Nordhaven's waterfront restaurants and shopping streets are a short walk, while the open green space of Fælledparken is 300m from this home – ideal for letting the kids run wild. Plus, the nearby Metro takes you into the city centre with ease. The home features a dining table that doubles up as a laptop desk, as well as a sofa bed for two people – though we think this might be a bit of a squeeze. Also keep in mind that the kitchenette is very small, which may not be well-suited for longer stays.

Tucked back from the hustle and bustle of the ever-popular harbourside hotspot of Nyhavn, this spectacular apartment ranks among our favourites in the city. 

A large open-plan living area is the focal point of any stay here, with a sleek handleless kitchen, a typically stylish mid-century dining table and chairs, plus a comfortable seating area. It's lined with windows along one side, letting in plenty of natural light during the day. When night falls, elegant pendant lights illuminate the space.

Stride out into the picturesque pocket of the city. This 17th-century canal, lined with colourful houses and stunning sailboats, continuously tops lists of Copenhagen's must-see sights, and it's easy to see why. But, while it may attract the tourists, there's no doubt that the locals love it just as much, and you'd be hard-pushed to find a better spot in the city to enjoy a cold beer on a warm summer's afternoon.

To the east, a bridge connects you to the cafes and canals of Christianshavn and the hippie haven of Christiania, where quirky self-built homes line the lake. Our favourite spot is the private balcony with its views of Christiansborg’s spire. Sit here with your morning coffee while soaking up the fresh air or gather at the elegant dining table with the French doors open to enjoy the warmth and cosiness of your home. With plenty of curios decking the shelves, original artwork, a record player to serenade your evenings and a beautiful antique bureau on which to catch up on work, you’re all set for a relaxing time here, whether for business or pleasure. Factor in the luxurious Hästens bed for a dreamy night’s sleep and you may never leave your comfortable home. Tivoli Gardens, a thirteen-minute walk away, has 19th-century depictions of the Orient and provides a magnificent spectacle with thousands of colourful lights in the evening for you to enjoy. There is no city in the world that loves cycling more than Copenhagen, so rent a bike and go riding, heading to Nyhavn, a place you won't forget, with its brightly coloured gabled townhomes, salty boats, and frothy beer to savour while taking in the view. For some high culture, spend the evening at a jazz club or the Royal Danish Theater.

While we can't fault the light-filled, Scandi interiors of the living area and bedrooms, the kitchen and bathroom set-up might be too compact for some. It's also worth noting that at full occupancy, the last two guests will be sharing a sofa bed in the lounge. But we're willing to let that slide for a home with such a spot-on location.

Do Copenhagen right and stay at this swoon-worthy Scandi apartment in the city centre. With light-filled rooms, an unbeatable location and the rare luxury of a private terrace, it doesn't get better than this modern home. 

The open-plan living area is the ideal hangout spot for your holiday downtown. Finished with bright furnishings and a touch of boho charm, the spacious room is lit up with not one, not two, but six windows. After preparing meals in the snazzy kitchen, you have a choice of places to dine – at the breakfast bar, the eight-person dining table, or outside in the sun (that's our pick, weather permitting). 

When it's time to explore the city, you won't have to travel far to take in Copenhagen's best sites. The cobbled Kongens Nytorv square is barely a five-minute walk away, and from here Nyhavn's colourful waterfront is another short hop. Enjoy lunch with a waterfront view, then meander through the characterful streets towards Christianshavn, a unique network of small islands. This is the place to be if you're a fan of street art and intimate music venues.

If you’re searching for classic Scandinavian design in a fantastic location, this apartment delivers. Located on the third floor of a historic building without a lift, there is plenty of space for a group of nine to relax after a day of exploring. It’s worth noting there is only one bathroom here, but it's ideal for remote workers with dedicated desk space and families will appreciate the children’s amenities available for an additional fee. From here, it’s just a short stroll to the bars and restaurants of Nyhavn, while shops and historic sights are also within walking distance. 


Cityscape Sanctuary

Situated just one street from The Lakes, this penthouse apartment is perfectly positioned for waterfront strolls, coffees and drinks. This modern Scandi-style apartment is ideal for groups wanting to maximise their time both out and in, with a central location and a contemporary sociable space. If you’re visiting as a group of eight, two guests will sleep on the living area sofa bed, so you might need to call it early some nights. But then again, with plenty of bars and concert venues nearby, we’re sure you'll spend your evenings out experiencing the Copenhagen culture.

Wake up and prepare a coffee and Danish pastry in the sleek high-spec kitchen, then glide outside for a leisurely breakfast in the sun. After a morning of lounging in the homely living space, head downstairs and step straight into the city centre.

The widely photographed Nyhavn harbour, flanked by colourful buildings, is just a five-minute walk away. Sleek and stylish, this apartment has everything you might need for a comfortable stay in Copenhagen. There's plenty of room for your group to spread out and relax – as long as two guests don't mind sleeping on a sofa bed in the living area. You'll also have access to a small balcony, which doesn't offer the most inspiring views, although we still think it's a pleasant space to unwind. Trendy Nørrebro is a short walk away, with plenty of shopping, parks and dining options nearby. The home is a short Metro ride from the city centre, but if you’re in search of a chic and well-equipped home, this is a great choice. 

Nordic Comfort

A whirlwind of green hues, this snug home brings an instant smile to our faces. It's warm and comfortable, with a large dining table perfect for sharing family meals and a cosy sitting area where you can kick back and relax with a glass of wine and Netflix. A small collection of books and board games only add to the homey feel, as do the large windows which flood the lounge with natural light. One of the bedrooms is rather tiny and the bathroom isn't the biggest we've seen, but the brilliant location more than makes up for it. We love this area's historic charm and quiet streets, yet buzzing restaurants, cafes and shops are all a short stroll away. You're also within walking distance to many of Copenhagen's most beloved sights – Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn, The Little Mermaid, Frederik's Church, you name it, chances are you can get to it easily. Best of all? The Danish queen lives just down the road, so if it's good enough for royalty, it's good enough for us.

Sage Advice

Just a five-minute walk from this apartment will take you to the City Hall Square and the central station. It's the same walking distance to Tivoli Gardens, a magical theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster, gardens and restaurants. As with the rides at Tivoli, this apartment has some ups and downs – let's start with the good points. There's a shared garden perfect for beers in the summer, and the apartment itself is spacious. To enter the second bedroom, though, you will need to go through the third bedroom. This room doesn't have any windows but borrows light via French doors into the adjacent room, so privacy is also an issue – it’s probably fine for the kids, we would say.

Size and style come in equal measure at this Copenhagen apartment. It's perched along the famous shopping mile, and most of the must-see sights are just a stroll away. A great option for a multi-generational family stay, each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, and the living spaces are palatial by inner-city standards. It's worth noting there's only one bathroom here, and four guests will be sharing the last bedroom – fine for family sharing, but it won't suit everyone. Expect street noise from time to time, too – but that's all part and parcel of central Copenhagen living.

You couldn’t ask for a more central spot for this Indre By apartment, set just steps from the iconic Magasin du Nord department store and a short stroll from Tivoli Gardens. Need to be someplace fast? The Metro is only minutes away, making exploring every corner of Copenhagen easy. Inside, the Scandi interiors of this light-filled home speak for themselves. That said, there are a few compromises to be made here. The main bedroom sleeps four, with both a double bed and a sofa bed, while a living room sofa bed sleeps another two. While this won’t suit everyone, it could work out great for a small family or close-knit group.

There’s no place like home… Until you’ve stayed in Master of Light that is. Casual luxury at its finest, it’s Copenhagen at its best. The location is extraordinary – you’re right besides Nyhavn, the city’s most famous postcard motif. And we can’t get over the design. Alexander clearly has a passion for Danish design, with works by Bang & Olufsen and Hans J. Wegner adorning every corner. There’s also a fantastic rooftop terrace with a nine-person hot tub, sun beds and a lounge arrangement, plus fantastic views of Copenhagen's historic buildings.

She’s an opera singer and works just down the road in the Royal Opera House, which only makes this home even more special.

This penthouse apartment is located right on Strøget, the main pedestrian street in Copenhagen, making it ideal for visitors who want to explore the city on foot. Climb up to the top of the building and once you arrive, and you'll find a wonderfully light and welcoming space that's full of Scandi-style and designer furniture. The lovely kitchen and living space are great for socialising over some smørrebrødands and a glass of wine, and the gorgeous wooden floors and high windows add an extra level of charm. However, our favourite part of this home is the romantic little nook in the bay window where you can look out over the city's spires and rooftops. Back on ground level, you can stroll to Tivoli Gardens, the famous 19th Century amusement park, in less than ten minutes, while the iconic Nyhavn waterfront is a fifteen-minute walk away.

Locations really don’t get much better than this. It's rare to find a property this close by to the picture-perfect Nyhavn district, with its brightly coloured gabled townhouses. Find a sunny spot outside at a quayside café or hop on a boat for one of the many canal tours that start here. As the evening draws in, take a pre-dinner stroll along the waterfront, then duck into one of the many restaurants and bars that line the canal.  You could call in on the Queen too, she lives just around the corner. And when it’s finally time to retreat inside, you’ll find a contemporary place that invites you to be social. The communal area is the heart of the home, offering plenty of space for your tribe to hang out, cook, and eat. The industrial-style windows flood natural light through the apartment by day, while the plush velvet curtains allow privacy at night when it’s time for some shut-eye.

Ideally located and only two minutes from Amalienborg Palace, this stylish and immaculate home with plenty of space. With four bedrooms, two living spaces and an open-plan kitchen/dining area, large groups will be very comfortable here. The glass-walled bedrooms might leave you feeling a little exposed, but they are a cool design feature that adds a unique feel. As well as being close to the Queen's winter residence, you're also only a five-minute walk from the iconic canalside district of Nyhavn. It's the perfect place to while away a long summer's evening. Either with a cold one on the quayside like the locals or at one of the many restaurants overlooking the old tall ships.

Located on Strøget, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to local restaurants, cafes and shops. It also provides easy access to iconic sights and there are great public transport links. It’s worth noting, you may hear some street noise during your stay but this is to be expected in this central location. Plus, you’ll find all the essentials you could need to settle in and unwind. There are also flexible sleeping arrangements with two sofa beds – making this a sweet option for families.

The apartment is equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay in Copenhagen and even comes with free access to a local gym. In terms of location, you couldn’t ask for more – this home is just a stone’s throw from Kongens Have. Exploring the rest of the city is a breeze thanks to excellent transport links – Kongens Nytorv metro station is only an eight-minute walk away. 

Copenhagen Calm

Situated in the heart of Copenhagen, this apartment provides a perfectly practical space for groups visiting the city. Tivoli Gardens is less than a ten-minute walk away, while nearby Ørstedsparken is a great spot for escaping the city buzz. The master bedroom can be set up with twin single beds upon request and the double sofa bed adds flexibility. Just keep in mind that the second bedroom is partly open to the living area, so it lacks some privacy. Otherwise, the two large bathrooms will help to speed mornings along, so you can head out and spend more time exploring all that the Danish capital has to offer.

The royal palace, Nyhavn, and Strøget are all five minutes away – you couldn’t ask for a more central location. The apartment has been designed to be a creative nest and a comfortable home-from-home. At full occupancy, three guests will sleep in the living space – it’s not the most private set-up for a long-term stay. 

Copenhagen Nest

As expected for an 18th-century Copenhagen home, the layout of this large and oh-so-stylish studio is a little kooky. One bedroom with a handy desk nook is tucked into the eaves on a mezzanine, so it's not the most private of spaces. The living area, which houses a sofa bed for two guests, forms part of the main bedroom. And while the balcony is a bonus, it's pocket-sized. But you can't quibble with the location. Set slap bang in the middle of Indre By, you're within walking distance of all the city's must-sees. Get off to a flying start at the shopping mecca of Strøget – it's right outside your door. Just note that this is a central, noisy area – light sleepers may want to pack earplugs.

A flat roomy enough for ten people right in the city centre is pretty much unheard of, so imagine our surprise when we found this gem. With five stylish bedrooms and an amply-sized living area meant for socialising, there's enough space here for a big group to spread out and get comfortable. The kitchen isn't massive – we'd only recommend it for cooking breakfast and other light meals – but we liked the vanity area outside the bathrooms, where you can prep hair and makeup without hogging the loo. There are other touches, too – USB plugs by all the beds, an Apple TV in the living space for at-home movie nights and no single-use plastic. This building has the highest eco-certification (A15) and it's run on renewable energy, so it's as good for the environment as it is stylish. Best of all is the location – Strøget is just around the corner, with restaurants, shops, cafes and bars all right on your doorstep. You're only two minutes away from Kongens Have and Rosenborg Castle as well, perfect for strolls in the sun.
