Experience a traditional German seaside resort at this modern apartment just outside Binz. Just a short walk from the beach, you're in the perfect place to soak up the sea air. Your home exudes contemporary style and has everything you need for a stay in this picturesque resort, including a dishwasher, microwave, and coffee machine. However, we think the best part about this apartment is the building's communal facilities – make sure to take advantage of the indoor and outdoor pool, sauna and fitness centre. Start the day with a coffee on your balcony, then drive into Binz for a walk along the pier or pack a bag for a day on the sand. Hire a bike to discover the local trails across Rügen island, visiting the nearby Granitz Hunting Castle, an extraordinary 19th-century castle in the woods. End the day on the comfy sofa in front of the TV.

With clean modern lines, hardwood floors and stylish furniture, this seaside escape has a very Scandinavian feel to it – down to the pristine private sauna. With large windows and green views, the bedrooms are bright and uplifting. The private balcony is a lovely spot for morning coffees or evening drinks, while the building’s large pool – half indoor, half outdoor – is ideal for laps and splashing around regardless of the weather. We love the mountain mural in the living room – though make no mistake the beach is only a quick ten-minute walk away. The old villas of Binz and local monuments are a quick ten-minute drive away, and you can find everything from golfing to disco in this lovely bathing resort.

While the contemporary interiors – with a fully equipped kitchen and cosy living area with Scandinavian wood burner – are impressive, it's the rooftop balcony that's the biggest draw here. From here, you'll have uninterrupted views of the sea and beaches of Rügen island and it's the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or an alfresco dinner each day. If you can leave the views, your building also has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sauna and a fitness centre, so you'll be spoilt for choice for places to relax. You might spend your days on the sand, or take the drive into the main resort of Binz to explore the boutiques and restaurants and take a walk on the pier. There's plenty to explore in the local area, too, from Granitz Hunting Castle to Jasmund National Park. At the end of the day, unwind in the private sauna attached to the master bedroom while admiring the sunset from the window.

With access to a private beach, you can while away the sunny hours taking refreshing dips in the pristine lake, take a boat tour to soak up the stunning scenery or enjoy one of the many hikes through Müritz National Park’s forests, twenty minutes away by car. After a day of exploring, come back home for a swim in the shared pool or treat yourself to a luxurious session in the building’s spa and sauna. Then kick back on your living room’s plump blue sofa to watch the sunset over the lake, with evening drinks on the balcony to end the day on a memorable high.

Though you'll appreciate the contemporary furnishings and amenities in this one-bed apartment, it's the location that sets this home apart. Overlooking a small bay of Lake Müritz, this is the place for a serene lakeside getaway. From your balcony, enjoy panoramic views of the lake and the terracotta rooftops of the old town of Waren, making this the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee. You couldn't get much closer to the lake – it's just a few steps down to the shores and the small private beach. During the day, wander into Waren to explore the cobbled streets with traditional cafes and restaurants. However, there's also plenty to enjoy at the resort, including a sauna, spa, and fitness centre. Enjoy a relaxed meal at your resort's restaurants, or cook up a feast in your apartment, dining out on the balcony to catch the sunset. With an oven, hotplates, and a dishwasher, you'll find everything you need for your stay.

The Little Ocean

You’ll be staying in the heart of Germany’s lake district when you stay in this modern apartment just outside of Waren. The apartment has a private balcony from which you can view the surrounding countryside, while just a short walk away you’ll find the picturesque marina. This home is ideally placed for spending days on the lake – you’re less than 100m from the nearest beach, and there are plenty of bike trails around to keep you busy. Biking or hiking is a great way to explore this beautiful region of Germany – Lake Muritz might be the largest lake in the region, but there are 129 other lakes in the area, not to mention forests, and plenty of other flora and fauna. Decorated in a simple, contemporary style with bright pops of colour and unfussy furnishings, this apartment will provide the perfect welcome home after a day of exploration or sunbathing by the lake. You’ll also be able to take advantage of all the amenities on offer at the resort, including a sauna and spa area.

The Simple Life

Unwind on the shores of the serene Lake Müritz when you stay at this contemporary apartment. This resort couldn't be closer to the lake's edge and it's just a short walk to the shore and private beach. Minimal yet warm and full of light, the double-height interior features floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the peaceful views, and you can enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony which overlooks the greenery around the resort. You're bound to sleep soundly each night tucked up on the mezzanine level where large windows look out over the surroundings. There's plenty of space to whip up meals in the kitchen, but if you fancy trying some local fare it's just a quick walk into the town of Waren. Wander along the charming cobbled streets and settle down at a lakeside restaurant for a meal and a cold pint of German beer. You’ll also have access to explore the facilities at the resort - with a fitness centre, sauna, spa and swimming pool to choose from, you'll be spoilt for choice for ways to rest and unwind during your stay.

With a minimalist approach to the interior, this home in Marielyst feels like a clean slate to paint your holiday your way. Simply enjoy the comforts of the sofa as you hunker down with a book and freshly-brewed coffee, or spend lazy afternoons alternating between the indoor pool and hot tub. Challenge the rest of the group to table football or pool, and when you inevitably have to find your zen after, you might make your way to the private sauna. Outside of the home, you’ll be able to reconnect with nature as you take in natural foliage and green grass from your lookout on the sunlounger. Coincidentally, this home also accommodates alfresco dining, so crack open the wine and whip up a few open-faced sandwiches in the beautiful kitchen and enjoy being together in the fresh Danish air. 

If you’re not keen on dining in – or out in case you do happen to make use of the outdoor table – you might want to sample the many good restaurants and cafes around after you've done a bit of shopping. If you want to explore further than that even, wander to the beach or make the hour trip to the safari park, but if it were us, we’d definitely make the twenty-minute drive to Middelaldercentret to watch knight tournaments and listen to buskers from the 15th century.
