The studio's wood-clad walls make for a warm welcome, while the compact kitchenette is perfect for light bites and warming drinks. What the studio lacks in social space, the shared facilities more than make up for. Nearby, there's a conveniently located SPAR shop for stocking up on essentials. Alternatively, drop down over the other side of the mountain into Lech for a wider selection.

Berghütte

Located in Montafon valley and within walking distance of the town centre of Gaschurn, you’ll stumble across four chalets right at the foot of rolling green hills. With each of them sleeping twenty-two guests, you’ll have two in their entirety at your leisure for your ski holiday. Wake up early to stoke the fireplace so you can properly enjoy your morning coffee by the crackling fire before coming together in the kitchen to put a continental breakfast together – but there’s also a hotel a few minutes away that serves breakfast.

When you’re covered up and ready to hit the slopes, you’ll find various ski lifts dotted around the area, but the closest will take you to a 2010 metre altitude where you can test your mettle on intermediate, advanced, and expert slopes. The snowboarders in your group might also rejoice in the fact that there's a halfpipe where they’re able to practice their runs. 

After a day on the slopes – and a quick stop at any one of the cosy restaurants – head back home to unwind and get warm. Games can be played in the lounge, puzzles built on one of the dining tables and the entire group can come together on the terrace outside to admire the clear night sky. 

The Twin Chalets

Among the snowy mountains and sweeping valleys of Schruns, this stylish apartment is offers a picturesque mountainside escape in the heart of one of Austria's magnificent ski resorts. This luxurious chalet in the Montafon Valley was designed for huge family and group gatherings in the utmost comfort and style. It sits against a lush (in summer) meadow-sprawled mountain just on the outskirts of Gaschurn. You can walk into the town centre in ten minutes to find restaurants and bars for aprés-ski, the gondola up to the ski slopes is just five minutes away on foot, and the free ski bus stops 50 metres from your front door.

The huge, open-plan living and dining room is set around an open fireplace, perfect for socialising with a hot drink or two after a day on the slopes. There are several dining booths to accommodate the whole group, and cocktails can be whipped up at the pinewood breakfast bar. The bedrooms are reminiscent of an Alpine forest, with raw wood walls and bunks and double beds built into the walls. Murals of the snowy mountains let you know it’s all about the ski life here and there’s a private drying room for ski suits and salopettes. What’s more, a private sauna awaits for the ultimate post-ski unwinding session.

Gerda & Kai
