Vetted by our experts

This mid-century studio in the heart of Joshua Tree was designed with the view in mind and we can see why. One glance out the floor-to-ceiling windows and you'll be treated to spectacular, sprawling vistas of the Mojave Desert. It's the perfect backdrop to morning coffees and evening cocktails, especially when the sun goes down and the shooting stars fly across the sky. Inside, the open-concept layout invites you to socialise and relax in equal measure. Filled with custom-made wooden furniture and rustic touches, we'd describe the vibe here as Wild West chic. Play your favourite music on the Alexa speaker while you channel your inner Jamie Oliver in the kitchen – we're particularly fond of the concrete countertops. After...

Staying in Joshua Tree National Park

Drive a couple of hours east of Los Angeles, and you’re in a different world. Nowhere is that more apparent than Joshua Tree with its many artist residences, rugged rock formations, and stark desert landscapes. Named after the twisted, bristled Joshua Tree, a stay in this little Mojave desert community is synonymous with art exhibitions, beautiful night skies, hikes, delicious food, and plenty of hours lounging about in aesthetically pleasing surroundings.

Home truths

What the photos might not tell you, but we do

  • There are no curtains or blinds on the front sliding door to make the most of the views – the home is tucked away from the street and neighbours, so you'll still have plenty of privacy

  • Two pets are welcome to join you for a fee of $150 per pet

  • This is a studio so there's no separation between the living area, kitchen and bedroom

  • Two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed – we don't think it will compromise on space, but as this is a studio, there won't be much privacy between guests
