Of course, close proximity to the sea doesn’t hurt, and this villa lies only a short walk away from Perera Beach. Spend days in the salty surf, only getting up to stroll the boardwalk in search of an ice cream cone. 

Forgetting about time is encouraged here, so if you find yourself out late, stop by the restaurants lining the boardwalk for an authentic dinner before returning home. Alternatively, stock up on ingredients for vegetable skewers and marinated chicken and fire up the grill back at the villa for a barbecue at sundown. 

When you aren't at the beach, spend days at home in and around the pool – occupy a sun lounger with a book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. Stay out after dark for a bit of stargazing before watching a family movie on the plush sofa.

Nicosia, an hour away, caters to shopaholics and lovers of souvlaki, among other scrumptious delights. Louma Beach and Lombardi Beach are ideal for long coastal hikes. With so much to do, you'll be happy to escape to your starry roof-deck for a bottle of wine before calling it a day.

Naturally, most of your time here will be spent exploring, especially as buzzing Ayia Napa is a fifteen-minute drive. During downtime, however, there's still quite a bit to enjoy at home. In the backyard, a private pool and sunny terrace are perfect for relaxing and dining alfresco. Head indoors, and you'll find an all-in-one living area filled with light, as well as four comfortable bedrooms upstairs. We think it's a great choice for families looking for a fuss-free stay near the Cyprus coast.

The pool area is bound to go down well with the kids, while the alfresco dining space is the perfect spot for a family meal when you don't feel like heading out. In terms of location, you've got a number of beaches within walking distance and the bars, restaurants and shops of buzzy Protaras a short drive away.

Sunrise Beach is a ten-minute walk from this home, putting you in a prime spot for exploring Protaras. Restaurants, bars, and shops are also nearby – although we still suggest a car if you plan to adventure further afield. A private swimming pool awaits back at the villa, as do a roof terrace and an alfresco dining area. Sleek and modern, the design won't suit guests looking for a lot of character. That said, we're big fans of the breezy living space, which effortlessly embraces indoor-outdoor living.

Head to Paralimni, a town three kilometres away, for more sandy beaches, delicious food and a beautiful fishing harbour. If you love day trips, drive to National Forest Park Kavo Gkreko. The under-the-radar biking and hiking trails take you across clear waters, pine forests and spectacular ruins.

Immerse yourself in the slow lifestyle in Pernera. Here, you'll have sandy beaches, traditional tavernas, and local shops on your doorstep, making it a great pick for chilled-out groups. While the open-plan interior is inviting, we think this home's highlight is its outdoor living space. You'll enjoy countryside views, a plunge pool, a built-in barbecue, plus tables for alfresco eats and balconies for sunset-watching. The lack of air conditioning in the kitchen isn't ideal, but there are international restaurants at hand.

This Cypriot villa is situated close to the resort town of Pernera, but not so central that you'll be bothered by the noise. You'll find restaurants and bars an easy walk away, so you can holiday without a car if you so wish. The two double bedrooms enjoy their own balconies with views, but the upstairs bedrooms do mean this home won't be suitable for those that struggle with stairs. The swimming pool is the jewel of this home – it can be heated for an additional cost, and has plenty of seating for tanning or alfresco dining.

Location-wise, the villa is just a five-minute walk from the nearest sandy beach and is ideal for exploring the beautiful resort of Protaras.
