We love the characterful details that have been thoughtfully curated to create a laid-back, stylish vibe like the vases filled with pampas grass and the abstract art decking the grey-blue feature wall. Those looking for an active start to the day can head to the on-site fitness centre before a day of exploring, while evenings call for barbecues on the shared grills and starlight soaks in the communal rooftop’s hot tub. With a store on the ground floor too, you’re all set if you need to pick up supplies, while all around you restaurants, bars and independent boutiques wait to be discovered. You’re also just a twelve-minute walk from both Lake of the Isles and Bde Maka Ska for boating, cycling and walking trails, while Cedar Lake South Beach is a thirty-minute stroll from your door.


Pampas & Pearl

Freshly built, this modern home is right in the heart of the buzzing Downtown East area. It's a contemporary city apartment with amazing rooftop views and huge windows, with everything provided so you can move straight in and just get on with your trip. Inside, it's minimal and clean-cut, with smart furnishings and a big, sociable living space – so everyone can gather over breakfast or pre-dinner drinks. You can even grab some air thanks to a private balcony. There's loads to do nearby, from bike riding through West River Parkway to visiting the Guthrie Theatre. And easy Skyway access means you can get around locally in winter without feeling the cold.  

The Dance Electric

From Motown records to Ford Mustang convertibles, Detroit is known for its grit, groove and charisma. You’ll find this accessible apartment in the heart of Downtown, a fifteen-minute walk from the riverfront and a six-minute stroll to Greektown, making it the perfect base to take in the best of Motor City. After exploring the speakeasies and boutiques along Woodward Avenue, return to your mid-century pad for a moment's rest and relaxation. While classic cars and soulful music are no longer the only reason to visit the city, we love how this apartment reclaims a bit of that early Sixties magic, with its stylish furnishings and bold wallpaper prints. Enjoy a sneaky afternoon snooze on the comfy, hotel-quality bed or set the dining table for a little grub knocked up in the handy kitchenette. This home offers all of the usual mod-cons needed for a long, stress-free stay – there's even a 7-Eleven downstairs. Later, take a leafy stroll in the tranquil surrounding area or head to Campus Martius Park (a four-minute walk) for a scenic green open space to wander. 

Cruisin'

Looking at the neoclassical exterior of this magnificent building, you might be surprised to hear that it was once a furniture store. Today, however, it's home to a collection of apartments providing a memorable stay in Detroit, including this pristine studio. Running along one side of the open living space, the huge windows flood the space with natural light and look out to views of the city's skyscrapers. At one end, there's a comfy bed sitting underneath a feature wall and at the other, there's a decently sized kitchen that will have you covered when you just fancy staying in for the night. What more could you want? If you answered access to a gym, we're happy to tell you that the building also has a communal fitness centre so you can keep notching up the reps. When you're in the mood to explore, the shops in the Art Deco Guardian Building sit nine minutes' walk in one direction and the city's Opera House lies eleven in the other. 

The Engine Room

Once an early 20th-century furniture store, this historic apartment building boasts neoclassical architecture and fabulous city views – not to mention a fantastic location in the heart of downtown Detroit. It's where you'll find this trendy studio apartment, which has everything you'll need for a stay in the city. Although pocket-sized, we think the layout makes the most of the space. Plus, it doesn't compromise on essentials – there's a fully-equipped kitchen for when you fancy cooking as well as in-unit laundry facilities. There's even a communal fitness room on-site, so you'll never have to miss a workout. But the best part of all is the location. Both the iconic Guardian Building and Campus Martius Park are a seven-minute walk away, while the riverfront is fifteen minutes on foot. The wide array of restaurants, cafes, bars and boutiques on Woodward Avenue are right around the corner, too – but if you want to explore further afield, Michigan Avenue Station is just two minutes away.

Motown Magic

Right around the corner from the eateries, cafes, bars and boutiques on bustling Woodward Avenue is where you'll find this trendy apartment. It's close to all the sights downtown – including the Guardian Building, the Detroit River and Campus Martius Park – so you'll be well-placed for exploring Motor City. Or, if you want to explore a little further, Michigan Avenue Station is just a two-minute stroll away. Following a long day in the hustle and bustle, come back to this cosy apartment and make yourself right at home. Sprawl out on the sofa as you stream a show on the Chromecast, rustle up a meal in the well-appointed kitchen or do a spot of work at the dining table. A small communal fitness room ensures fitness buffs will never miss a workout, and with a cosy bed, big windows showing off the city views, air conditioning and in-unit laundry, you'll have everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Motown Groove

Surrounded by green spaces and just a stone’s throw from the Mississippi River, this bright, elegant apartment is an ideal base from which to experience the city’s best sights. We love the simple sophistication of this home’s decor, from its wood floors to its soft, contemporary furnishings and large windows that let plenty of sunshine flow through. Thoughtful details like the fiddle-leaf tree, rocking chair and pieces of art add plenty of character to the space, while the industrial-style lighting above the sleek kitchen recalls the neighbourhood’s past as the city’s centre for flour milling. Factor in the on-site fitness centre, lounge with a roaring fire and communal courtyard with barbecues for grilled feasts aplenty (there's a Trader Joe's downstairs for fresh produce) and you’ve got everything you need for a relaxing stay. Outside of your home, you’re just a three-minute walk from the Guthrie Theater, a four-minute stroll from Mill Ruins Park and the Stone Arch Bridge, and the U.S. Bank Stadium – home of the Minnesota Vikings football team – is six minutes away on foot. 


Sweet Fig

Located in Minneapolis’s Downtown East district – once the centre of the city’s flour milling industry – this bright, modern apartment puts you within easy reach of countless sights while providing a warm and welcoming home base. We love the characterful touches in the decor, from the art prints and patterned rug in the living room to the bedroom’s plaid feature wall decked with decorative vintage snowshoes. Then the tough decisions begin – do you spend the day in the communal pool, chilling out in the shared lounge and games room or working up a sweat in the on-site fitness centre? The communal courtyard also has barbecues for grilling up an alfresco feast (there’s a Trader Joe’s downstairs for fresh produce too), so the options for fun and relaxation are endless. Alternatively, head outside to explore the sights – the Guthrie Theater is a three-minute walk away, Gold Medal Park on the Mississippi River is walkable in four, while U.S. Bank Stadium – home of the Minnesota Vikings – is three minutes on foot from your door. 


Sourdough & Rye

This apartment is surprisingly spacious, with ample room to make yourself at home during a trip to Minneapolis. Standout features include the huge windows which flood the space with light, the chic patterned rug, and the carefully curated selection of stylish furniture. You'll love getting comfy on the powder blue sofa for an evening in, or chatting with your fellow guests as you whip up something tasty to share in the kitchen. There are also several amenities to make use of during your stay. Get active in the on-site gym then refuel with a grilled feast cooked at the barbecue station – with views over the Twin Cities skyline, the rooftop is the best place to watch the sunset. Outside, the North Loop district is packed with boutiques and independent restaurants, along with a good few entertainment venues. And, with plenty of hiking and cycling trails along the nearby Mississippi River, it's easy to stay active in the city. 

Star Chart

Start your engines, and drive back into a bygone era of soulful old music bars, low-key speakeasies and classic cars at this accessible apartment in Downtown Detroit. While the convenient location sets you up perfectly for all there is to eat, drink and do nearby, we especially love how the apartment recaptures some of the early sixties magic of Motor City with its retro-styled interiors and bold wallpaper prints. Mixing mid-century decor with elegant furniture, marble tabletops and hotel-quality bedding, the home will have you relaxing in style from the get-go. Watch over the city through the large windows, as you enjoy a home-cooked meal in the light-filled dining area. Better still, head downstairs to the handy 7-Eleven and stock up on a few naughty treats to devour in bed. Spend your days exploring lively Greektown, an eight-minute walk away, or head to the Detroit riverfront – our favourite place to stop with a bite to eat – around eleven minutes from home. 

Joy Ride

If you're staying in Minneapolis, it doesn't get much more central than the Downtown East neighbourhood. This contemporary building rises above the street, offering a short walk to the US Bank Stadium and access to miles of Skyway. Visit the iconic Stone Arch bridge and the ruins of old flour mills along the river, or walk to the nearby Guthrie Theatre. Inside, it's an unfussy, modern apartment with big windows, comfy furniture and all the equipment you could need for an easy stay. The building comes with some excellent communal amenities too – there's a guest lounge, a year-round rooftop spa and a Skyline viewing deck. Surrounded by great bars and eateries, you're right in the thick of things.

Better Together

Right in the heart of Downtown Detroit, close to the riverfront and Greektown, this two-bed apartment is a fantastic base for exploring the best of Motor City. While there might only be a couple of automotive companies standing in what was once the epicentre of US car manufacture, the apartment's decor harks back to the early Sixties, when Motown was rocking and cars were rolling off Detroit production lines at a record pace. Think elegant furnishings and retro artwork, all illuminated by plenty of natural light, thanks to the large windows looking out over the city. Downstairs there's a 7-Eleven to keep you stocked up on late-night snacks, and of course, Greektown isn't far away, with its fantastic restaurants and vibrant bars (helped along by neighbourhood-wide happy hours). Getting around on public transport is a breeze, and you can be exploring the Eastern Market or Detroit Institute of Arts in approximately twenty minutes, while the Motown Museum is just under a forty-minute bus ride away.
