Only recently built, the interior feels fresh and contemporary, but our greatest praise is reserved for the outdoor space. Not only is there a particularly inviting swimming pool, but there's also a balcony with glorious views of the Med and vast amounts of terrace space on which to sunbathe, dine alfresco to even play pool out in the open air.

Get a taste of coastal Cyprus living at this beautifully-appointed villa, perched right on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea. There's plenty of outdoor space – from the alfresco dining area to the covered terrace, sun loungers and private pool – the views speak for themselves. Located in a peaceful spot, just a 10-minute walk away from the nearest beach in Ayia Triada, and close to great shops, lovely restaurants, and vibrant bars. The home is designed in a cool and contemporary style, with glossy tiled floors, decorative stonework and floor-to-ceiling windows. It also features some fantastic amenities, including the private outdoor pool that is very inviting on hot summer days.

Wake up on sunny Cyprus mornings and throw open the curtains to bring the outside in. Make a pot of coffee and sip on it in your alfresco lounge area while enjoying the stunning surroundings. Cool off from the rising heat with a dip in your outdoor pool, before grilling up some Cypriot sausages on your barbecue. Enjoy spending the afternoon relaxing on a poolside lounger with a good book. When the evenings roll in, head up to your balcony with a Zivania cocktail and share a toast while you watch the sunset.

Forgetting about time is encouraged here, so if you find yourself out late, stop by the restaurants lining the boardwalk for an authentic dinner before returning home. Alternatively, stock up on ingredients for vegetable skewers and marinated chicken and fire up the grill back at the villa for a barbecue at sundown. 

When you aren't at the beach, spend days at home in and around the pool – occupy a sun lounger with a book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. Stay out after dark for a bit of stargazing before watching a family movie on the plush sofa. 

Aphrodite's Cove

This villa opens its doors to a swimming pool, garden and dining terrace, making it perfect for families and friends looking for a private outside space to relax and soak up the sunshine. Though, our favourite spot is on the rooftop terrace, with beautiful views out to the sea. Inside, it's bright and open, but the interiors are fairly uninspired. The bedrooms are on the smaller side too, so with recommend packing light. Location-wise, the villa is just a five-minute walk from the nearest sandy beach and is ideal for exploring the beautiful resort of Protaras. 

The Garden in Blue 

If your perfect holiday involves bathing in luxurious bodies of water, this villa is tailor-made just for you. A glistening pool shapes the outdoor space, a hot tub defines the roof terrace and the villa is just five minutes from the beach. It's a liquid paradise. 

Start your day by the pool, breaking up sunbathing sessions with refreshing dips in the water. After a few lengths, rustle up some breakfast and enjoy each bite with a cup of coffee at the breakfast bar. 

Afternoons can be spent at your own pace. Visit the charming bars and welcoming restaurants of Kapparis, showcasing a preview into the local lifestyle. After a fresh drink, while away the hours on the golden sands of the gorgeous beaches.

While you're out for the day, pick up a bottle of wine or champagne to enjoy in the hot tub. Watching the mesmerising tones of sunset with a glass in your hand and the hot tub jets massaging your skin is a blissful experience.

From here, you'll be just a five-minute walk from the beach, an array of lively bars, delicious eateries and close-by shops. Sweet Nothing 

Minimalist and with views of the sea, you'll love idling by the pool all summer long here. A word of caution – with the vibrant Fig Tree Bay at a five minute walk, beach lovers and cave explorers will have plans of their own. Drive barely 15 minutes and you'll reach Ayia Napa, a town dotted with Blue Flag beaches, historical sites and a nightlife to remember. Nicosia, an hour away, caters to shopaholics and lovers of souvlaki, among other scrumptious delights. Louma Beach and Lombardi Beach are ideal for long coastal hikes. With so much to do, you'll be happy to escape to your starry roof-deck for a bottle of wine before calling it a day.

Marshmallows is a compact yet swanky home located in the Protaras resort. While we do love the idea of idling away by the pool and spending sunsets firing up the barbecue grill, it helps to remind yourself that you're a stone's throw from many vetted spots in Cyprus. Sunbathe at the Yianna Marie Beach or have a go at water sports at the gorgeous Fig Tree beach – both at walking distance. Enjoy the gorgeous landscapes as you hike or cycle around the Troodos Mountains. Summers are perfect for exploring vineyards in medieval villages. Likewise, if you love winter-sports, you will regret not coming back here.

On hotter days, take refuge in the air-conditioned bedrooms. Close to the gorgeous coastal town of Protaras as well as the restaurants and shopping areas at the beach, you have plenty to indulge in right in your vicinity. However, if adrenaline fuelled water-sports, scuba diving or snorkelling are on your mind, there are plenty of submerged caves and rock formations to satiate that desire as well.
