The apartment is bright and comfortable. There’s a kitchenette and a dining table, so you can easily whip up quick meals if you don’t fancy eating out. Though with the food being so heavily influenced by nearby Italy, you’ll surely want to sample at least some of the local cuisine. 

Lugano is just nineteen minutes away by car. Known as the Monte Carlo of Switzerland, Lugano boasts incredible views and a laid-back vibe – perfect for a holiday. You’ll probably spend most of your time on the shores of the glacial lake, stopping for coffee or enjoying alfresco meals while taking in the scenery. Riding the funicular railway is a great way to spend an afternoon, and the views are amazing. 

For a day at the beach, drive just ten minutes to the grassy Lido San Domenico. Laze in the sunshine on the lake’s shore, sip chilled drinks, and feel your worries melt away.

After a morning coffee and breakfast spread, walk seven minutes to the Museo delle Culture, a fascinating collection of works from India and South-East Asia. A twenty-minute stroll from the shores of Lake Lugano, this swish little apartment is perfect for a couple or solo traveller. The living area is set around an L-shape, so the dine-in kitchen feels separate from the sleeping quarters, despite it being a studio. Trinkets and object d’art on glass shelves add a touch of character. Come bedtime, a murphy bed transforms the living room into a bedroom. Within the building, you’ve got access to a gym, lounges and a communal working space.

Exploring Lugano is easy on foot from your central location. A twenty-five-minute walk through the picture-perfect streets sees you at Piazza della Riforma for a bit of Swiss-Italian aperitvo in one of the pavement cafés. Stock up on fresh, local produce two days a week at the farmer’s market, a twenty-minute walk away. 

Bubble by the Lake

After a blistering afternoon on the endless slopes of LAAX, you can ski almost all the way home to this resort apartment, just 50 metres from the lifts. Or in the summer months, you can hike home forty minutes from the forest lake of Caumasee, on the site of the biggest prehistoric rockslide in the Alps. Whichever activity you’re drawn to, this apartment will be ready to welcome you back with its chic minimalist vibe.

The exterior of the block is wonderfully modern, almost leaning toward Brutalist ideals. Grey concrete blocks and asymmetric windows create an interesting contrast to the lush green lawns and thick forests of summer, but blend in with the grey skies and white landscapes when the region becomes swathed in snow. Inside, things are cosy all year round. Wooden features, walls, and understated furnishings make this a fuss-free spot where you can hang up your hiking boots or skis and sip hot cocoa.

Of course being on such a vibrant resort, this home has its fair share of amenities, from winter sports, to mountain bike trails and canoeing for the outdoorsy types. And those of us looking for a little relaxation are also well catered for, with spas, saunas, boutique shops, and bars dotted around your locale.

Although compact in size, this bright and modern studio apartment, situated in the picturesque town of Lugano, is a comfortable and cosy place for a couple or a solo traveller to base themselves while they explore the wonders of this stunning part of Switzerland.

You’ll also find a charming local farmers’ market offering the best fresh produce. For business travellers, the apartment is just an eleven-minute walk from the Centro Esposizioni Lugano exhibition centre and an eighteen-minute walk from the Palazzo Dei Congressi Lugano.

Between the Lake & the Mountain 

Perched on a slope in a tranquil position, you'll find this beautiful apartment with the most incredible views. Ideally located for ski bunnies and hiking enthusiasts, you'll feel like the mountains are hugging you at all times when you stay here. Stepping out onto the terrace, you'll be able to breathe in the fresh mountain air while you admire the scenery – but the views are just as jaw-droppingly good from the comfort of the plush corner sofa. Open plan living, lofty ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows make this place a delight to spend time together in. And when you’re ready to head out on an adventure, the gondola is only 600m away, and the ski bus is pretty much right outside your door. After working up an appetite on the slopes, warm up around the fire and fire up the raclette grill and fondue set for a truly traditional Swiss end to the day.

Peaks and Valleys

On a pretty hillside, within sight of the snowcapped mountains, this historic chalet dates back to the late 1700s. Full of character, it's as chocolate-box perfect as they come, with a private balcony and a Scandinavian wood stove in the living room. Recently refurbished, it's comfortable and surprisingly spacious.

Inside, it's floor-to-ceiling natural wood, with a high, vaulted ceiling and all the living space open-plan. A cosy sofa area and dining table are over by the warm fire, and the kitchen is fully kitted out for cooking at home. And while one bedroom and a bathroom are on this level, a climb up the wooden stairs reveals a typical loft room with sleeping space for up to four more.

Ideal as a base for walking or cycling in the summer – and with a storage room for your kit on the lower level – this home is also just a short drive from the ski area. Set in a little village, you'll experience an authentic stay in the Alps like no other.

Chocolate & Charm

110 m2. More information by the provider: House Sole is situated next to the Hannigbahn (hiking and sledging area), slightly elevated above the village of Saas-Fee. This guarantees a wonderful view over the village & mountains. It is a 5-minute walk to the village centre and 10-12 minutes to the ski area. Ski lockers for skis & boots are available for guests at the slopes.

The penthouse is on the 2nd floor and has recently been completely renovated. The flat has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. 3 bedrooms are equipped with a double bed, the fourth bedroom has a bunk bed. The bathrooms are very modern, both with shower/toilet & washbasin. The living room is bright and large and equipped with a cosy fireplace. The open, modern kitchen also leaves nothing to be desired. The highlight is the south-facing balcony with a brilliant view of the village & the mountains of Saas-Fee. Additionally, the apartment has a private washing machine & dryer plus free Wi-Fi.

Visitor's tax: Summer: CHF 7.00/day for adults, CHF 3.50/day for children (6 - 16 years). Winter: CHF 4.50/day for adults, CHF 2.25/day for children (6 - 16 years). All our guests receive the SaastalCard. The SaastalCard grants numerous attractive discounts like unlimited use of 8 of the 9 lifts in summer. In addition, the use of buses in the Saas Valley is free all year round. Bed linen and towels are included in the price.
