Starting off with a bang, this apartment is just steps away from the sea. Set on the southern end of Playa Poniente, we’re not exaggerating when we say the pool is right on the beach. Take in spectacular sea views as you swim or relax on the terrace – the pool may be in public view, but we appreciate that the terrace has a glass barrier for an added layer of privacy. The vistas can be admired indoors, too, thanks to sliding glass doors leading into a calm and inviting living space. The rest of the interiors are equally appealing, from the smart kitchen to the sleek bathrooms. Fancy an upgrade? Arrange a private chef or charter a yacht to make your holiday extra special.

Perched on a hillside just outside Benidorm, this luxury villa with a private pool in Alicante offers far-reaching views of the sea and surrounding countryside. It’s a great choice for large groups, as there are four sizable bedrooms, two lounges and two kitchens – not to mention plenty of outdoor space to make the most of the Costa Blanca sunshine. Catch up with your loved ones by the infinity pool, while those who want to stay in the shade can slide open the floor-to-ceiling windows and enjoy the fresh breeze from the comfort of the sofa. On the lower level is another patio where you can fire up the barbecue and tuck into a home-cooked meal in the sunshine. For a truly indulgent experience, pop open a bottle of bubbly and hop in the hot tub to watch the sun go down.

'Obsessed' isn't a term we use lightly, but that's how we feel about this villa. It's all about luxury experiences here, from the plush bedrooms to the spa-like bathrooms where you can pamper yourself in the Jacuzzi bathtub. While you may want to hire a private chef, you won't be able to resist using the high-spec kitchen with its glossy island – or, for that matter, the outdoor barbecue. Chill out in the comfy lounge, perfectly set up for movie nights, or sip a cold drink out on the flower-filled terrace. When you're not swimming laps in the private pool or soaking up the sun on the lawn, you're just a twenty-minute drive to Playa de Mil Palmeras for a beach day. Or tee off at neighbouring Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, one of the most exclusive courses in Alicante.

Garden of Harmony

Thanks to its gorgeous garden, this is one of our favourite luxury villas in Alicante with a private pool. Nestled in the hills outside Jávea, each day here will be spent outside in the sunshine. Our favourite spot is the private pool, followed by the covered terrace that makes a perfect backdrop for alfresco meals. There's even a balcony where you can perch with a glass of wine and watch the youngsters run on the lawn. Inside, we love the light-filled lounge with its small fireplace, while the separate guest house is perfect for those wanting some extra privacy. When you start to feel guilty about spending too long lounging on the sofa, Platja de l'Arenal is a short drive away. Or, for adventures further afield, Alicante's colourful Old Town is about an hour by car.

An Island In The Sun

The first thing you’ll notice about this villa is the turquoise pool, surrounded by greenery and mature trees. The garden extends round the back where you’ll find a covered dining area that looks out towards the sea – all meals should be enjoyed out here. Meanwhile, the white-washed interiors provide a calming space for when you want to relax. Large windows ensure a natural breeze drifts through the home, while the stone floors keep things cool. The spacious kitchen is a highlight with its open concept and a generous amount of prep space. Shake up some mojitos and take them to the first-floor terrace, a sun trap perfect for unwinding. When it gets a little too warm, there’s also a covered section for some shade. Or, hop in the car and drive 3.5 kilometres to Calpe and spend the day on the beach.

When it comes to luxury villas with a private pool in Alicante, this one is pretty hard to beat. There are chic interiors and splendid vistas aplenty. You may be looking for a short-term rental, but don’t be surprised when you find yourself wanting to move here permanently. Take advantage of the extensive terrace with its mix of sunny and shaded spots, ideal for everything from breakfasts to sundowners. Thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, you won’t have to miss out on the views from inside either, whether you’re at the breakfast bar or on the sofa – you can even gaze at the sea from the comfort of your bubble bath. It’ll be difficult to get up from the sun loungers, but you’re just a four-minute drive or a twenty-minute walk from the centre of Moraira should you feel like stretching your legs.

Vista Tranquila

If contemporary design is what you’re searching for, then this striking villa has it all. Think clean lines and bright and airy spaces filled with natural light – the abundance of glass ensures that the views of the mountains and countryside are to be relished at all times. That includes when you’re working out in the home gym or catching up on emails in the dedicated office space – although, if we’re being honest, we think you’ll be more tempted to pour a glass of red and sit outside by the pool or on the first-floor balcony. The home is just a ten-minute drive from the coastal town of Xàbia, where you can unwind on the beach or splash out at its selection of Michelin-starred restaurants – we recommend Restaurante BonAmb.

Endless Bliss

Just an eight-minute drive from Moraira, this upscale townhouse is well-deserving of its name. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel a sense of calm and relaxation thanks to the lush greenery and tranquil surroundings. The outdoor area has ample space to hang out or enjoy a quiet moment of reading, from the gazebo to the dining area, and there’s even an alfresco kitchen should you fancy a barbecue lunch. This serenity extends indoors, with white-washed interiors and large glass windows bringing the outside in. The open-plan kitchen and lounge look out to the garden, while the upstairs bedrooms have balcony access for far-reaching views. After a long day of swimming laps in the pool and chatting with friends in the shaded courtyard, take advantage of the Jacuzzi tub before tucking yourself into the sumptuous beds.

Beachside Rose

Rounding up our list of luxury villas with a private pool in Alicante is this three-bedroom villa. The light-filled rooms have been kitted out with modern furnishings, from a glossy breakfast bar to colourful tiled bathrooms. We love the strong sense of design throughout the home, with chic black finishings creating a feel of cohesion. There are two living rooms to choose from, whether you want to gather around the fireplace downstairs or fit in some work upstairs (although we’re willing to bet you won’t get much done). But with the warm Spanish sunshine, we think you’ll spend most of your time outside. Tuck into long, lazy lunches at either of the two dining tables or get comfy with a glass of wine on the sofas. If you feel like sunbathing, take your pick from the poolside loungers or the first-floor terrace. The latter doubles as a sunset-watching spot thanks to its sea views – the beach is less than a five-minute walk away, while the centre of Moraira is reachable in eight.
