Set in Twentynine Palms, a town that appears like a mirage out of the Mojave desert, this home is as magical as the landscape surrounding it. It is an ode to the outdoors – the huge garden has plenty of hidden nooks, where you’ll find tables and chairs surrounded by native plants from which to soak up the sun or count stars. The private pool provides respite from the California heat, and the beautifully constructed wooden pergola is the perfect spot for lunches in the cool of the shade. Come evening the mood can be set with ambient lighting, before you jump in the frothy jacuzzi. Fire up the barbecue on the large terrace for starlit dinners, where you can spend nights gazing at incomparable views of the Milky Way, before heading downstairs to toast s’mores on the firepit. The house is in an unbeatable location: drive just ten minutes down the road to reach the east entrance of Joshua Tree National park. Here you can hike, climb, or camp in the otherworldly terrain. Twentynine Palms offers everything from traditional saloon eateries to live music venues. After a long day exploring Joshua Tree, comfort takes precedence in the house, with each room kitted out with a TV for relaxed evenings. The house is well suited to families and friends alike, and two of the bedrooms come with private patios for quiet moments. The perfect hideaway for lovers of tranquillity, fun, and the untamed great outdoors.
