We love this studio apartment's location – it's steps away from Amager Strand. So, if you like to swim in the sea, kite surf or go for long walks on the beach, this is the place for you. The National Aquarium of Denmark is also just minutes away. The proximity to the airport and a metro station that takes you into the city centre in six minutes makes it ideal for tourists and business travellers alike. Back at this home's development, there's a shared gym, or relax on the king-sized bed in the apartment (there's no sofa or living room here). Yes, the kitchen is quite compact, but it does have an oven and hob, so you can still cook some Danish delicacies.

We think this home's location has the best of both worlds. It's just steps away from Amager Strand, perfect for a swim in the sea or long walks on the beach. Yet, the city centre can be reached in six minutes via Copenhagen's speedy metro system. Back at this home, there's a gym to keep up your fitness regime, or relax on the king-sized bed. While the bedroom is separate, this apartment is more like a studio as there's no sofa or living room here. The kitchen area is also quite compact, but it has an oven and hob. This place is the ideal base for a couple or solo traveller or those on business.

If you're looking for amusement on your city break, how about this home? It's just around the corner from Tivoli Gardens, a theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster. If you're not after an adrenaline rush, gardens and fantastic restaurants are also nearby. Like the park rides, this apartment has many highs and a few lows. The lift takes you right to the top floor, and we love the characteristic beams. At full capacity, though, there's only one bathroom between eight people – you’d better work out a rota for the mornings.

Just a stroll from Amager Strandpark, you'll find this apartment. Imagine going for a morning swim or walking on the beach daily – bliss. There's a bakery, café and restaurant on your doorstep, too, while the airport is a few minutes' ride away, making this place the ideal weekend retreat. Back at this home, there's a communal gym to keep up with your fitness regime. Or relax on the small patio area (it's open to the communal grounds, so it's not that private). Also, at full capacity, guest five will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the already fairly compact living space.

Sitting in one of Copenhagen's most desired spots, this apartment invites you to experience the capital from near the sandy shores of Amager Beach. A stone's throw from Øresund Metro station, you'll also be able to reach the city centre in less than twenty minutes. Inside, the apartment is well-equipped for groups with space to unwind and there's a sofa bed for added flexibility. Just keep in mind that the kitchenette is small, so only suitable for preparing light meals. That said, you'll find plenty of restaurants and cafes around. Plus, you'll have access to the on-site gym to help you burn off last night's supper.

As Copenhagen boltholes go, this is as central as it gets. Strøget, the mile-long pedestrianised shopping street, is right on your doorstep. All the must-see sights are within strolling distance. And should you need to be somewhere fast, Gammel Strand Metro is just a four-minute walk away. While there's plenty of space to spill out in that light-filled living room with table tennis set-up, it's worth noting the last two bedrooms are pocket-sized, with limited floor space. Also, there's only one bathroom – so be prepared for some waiting around in the mornings. But for a home this central, we can let that slide.

It's not every day you get to stay a five-minute stroll from a century-old wooden roller coaster. This studio apartment near Tivoli Gardens, Europe's second-oldest amusement park, is a real find. If you prefer more genteel thrills, there are gardens here and some fantastic restaurants. Like the theme park, this studio has a few ups and downs. There's a king-size bed to relax on when you return, but no sofa (there are a couple of chairs, though). The kitchen is also very compact, with little food preparation space, so we'd say it's best suited for preparing light meals like smørrebrød.

Size and style come in equal measure at this Copenhagen apartment. It's perched along the famous shopping mile, and most of the must-see sights are just a stroll away. A great option for a multi-generational family stay, each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, and the living spaces are palatial by inner-city standards. It's worth noting there's only one bathroom here, and four guests will be sharing the last bedroom – fine for family sharing, but it won't suit everyone. Expect street noise from time to time, too – but that's all part and parcel of central Copenhagen living.

Just a five-minute walk from this apartment will take you to the City Hall Square and the central station. It's the same walking distance to Tivoli Gardens, a magical theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster, gardens and restaurants. As with the rides at Tivoli, this apartment has some ups and downs – let's start with the good points. There's a shared garden perfect for beers in the summer, and the apartment itself is spacious. To enter the second bedroom, though, you will need to go through the third bedroom. This room doesn't have any windows but borrows light via French doors into the adjacent room, so privacy is also an issue – it’s probably fine for the kids, we would say.

Sitting right along the banks of Bryggen Syd, this apartment provides a sleek space for families and groups visiting Copenhagen. Now, we think the best way to explore the city is on foot or by bike, though there’s free street parking nearby too. From here, you can swim off Bådelaug Havnestad, enjoy drinks in Christianshavn or soak up some culture in Indre By. The interiors are modern with plenty of light thanks to the glass sliding doors, and we love how the sofa converts to a bed should you be visiting as a larger group. Just keep in mind that this is in the living area, so it lacks some privacy.

While the listed apartment building's exteriors are charming, the home's minimalist interiors aren't overly characterful and a little unconventional in places. Expect high ceilings in the living area, compact bedrooms with quirky internal windows, and a pocket-sized kitchen better suited to breakfasts and lighter bites. But with a bakery next door and restaurants aplenty close by, we don't think you'll mind.

This modern Scandi-style apartment is ideal for groups wanting to maximise their time both out and in, with a central location and a contemporary sociable space. But then again, with plenty of bars and concert venues nearby, we’re sure you'll spend your evenings out experiencing the Copenhagen culture.

The heart of Indre By is easily accessible by foot, and the Marmorkirken metro station is a ten-minute walk away. As there is not enough comfortable seating for a group of five, we recommend this place for groups who are always on the go. The kitchen, however, is fully equipped with everything you need for home cooking, and your host can arrange cleaning services for an additional fee.

Your host can configure the bedrooms how you’d like, just let them know if you’d prefer a king-sized or twin-single arrangement.

There's little space for socialising, with no living room to speak of. But each bedroom has a cushy chair and the dining banquette in the compact kitchen is a cosy spot for breakfast, and the bakery nearby will keep the pastries flowing. Outside, Nyhavn's buzzy cafes and restaurants are just around the corner. Kongens Nytorv Metro Station is also within easy reach, ready for you to blaze a trail across the city.

Plus, the nearby Metro takes you into the city centre with ease. The home features a dining table that doubles up as a laptop desk, as well as a sofa bed for two people – though we think this might be a bit of a squeeze. Also keep in mind that the kitchenette is very small, which may not be well-suited for longer stays.

There are vast green parks nearby for morning jogs, and when you're ready to hit the must-see sights, it's all just a couple of metro stops away. Back home, expect contemporary Scandi-inspired interiors and a balcony to call your own. If six guests share, the last two will have to make do with the sofa bed in the living room. Not ideal for some, but it could work great for a small family sharing.

Comfortable, convenient and chic, this apartment ticks a lot of boxes. It’s set a little out of the city centre, but a short Metro ride will take you to charming Nyhavn in less than half an hour. The location also means you're far removed from the crowds and traffic noise, with plenty of parks, canals, cosy cafes and museums to explore nearby. The small balcony is a nice bonus in Copenhagen, and the large dining table is well-equipped for dinner parties with your group. Note that two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living area, which isn't ideal for longer stays.

You'll also find plenty of shops, bars, and cafes nearby, while Copenhagen's popular Nyhavn district is only fifteen minutes away. It's a prime spot, just so long as you don't mind hopping on public transport to reach the city centre. Ideally suited for families or groups of friends, the home itself offers everything needed for a relaxing stay, including a modern kitchen, a laptop desk, and a private balcony – perfect for morning coffees in the sunshine.

Despite being the owners' main home, the space is uncluttered – you won't feel like you're intruding here. We love the charming kids' room, while the terrace is perfect for your morning coffee. You're close to a canal if you fancy a stroll, and the relaxed neighbourhood is brimming with cafes and shops. When you want to hit the centre, you'll find yourself well-connected.

While the central location of this spacious Indre By bolthole is impressive, it does come with its compromises. Set above a popular bar that's open daily – it's not the most peaceful spot in the city. It's also worth noting the last two guests will be sleeping in a communal area with only internal windows, so natural daylight is lacking. But the pocket-sized private balcony with views over the historic streets below is a nice touch for morning coffees, and you can't fault the contemporary Scandi interiors.

If you're looking for a Copenhagen bolthole that delivers on both style and location, this Indre By apartment should do nicely. While there is heaps of space for everyone to spill out in the free-flowing living areas, the stylish yet compact bedrooms may be a let-down for some. Prepare for some waiting around in the mornings, too, with only one bathroom. Although with a light-filled dining area for lazy breakfasts, what's the big rush? Set in a lively area of Indre By, expect some street noise. But that's all par for the course for a home this central.

As expected for an 18th-century Copenhagen home, the layout of this large and oh-so-stylish studio is a little kooky. One bedroom with a handy desk nook is tucked into the eaves on a mezzanine, so it's not the most private of spaces. The living area, which houses a sofa bed for two guests, forms part of the main bedroom. And while the balcony is a bonus, it's pocket-sized. But you can't quibble with the location. Set slap bang in the middle of Indre By, you're within walking distance of all the city's must-sees. Get off to a flying start at the shopping mecca of Strøget – it's right outside your door. Just note that this is a central, noisy area – light sleepers may want to pack earplugs.

Nordic Dream

You're right in the thick of things at this smart downtown apartment, perched along Copenhagen's shopping mecca of Strøget. The metro is just 100 metres from your door, though we doubt you'll need it with buzzy Nyhavn Harbour and countless happening restaurants and cosy cafes within walking distance. It's worth noting if four of you share, the last two guests will have to make do with the sofa bed in the living space. You'll also need to prepare for some street noise from time to time. But we'll take that for a home with such an unbeatable location.

If you’re searching for classic Scandinavian design in a fantastic location, this apartment delivers. Located on the third floor of a historic building without a lift, there is plenty of space for a group of nine to relax after a day of exploring. It’s worth noting there is only one bathroom here, but it's ideal for remote workers with dedicated desk space and families will appreciate the children’s amenities available for an additional fee. From here, it’s just a short stroll to the bars and restaurants of Nyhavn, while shops and historic sights are also within walking distance.

Located on the doorstep of Nørrebro – one of Copenhagen's cool city suburbs known for its cultural diversity, this location is brimming with late-night bars, speciality coffee shops, and bohemian boutiques. Although on the smaller side, it is fitted out with the essentials, making it a good choice for solo travellers, couples, or those visiting on business. And, while it’s maintained to a high standard, don’t expect any frills. It may not be the most characterful space, but for a short city break, it has everything you could need, with plenty to see and do right on your doorstep.
