As expected for an 18th-century Copenhagen home, the layout of this large and oh-so-stylish studio is a little kooky. One bedroom with a handy desk nook is tucked into the eaves on a mezzanine, so it's not the most private of spaces. The living area, which houses a sofa bed for two guests, forms part of the main bedroom. And while the balcony is a bonus, it's pocket-sized. But you can't quibble with the location. Set slap bang in the middle of Indre By, you're within walking distance of all the city's must-sees. Get off to a flying start at the shopping mecca of Strøget – it's right outside your door. Just note that this is a central, noisy area – light sleepers may want to pack earplugs.

Centrally located and chicly styled, this apartment ticks all of our boxes. You'll be based in lively Indre By, just a short walk from Nyhavn's colourful harbour and Strøget's many shops. But even better than the location is the private roof terrace back home. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a Danish beer and admire the city views. Indoors, the pared-back interiors feature natural elements and lots of light. The kitchen isn't the biggest and there is some adult-themed artwork, but otherwise, it's a cosy option in the heart of the city.

Located in a quiet corner of Indre By but just a five-minute walk from the 17th century Nyhavn waterfront, this bright and welcoming apartment puts you right in the heart of Copenhagen’s action. We love the homey comforts on offer here, from the sheepskin throws to the inviting Scandi and vintage furnishings and the large windows proferring fourth-floor views over the city’s rooftops. Our favourite spot is the private balcony with its views of Christiansborg’s spire. Sit here with your morning coffee while soaking up the fresh air or gather at the elegant dining table with the French doors open to enjoy the warmth and cosiness of your home. With plenty of curios decking the shelves, original artwork, a record player to serenade your evenings and a beautiful antique bureau on which to catch up on work, you’re all set for a relaxing time here, whether for business or pleasure. Factor in the luxurious Hästens bed for a dreamy night’s sleep and you may never leave your comfortable home. A great option for a multi-generational family stay, each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, and the living spaces are palatial by inner-city standards. It's worth noting there's only one bathroom here, and four guests will be sharing the last bedroom – fine for family sharing, but it won't suit everyone. Expect street noise from time to time, too – but that's all part and parcel of central Copenhagen living.

A flat roomy enough for ten people right in the city centre is pretty much unheard of, so imagine our surprise when we found this gem. With five stylish bedrooms and an amply-sized living area meant for socialising, there's enough space here for a big group to spread out and get comfortable. The kitchen isn't massive – we'd only recommend it for cooking breakfast and other light meals – but we liked the vanity area outside the bathrooms, where you can prep hair and makeup without hogging the loo. There are other touches, too – USB plugs by all the beds, an Apple TV in the living space for at-home movie nights and no single-use plastic. This building has the highest eco-certification (A15) and it's run on renewable energy, so it's as good for the environment as it is stylish. Best of all is the location – Strøget is just around the corner, with restaurants, shops, cafes and bars all right on your doorstep. You're only two minutes away from Kongens Have and Rosenborg Castle as well, perfect for strolls in the sun.

Located on the third floor of a historic building without a lift, there is plenty of space for a group of nine to relax after a day of exploring. It’s worth noting there is only one bathroom here, but it's ideal for remote workers with dedicated desk space and families will appreciate the children’s amenities available for an additional fee. From here, it’s just a short stroll to the bars and restaurants of Nyhavn, while shops and historic sights are also within walking distance. 


Cityscape Sanctuary

Sleek and stylish, this apartment has everything you might need for a comfortable stay in Copenhagen. There's plenty of room for your group to spread out and relax – as long as two guests don't mind sleeping on a sofa bed in the living area. You'll also have access to a small balcony, which doesn't offer the most inspiring views, although we still think it's a pleasant space to unwind. Trendy Nørrebro is a short walk away, with plenty of shopping, parks and dining options nearby. The home is a short Metro ride from the city centre, but if you’re in search of a chic and well-equipped home, this is a great choice.

Do Copenhagen right and stay at this swoon-worthy Scandi apartment in the city centre. With light-filled rooms, an unbeatable location and the rare luxury of a private terrace, it doesn't get better than this modern home. 

The open-plan living area is the ideal hangout spot for your holiday downtown. Finished with bright furnishings and a touch of boho charm, the spacious room is lit up with not one, not two, but six windows. After preparing meals in the snazzy kitchen, you have a choice of places to dine – at the breakfast bar, the eight-person dining table, or outside in the sun (that's our pick, weather permitting). 

When it's time to explore the city, you won't have to travel far to take in Copenhagen's best sites. The cobbled Kongens Nytorv square is barely a five-minute walk away, and from here Nyhavn's colourful waterfront is another short hop. Enjoy lunch with a waterfront view, then meander through the characterful streets towards Christianshavn, a unique network of small islands. This is the place to be if you're a fan of street art and intimate music venues.

If you’re visiting as a group of eight, two guests will sleep on the living area sofa bed, so you might need to call it early some nights. But then again, with plenty of bars and concert venues nearby, we’re sure you'll spend your evenings out experiencing the Copenhagen culture.

Located right in the heart of Copenhagen, this eco-friendly apartment hits all the right notes when it comes to ease and simplicity. Outside, it’s a short stroll to Kongens Have and Kongens Nytorv. There are great public transport links and paid parking is available at a location nearby. Minimalists will appreciate the simple details of this apartment. It’s also family-friendly with space across two floors to stretch out and unwind. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area but this works nicely for larger groups.

Situated in the heart of Copenhagen, this apartment provides a perfectly practical space for groups visiting the city. Tivoli Gardens is less than a ten-minute walk away, while nearby Ørstedsparken is a great spot for escaping the city buzz. The master bedroom can be set up with twin single beds upon request and the double sofa bed adds flexibility. Just keep in mind that the second bedroom is partly open to the living area, so it lacks some privacy. Otherwise, the two large bathrooms will help to speed mornings along, so you can head out and spend more time exploring all that the Danish capital has to offer.

You're right in the thick of things at this smart downtown apartment, perched along Copenhagen's shopping mecca of Strøget. The metro is just 100 metres from your door, though we doubt you'll need it with buzzy Nyhavn Harbour and countless happening restaurants and cosy cafes within walking distance. It's worth noting if four of you share, the last two guests will have to make do with the sofa bed in the living space. You'll also need to prepare for some street noise from time to time. But we'll take that for a home with such an unbeatable location.

You can walk to the beach for a dip in the Øresund or ride the metro to three stops to visit the famous Nyhavn. Back home, the apartment is contemporary and comfortable. A bright living area and open-plan kitchen make it easy to unwind together – just note that there's a sofa bed for two. A whirlwind of green hues, this snug home brings an instant smile to our faces. It's warm and comfortable, with a large dining table perfect for sharing family meals and a cosy sitting area where you can kick back and relax with a glass of wine and Netflix. A small collection of books and board games only add to the homey feel, as do the large windows which flood the lounge with natural light. One of the bedrooms is rather tiny and the bathroom isn't the biggest we've seen, but the brilliant location more than makes up for it. We love this area's historic charm and quiet streets, yet buzzing restaurants, cafes and shops are all a short stroll away. You're also within walking distance to many of Copenhagen's most beloved sights – Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn, The Little Mermaid, Frederik's Church, you name it, chances are you can get to it easily. Best of all? The Danish queen lives just down the road, so if it's good enough for royalty, it's good enough for us.

Sage Advice

With all of Copenhagen's best bits within easy strolling distance, the location of this central Indre By apartment is hard to beat. While we can't fault the light-filled, Scandi interiors of the living area and bedrooms, the kitchen and bathroom set-up might be too compact for some. It's also worth noting that at full occupancy, the last two guests will be sharing a sofa bed in the lounge. But we're willing to let that slide for a home with such a spot-on location.

There’s no place like home… Until you’ve stayed in Master of Light that is. Casual luxury at its finest, it’s Copenhagen at its best. The location is extraordinary – you’re right besides Nyhavn, the city’s most famous postcard motif. And we can’t get over the design. Alexander clearly has a passion for Danish design, with works by Bang & Olufsen and Hans J. Wegner adorning every corner. There’s also a fantastic rooftop terrace with a nine-person hot tub, sun beds and a lounge arrangement, plus fantastic views of Copenhagen's historic buildings.



Master of Light

If you're looking for amusement on your city break, how about this home? It's just around the corner from Tivoli Gardens, a theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster. If you're not after an adrenaline rush, gardens and fantastic restaurants are also nearby. Like the park rides, this apartment has many highs and a few lows. The lift takes you right to the top floor, and we love the characteristic beams. At full capacity, though, there's only one bathroom between eight people – you’d better work out a rota for the mornings.

Heritage Haven

Split across two levels with a wooden ladder connecting the two, this two-bedroom home is ideal for younger travellers looking to be right in the centre of Copenhagen. Even though it lacks in entertainment options, you’ll not have to worry about finding things to do because The Conrad is situated in a repurposed office building on top of Strøget, Copenhagen’s busiest shopping street.

This city-centre apartment is seriously chic – we absolutely loved its minimalist Scandi vibes. The communal area is open and bright, offering plenty of space for all six guests to hang out together. There are thoughtful touches like vintage illustrated posters hanging on the wall above comfortable furniture from New Scandinavian Design maestros, Bolia. The glass-walled bedrooms are definitely a novel touch and create a strong impact. They certainly won't be to everyone's taste, but all have velvet curtains to pull across for some privacy when needed. With views onto Copenhagen's main shopping street, Strøget, you couldn't be better placed to hit the luxury boutiques and independent shops when the mood takes you. Plus, you're not far from the colourful waterside bars and restaurants of Nyhavn or the high culture of the Royal Danish Theatre – a little over a five-minute walk away.

Sitting right along the banks of Bryggen Syd, this apartment provides a sleek space for families and groups visiting Copenhagen. Now, we think the best way to explore the city is on foot or by bike, though there’s free street parking nearby too. From here, you can swim off Bådelaug Havnestad, enjoy drinks in Christianshavn or soak up some culture in Indre By. The interiors are modern with plenty of light thanks to the glass sliding doors, and we love how the sofa converts to a bed should you be visiting as a larger group. Just keep in mind that this is in the living area, so it lacks some privacy.

We love this studio apartment's location – it's steps away from Amager Strand. So, if you like to swim in the sea, kite surf or go for long walks on the beach, this is the place for you. The National Aquarium of Denmark is also just minutes away. The proximity to the airport and a metro station that takes you into the city centre in six minutes makes it ideal for tourists and business travellers alike. Back at this home's development, there's a shared gym, or relax on the king-sized bed in the apartment (there's no sofa or living room here). Yes, the kitchen is quite compact, but it does have an oven and hob, so you can still cook some Danish delicacies.

Tucked back from the hustle and bustle of the ever-popular harbourside hotspot of Nyhavn, this spectacular apartment ranks among our favourites in the city. 

A large open-plan living area is the focal point of any stay here, with a sleek handleless kitchen, a typically stylish mid-century dining table and chairs, plus a comfortable seating area. It's lined with windows along one side, letting in plenty of natural light during the day. When night falls, elegant pendant lights illuminate the space.

Stride out into the picturesque pocket of the city. This 17th-century canal, lined with colourful houses and stunning sailboats, continuously tops lists of Copenhagen's must-see sights, and it's easy to see why. But, while it may attract the tourists, there's no doubt that the locals love it just as much, and you'd be hard-pushed to find a better spot in the city to enjoy a cold beer on a warm summer's afternoon.

To the east, a bridge connects you to the cafes and canals of Christianshavn and the hippie haven of Christiania, where quirky self-built homes line the lake. While to the west lie Copenhagen's pedestrianised shopping streets and the low-key creative cool of Kødbyen, also known as the Meatpacking District, a ten-minute bike ride away.

Just a five-minute walk from this apartment will take you to the City Hall Square and the central station. It's the same walking distance to Tivoli Gardens, a magical theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster, gardens and restaurants. As with the rides at Tivoli, this apartment has some ups and downs – let's start with the good points. There's a shared garden perfect for beers in the summer, and the apartment itself is spacious. To enter the second bedroom, though, you will need to go through the third bedroom. This room doesn't have any windows but borrows light via French doors into the adjacent room, so privacy is also an issue – it’s probably fine for the kids, we would say.

This enchanting apartment is one of the colourful homes that line Nyhavn, a dreamy harbour of welcoming cafes and vibrant restaurants playing jazz. It's like walking through a Danish fairytale.

Begin your mornings wandering along the canal, coffee in hand as you bask in the picturesque scenery. Grab a pastry then stroll towards Christianhavn, one of the upbeat and flourishing hubs of the capital city. Here you'll find hip bars and eating spots to mingle with the locals. Stroget, Copenhagen's busy retail district, is the place to be if you want to immerse yourself in the city's shopping culture. Kongens Have (The King's Garden) is a short stroll away, as is the city’s largest square Kongens Nytorv, home to the Royal Theatre. Housed in a building constructed in 1958, this apartment is ideal for friends or family looking for an excellent location. It sleeps up to six guests with two people sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room at full capacity. We should also mention that your hosts also provide free access to the local gym if you want to keep up your fitness regime while away.

This penthouse apartment is located right on Strøget, the main pedestrian street in Copenhagen, making it ideal for visitors who want to explore the city on foot. Climb up to the top of the building and once you arrive, and you'll find a wonderfully light and welcoming space that's full of Scandi-style and designer furniture. The lovely kitchen and living space are great for socialising over some smørrebrødands and a glass of wine, and the gorgeous wooden floors and high windows add an extra level of charm. However, our favourite part of this home is the romantic little nook in the bay window where you can look out over the city's spires and rooftops. Back on ground level, you can stroll to Tivoli Gardens, the famous 19th Century amusement park, in less than ten minutes, while the iconic Nyhavn waterfront is a fifteen-minute walk away. 

The Olive Tree Loft

We think this home's location has the best of both worlds. It's just steps away from Amager Strand, perfect for a swim in the sea or long walks on the beach. Yet, the city centre can be reached in six minutes via Copenhagen's speedy metro system. Back at this home, there's a gym to keep up your fitness regime, or relax on the king-sized bed. While the bedroom is separate, this apartment is more like a studio as there's no sofa or living room here. The kitchen area is also quite compact, but it has an oven and hob. This place is the ideal base for a couple or solo traveller or those on business.

Sunlit Haven

Pictionary is just a five-minute walk away from Copenhagen’s Central station, which means that you’re very well-connected. Vesterbro is also lovely, especially if you’re looking to sample some new restaurants or coffee shops – or want to be in walking distance to Tivoli and Rådhuspladsen. It’s not the most characterful home on our books, but we like that it feels welcoming and bright. The kitchen is definitely the highlight – it’s large, modern, and well-equipped for cooking.

Looking for a central location near Copenhagen's landmarks? This minimalist apartment is a great choice. In five minutes, you can walk to the Royal Palace, Nyhavn, and Strøget, the famous shopping street. The design may be pared-back, but it's done well. There's an eat-in kitchen but no proper living area, so you'll need to unwind around the table. It's also on the third floor and doesn't have a lift. Still, we think being in such a convenient spot is worth it.

Since the apartment was renovated in 2013, it has been featured in several lifestyle magazines for its charming design aesthetic. Spread across three floors, unique quirks include the rather rustic ladders that take you up to the second and third floors. Curl up in a cosy corner with a book in hand and live the scene of what seems like it could be a fictional dream. Alongside world literature, the host also supplies guests with access to gym equipment, should you wish to keep up with your fitness routine while visiting Copenhagen. Around the apartment, the immediate area feels very local – the Christianshavn canals are just two minutes away, and so are plenty of restaurants. All in all, it's safe to say that this home is perfectly out of the ordinary.
