As well as a balcony leading off from one of the bedrooms, guests are also treated to a large terrace at ground level complete with a swimming pool and an alfresco dining table, plus a rooftop terrace from which to gaze out at the Mediterranean Sea on the horizon. 

Although you may well prefer to spend as many hours in the open air as possible, you won't feel short-changed when you eventually head inside. Walk behind the glass doors and you're greeted with a space that feels bright and inviting, thanks in main to the stark white walls, shiny floor tiling and open layout that lets the light flow about unimpeded.

When you want to swap the swimming pool for the sea, the nearest beach – Green Bay – is only 700 metres from the front door and there are plenty more to be discovered along the Cyprian coastline, including Konnos and Fig Tree Bay. The centre of Protaras itself is only 1.8km away for when you need shops and restaurants.

Yes, this villa is only 400 metres from the beach and not much further to the centre of the resort town of Protaras, but we'd like this address even if it was in the middle of nowhere. Only recently built, the interior feels fresh and contemporary, but our greatest praise is reserved for the outdoor space. Not only is there a particularly inviting swimming pool, but there's also a balcony with glorious views of the Med and vast amounts of terrace space on which to sunbathe, dine alfresco to even play pool out in the open air.

Just 600m from the famous Fig Tree beach, this villa certainly knocks it out of the park when it comes to location. It overlooks the glistening waters of the Mediterranean, so days spent basking in the rays and swimming in the sea are a given. In between sunbathing sessions, explore Protaras – sample Cypriot cuisine at the local restaurants, browse the trinkets at the souvenir shops or wander through Cape Greco National Forest Park in search of breathtaking views.
