Southern California is the place to be – particularly if you're staying at this colourful homestead in the Yucca Valley. Sitting just outside of Pioneertown on its own two-acre plot, the eight-person property offers a peaceful retreat in a vast desert landscape. The feel-good interiors feature a medley of teal and terracotta, with white walls to ground the rooms. Though the decor is decidedly contemporary, mid-century furniture is scattered throughout. Organic elements, including wicker baskets and a flourishing fiddle leaf fig tree, add a suitable boho flair. There's a lot going on, but it all comes together to create a cohesive and comforting ambience. If you were impressed by the inside, prepare to be wowed by the well-outfitted courtyard and garden. The host refers to this home as a 'swim club', which makes sense when you catch sight of the large private pool with an adjoining hot tub. And the fun doesn't end there – lounge in the cabana while one of your fellow guests whips up a cocktail at the bar. There's also a barbecue so you can grill to your heart's content. Enjoy your meals at the outdoor dining table, and take in scenic sights of wildflowers and eucalyptus... trees amid the rocky terrain. End your evenings on the hammocks, counting constellations and gazing up at the fluorescent Milky Way.
