This mid-century architectural project turned desert hideaway has us longing to create. Set high above the desert floor, with breathtaking vistas, reaching as far as the San Joaquin Mountains, it’s the sort of place where writers and artists retreat to find their flow. The original design prototype had a pioneering metal canopy system, with canvas curtains which used to completely close around the house – which explains the oversized roof. It’s still a totally unique space today, with huge windows flooding the rooms with warm light. The interior has been carefully curated to spark inspiration, with a bohemian mix of canvases, ceramics and macramé artworks. But with all the arty vibes, there is still plenty of space to snuggle up...
