home is a sparse but welcoming open-plan space where bright sandstone meets floor-to-ceiling windows. Here, the rugged landscape takes centre stage, creating a sense of stillness and escape. There's a neat little kitchen for rustling up breakfast, a simple seating area and a comfortable double bed where you can fall asleep to the twinkling stars. At dusk, sit on the covered patio's sun loungers and watch cottontail rabbits jump past sandy cactus. But the star of the show, undoubtedly, is the alfresco aluminium bathtub. We can't think of a better place to take in the desert views, best enjoyed with a margarita in hand. A stay here means easy access to some of Joshua Tree National Park's hiking trails, and you're also a 10-minute drive into town, where artisanal coffee and ceramic shops will jolt you back into the real world.
