Set within the historic walls of Lucca, just a four-minute wander from the bustling Piazza Napoleone, this delicate and ornate apartment offers lodgings fit for royalty. With the ancient surroundings of the walled city dominating the landscape with stone and brick, the interiors of this home are quite the contrast. Step inside to this sugarplum beauty, decorated with soft pink pastels and delicate floral prints. The living space is an immaculate display of elegance – white flowing curtains, a glittering chandelier, and vintage-style dining chairs create a sense of opulence. But traditional architectural features bring a rustic edge, such as the wooden beamed ceiling, masked in bright white paint. In contrast to this pristine, snow-like decor, pour a glass of prosecco and enjoy views overlooking local buildings with both stone and technicolour facades. Throw open the shutters to let in the sounds of ‘la vita italiana’ and watch the world go by as you sip your first flute of the evening. You'll probably want to spend your days seeing the sights – stroll the ramparts, take a bike ride through winding streets, sample local wines, and fill up on fresh, Italian fare.

There’s a buzzy nightlife scene centred around cool enotecas and craft beer bars. On Via Fillungo, you’ll find some of Lucca’s finest boutiques, with high-end...
