The Contortionist is very special. Brimming with natural light, each room is designed with meticulous attention to detail – we love the different wallpapers and mix of pastel hues. The rooftop is its superpower, the striking views of Berlin with the TV Tower in the distance are mesmerising. The beds aren’t as luxurious as we would like them to be, but luckily all the bedrooms are captivating and filled with lots of small, curated details.

The Contortionist

Minimalist vibes ooze from this chic Berlin apartment. The exposed concrete walls, high ceilings, custom-made furniture, and industrial-sized windows create a modern loft-like vibe. Unfortunately, the balcony is shared with the neighbouring apartment and the kitchenette offers minimal support for cooking, so it's not the kind of place where you cook up a storm. The lack of artwork on the walls might make it feel a little too minimalist to some, but if you're interested in architecture, we're sure you'll appreciate all the innovative and original features as much as we do.

The Livin' Is Easy

Touch of Warhol is a cosy flat nestled between Kreuzberg and Neukölln in a neighbourhood the locals call Kreuzkölln. It’s up-and-coming, so expect hipster-esque hotspots full of artsy Berliners mixed in with these rough edges. This three-bedroom home is perfect for the artistically inclined, especially if you appreciate pop artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. The building is from the early 1900s and it’s been lovingly renovated with modern amenities, old-school board games and charming details aplenty. 

Touch of Warhol

With a large, well-equipped kitchen, and a wonderful patio, there’s no getting around the fact that this home is set up for having a good time. There’s also a sauna, which is the ultimate post-sightseeing treat. Location-wise, it almost doesn’t get any better than this. Rosenthaler Platz is rich in culture, and it’s also one of our favourite neighbourhoods – get ready to explore modern art galleries, one-of-a-kind cafes, quirky bars, and lots and lots of co-working spaces.

Monochrome Farben

With a funky mix of global influences, The Ventriloquist is Berlin chic to the bone. It’s easy to see that a lot of time and effort has been put into picking the right decorations – from the safari-style wall decorations to the tribal print rugs. There’s also a projector screen in the living room, encouraging you to stay in, slow down and watch a film. The immediate area might be a little too touristy for some, but there are also plenty of nearby places we love – one of them being Weinberg Park, the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon.

The Ventriloquist

Your host, Kitty, is an illustrator and this beautiful, luminescent apartment is her studio. We love how she’s transformed it into an elegant living space with more character than you can shake a paintbrush at. From her original art above the bed to her easels and paints sitting alongside an extraordinary collection of books and ornaments, this space is an art lover’s haven and a truly unique way in which to experience the city. The light here, too, is dazzling, pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors that lead out onto a private balcony. Sit here with your morning coffee and one of the many books, and relish the tranquillity of your inner courtyard setting. With a luxurious green-tiled tub (and the bathroom's underfloor heating) to retreat to after a day of exploring Berlin by foot, this home truly offers a canvas for a blissfully relaxing time. Outside of your home, you’ve got the Prenzlauer Berg neighbourhood on your doorstep packed with independent eateries, design boutiques, bike rentals, supermarkets, public parks and cosy coffee shops. Visit Mauerpark’s Sunday flea market (a twenty-five-minute walk), check out the KulturBrauerei for hip shops and music clubs (a fifteen-minute walk) or indulge in some retail therapy along trendy Kastanienallee and Alte Schönhauser Allee (both a twenty-minute stroll). Further afield, Museum Island – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is a thirty-minute walk, while Alexanderplatz is ten minutes away on the subway. 


Illustrations

Sitting atop a modern building, Musical Genius flows over Friedrichshain and provides an unobstructed bird-eye view of the modern city. It’s minimalist in style, which only adds more character to the antique family heirlooms that are so well-maintained that it looks as if they were created yesterday. Every corner of this home tells a story as it’s packed with personal touches like the beautiful fashion sketches and artworks created by the host’s children. Musical Genius also comes complete with a harp and piano for you to use - and let’s not forget about the sauna. 

Musical Genius

There’s a lot to like about Fruitful. Bright (courtesy of the huge windows), modern, and characterful, it’s a charming Prenzlauer Berg escape. Best of all? It’s super close to Volkspark Friedrichshain, one of Berlin’s most beloved parks. As it faces an inner courtyard, it’s pretty tranquil. But it’s still a studio, so don’t expect lots and lots of space (the bedroom is only separated from the living space by a partitioning wall).

Fruitful

Electric Feel is a great choice if you’re looking to see a different side of Berlin. Located in Friedrichshain, the neighbourhood is full of creative hubs, art galleries, and alternative coffee shops. The home itself is super modern – the kitchen is new (and well-equipped), and there’s even a little balcony to enjoy some down-time. The host, Minh, is a joy, and she’s especially excited to welcome you to her tranquil oasis in an edgy, artsy corner of the city.

Electric Feel

Parsley is like instant happiness – it's full of colour, chic decor and luscious houseplants. We love the bright shades of green mixing with the more saturated hues for an eye-catching look. There's somewhat of a 1960s feel to the apartment that we find super stylish and refreshing. There's a range of retro prints and tasteful artwork around the home too and the best part about it all? These trendy interiors are inside a charming Altbau building, with heaps of character, big windows and high ceilings, creating a bright and airy space to relax. The location is also great, with Alexanderplatz less than a five-minute walk away, equalling easy access to some of Berlin’s most popular sights. You're just over a kilometre from Museum Island, plus the eight courtyards of Hackesher Market are right around the corner. 

Parsley

The epitome of industrial chic, Easy Breezy comes with raw, exposed concrete walls and huge windows for panoramic city views, any time of the day. For architecture connoisseurs, this is the dream – not only is it surrounded by many important housing developments of the 1980s, but much of the furniture is also custom made by the architect’s office that owns the building. It’s set against the backdrop of lively Kreuzberg, so you’re also in good hands when it comes to great places to eat and drink.

Easy Breezy

Those who are particular about their design will fall head over heels for this penthouse apartment. For a start, the exterior is rather unique, as it's a new wooden development adapted respectfully on top of an industrial building dating back to 1905. The interior is a shining beacon of clean minimalism, in which every item has been selected carefully for maximum impact. The artwork on the walls, for example, is curated by different galleries and artists, and, as such, changes quite regularly. The kitchen, too, has been hidden away in a cabinet, so there's nothing but sleek white walls when it's not in use, and the linens are made from pure organic cotton. Sustainability is at the core of every piece of furniture and fixture within this home, with each piece carefully selected to have minimal environmental impact. Out through the glass doors — which are nothing but generous when it comes to natural light — you'll find the roof terrace, on which there's plenty of seating and a range of plants chosen for their fragrances, from bedstraw and thyme to wall pepper. Located in the quieter north of the Mitte district, there are lots of green spaces and historical curiosities to be found nearby, including the Silent Green Kulturquartier three minutes' walk away and Humbolthain state park only a quarter of an hour away.
