The home is only 200m away from the beach, meaning you can spend your days wandering along the shore, splashing in the waves or relaxing in the sun. You’ll also be in the perfect location to explore the town of Bredene on foot.

Only a thirty-five-minute drive from the hustle and bustle in Bruges lies the quiet, sprawling shores of Bredene Strand. Flanked on one side by lofty sand dunes and the other by the refreshing waters of the North Sea, this stretch of Belgium's coast is as relaxing as it sounds. 

You'll find this light-filled pad just a five-minute stroll from the beach. You're so close to the water, in fact, you can glimpse the rolling waves from the enormous windows – the perfect backdrop for pastries and coffee in the morning and cocktails come sunset. Out on the balcony, soak up the evening rays and bask in the invigorating salty air with a glass of Belgian white wine.

Understated and sleek, the pared-back design is all about crisp whites and Scandinavian simplicity. Sprawl out on the open-plan living area's orange leather sofas or gather around the dining table for a dinnertime soirée, feasting on mules-frites (steamed muscles and fries) or Flemish shrimp croquettes.

It's only a five-minute walk to the long stretch of Bredene Strand, with the Black Sea to cool off in, while the cultural city of Ostend is a 15-minute drive. Need some peace and quiet? There's a deep tub in the bathroom for soaking away any worries or curl up with a book underneath the skylights in the master bedroom.

It may be on the smaller side, but Belgium's coastline still packs plenty of delights. This includes the seaside town of Bredene where you'll find this modern apartment.

On one side of the space, a huge glass door bathes the interior with ample amounts of natural light and also opens up to a balcony with enough room to sit out. Back inside, the furnishings and finishes are all contemporary in style, particularly the neutral colour scheme and the minimalist kitchen with a wealth of surface space for whipping up hearty dinners.

If you find that you're never quite in the mood to cook, there's a good selection of cafes and restaurants running along the road outside the building. More importantly, however, you won't fail to notice just how close the beach is — we're talking five minutes' walk, if that.

From chilly dips in the Black Sea and lying on De Haan beach to playing golf at the nearby course, this home is close to some great summer activities. It's a small space – best suited for small families or a group of close friends – with an open-plan living space to play card games, rustle up light meals, or curl up with a book on the sofa. Ocean-inspired trinkets decorate walls, from a fishing net and wooden carvings to boat prints. Bedrooms are both filled with daylight from the French doors, wake up and head out to the terrace for an alfresco cup of coffee before exploring the area. The flat is in an excellent position to explore Belgium, while incorporating in a seaside holiday, with Bruges 30 minutes by car, and art-filled Ostend just 15.

On a small holiday development just meters from the beach, this home – built in 2020 – is smart and modern. With an upside-down arrangement to make the most of the views, it's stylish, comfortable and has a great, sunny position. On the ground floor, you'll find the bedrooms and bathroom, along with access to a pretty garden with a patio and lawn. The first-floor living space is open-plan, bright and well-thought-out. Cook in the well kitted-out kitchen, get comfy on the huge sofa or enjoy meals at home together – either indoors or out on the stunning balcony. Pale grey tiled floors, white walls and floor-to-ceiling windows create a cool, relaxing space, while houseplants and reindeer moss wall art add a touch of nature. Walk to the beach, cycle to the nearby children's fun park De Sierk or head further afield to explore Ostend (fifteen minutes by car) or Bruges (thirty minutes). There's a bike storage room in your home, a rental facility nearby if you haven't brought your own and there happens to be an excellent bakery just around the corner.

This place has plenty of outdoor space – there's a shared garden with a lawn to enjoy here too. Relax in the bright and comfortable living space with its large windows and soothing neutral hues. This abode is perfect for small families – we love the cute lights around the bunk beds. Whip up some lunch in the modern white kitchen with some goodies from the local bakery – it's only 400 metres from this lovely home. Your hosts can arrange bicycle hire too, so explore Hippo Beach on bikes – it's around 700 metres away. Or, head to Ostend, just over a ten-minute drive and visit historic Fort Napoleon, along with the Mercator, a 1930s ship, now a floating museum.

The fireplace beckons you on colder evenings and creates a romantic atmosphere –  perfect for trying Belgian beer. Having the kitchen in the open-plan living space may dissuade you from experimenting with anything pungent, but at least you can keep the designated cook company as they prepare dinner. From your doorstep, you're just a short stroll from historic sites, restaurants and bars, while the River Leie is only five minutes away.
