In the ancient heart of Lucca, this elegant apartment has a rather old and famous neighbour – the striking, Romanesque-Gothic Torre Guinigi. About a thirty-second stroll from the entrance of this 14th-century tower, the setting couldn't be more fairytale-like if it tried. At the top of a medieval building, set over two floors, this modern home retains many of its original features in a serene and stylish space. We love its carefully curated mix of both new and antique pieces, along with a chandelier adding drama in the living room. White is the colour of choice, creating a bright and clean look which contrasts beautifully against the rich wooden floors. Up in the eaves of the home, you’ll find attic bedrooms tucked under beams dating back hundreds of years. Gaze out to rooftop views from almost every window – it’s hard to believe how close you are to the city's iconic tower, as well as its charming bars and restaurants. After visiting nearby churches and museums, don't miss out on the top shopping spots either – it’s a ten-minute walk to Via San Paolino for fashion, and six to Piazza San Giusto for antiques.
