Springtime in Madrid is a beautiful time to visit the Spanish capital. When the clocks go forward, as if by magic, a wave of warmth sweeps the city, creating the perfect setting for a city break. As Madrid's beautiful parks bloom, you'll find locals and visitors tumbling out onto the sunlit streets, socialising with caipirinhas in hand and dancing till dawn - you can handle the fiestas here. Temperatures tend to hover around the 20ºC mark (far gentler than the almost unbearable summers when locals flock to the Costas). The mild to warm weather allows visitors to comfortably explore its world-class museums, galleries, and designer boutiques without reaching for the winter coat. The food here is really next level, too. You'll find traditional tapas around every corner, but don't forget to try the newer, stylish gastro bars for something extra special. Ski lovers, come this way. Whistler is the king of North American ski resorts - it always delivers, and you can bank on never running out of things to do here. The Canadian resort gets phenomenal snow from November to May, with March standing out as the best month - expect 'bluebird powder days. March means sunnier days, yet there's still heavy snowfall - a perfect combo for all-day skiing on the powdery slopes. Moreover, the lifts tend to be less busy this time of year. Climate-friendly travellers will be happy to hear that Whistler is committed to becoming carbon-neutral, too.
3. Dublin, Ireland

This may be an obvious choice for where to travel in March. Ireland's capital is buzzing with energy at this time of year, as locals and visitors gear up to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on the 17th, in honour of the country's patron saint. Across the city, there's an excess of parties and pub crawls - just stay sober enough to take pleasure in the colourful floats gliding down the main streets in the huge parade. The rhythmic tunes of fiddles and flutes can be heard all over, as traditional folk music permeates the air. But it's not all partying and Guinness in March - if you'd rather have a more lowkey time here, then head to the city's outskirts. Breathe in the fresh air, and make time to see the verdant countryside in all its natural glory. The iconic Cliffs of Moher are a must for your itinerary.
4. Cayman Islands

We get it. Some of you are looking past your screens at a grey day outside, and want to know: where can I find the best weather in March? Well, the Cayman Islands certainly fits the bill for those who yearn for a dose of Vitamin D (and that powdery sand between your toes) - it offers this in abundance. But there is so much more to this fantastic archipelago in the Caribbean islands. March is an excellent choice to visit the Cayman Islands due to the wonderful weather - highs of 29°C are ideal for water sports (and getting the perfect tan). Make your friends jealous by snapping the stingrays that flock to Grand Cayman, and winding down with a drink at a beach bar. What better way to see in the end of winter?

With its year-round sunshine and warm weather, it's hard to disagree with why people call these islands' Europe's hidden gem' - this is undoubtedly one of the very best places to travel to in March. The warm temperatures make the Canary Islands a real favourite, and it isn't difficult to understand why. The month brings longer, sunnier days without the gallivanting peak season tourists, making this prime time for enjoying the sub-tropical splendour amongst fewer crowds. With its wide beaches, verdant golf courses, eye-catching national parks, unforgettable volcano hikes, and even camel rides, there's a multitude of activities to choose from.
Las Palmas offers a serene two and a half-mile beach, Playa de las Canteras, which boasts a lovely urban shoreline with a promenade for a sunset stroll. For culture and history seekers, there's plenty of that too. Take a look inside the city's centuries-old Catedral de Santa Ana, and peer down at the city in all its beauty from the top of the 15th-century Roman Catholic cathedral. We also recommend getting a ferry to La Palma, one of the smaller, greener, and less populous islands - it offers something a little different in this archipelago. The sea is colder than you might expect in mainland Spain, but the rainforest trails that crisscross the island more than make up for it.

The Ben Youssef Madrasa, Jardin Majorelle's landscaped grounds, and the new YSL Museum are well worth a visit. If you still have the energy, the Ouzoud Falls and the picturesque village of Imlil in the High Atlas are more unmissable locations. While the daytime temperatures are a dream, don't forget your layers for the crisper evenings - lows can reach 9°C in the evenings, so bear that in mind while wandering the night markets.

Promenade your way through the beautiful winding Roman lanes, with all sorts of boutique shops and market stalls to peruse. You'll find jaw-dropping coastline scenery too, so admire the high cliffs that plunge into the Tyrrhenian Sea. It's worth taking a break on one of the many benches to really take it all in, and enjoy the simpler things in life alongside the lovely locals.
