If you’re looking for an authentic coastal town, this home’s location is bound to impress. Situated in Jávea, you’ll be just five kilometres from sandy beaches and the Medieval streets of the old town. Situated high up in the hills, you’ll have plenty of peace, privacy and incredible views over the mountains and valley, but bear in mind that a car is necessary to reach the villa. If you’d rather not venture out, three levels offer plenty of space to relax, plus a garden containing a private pool and Jacuzzi for those alfresco evenings.

Boasting gorgeous views, a private pool, and space for alfresco dining, this villa guarantees a stylish stay. It's not suitable for young children due to the lack of fencing in the some of the outdoor areas and the pool, but there are ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms, and a double sofa bed for some extra flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. We highly recommend having a car here, but it's not far to drive into the centre of Jávea or the nearby golf course. Further away, you'll find spectacular days out in the bustling city of Alicante and its beautiful beaches.

If you're looking for a quintessentially Spanish coastal retreat with all of the sangria and sunshine that comes with it, look no further than this gorgeous two-storey villa. Located in La Colina, you're a couple of kilometres from the vast sandy beach and crystalline waters of Platja de l'Arenal, but that's if you can peel yourself away from this achingly beautiful home.

There's more than a smidge of Balinese influence at this beautiful home on the Costa Blanca, from the straw-roofed Bali house to the sand-coloured shutters that double up as a headboard in the master suite. Whether you're a family or a group of friends, the space is filled with social areas. Dinner is served in the tiled dining room, with its floating linen curtains and white ceiling beams – or make it alfresco on the traditional Spanish patio, next to the grand stone arches. With 325 days of sun each year, this corner of the Spanish coast is an ideal year-round destination, and the villa's design reflects that fact. Outside, an immaculate garden contains an inviting pool surrounded by sun loungers and several outdoor seating areas that can be cordoned off from the elements should it get a little chilly (a rarity in these parts).

Elsewhere, a spacious living and dining area acts as the home's social hub, with comfy leather sofas and a wooden dining table with plenty of space for six. A well-equipped kitchen sits separately, great news for anyone who likes to be left to their own devices when preparing dinner. Finally, three cosy bedrooms ensure a restful night's sleep, with the main bedroom offering the added advantage of a private balcony with far-reaching mountain views to wake up to each morning.

Sharp lines and clean spaces characterise this modern home, from the cavernous living room with its all-cream furniture and UFO-shaped skylights to the bright bedrooms. Artwork, in stark contrast, is bold with huge colourful prints hung in each room. We won't be surprised if you miss all those details, however, as it's the views that will have you enraptured. Looking out over the Mediterranean ocean, the home has floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted panoramas – from the master bed when you wake up to your mid-afternoon soak in the standalone bathtub. Head out for a closer inspection, with a blue infinity pool to make you feel like you're floating, while the upstairs balcony is unbeatable for watching the sunset.

Just a three minute walk to the nearest sandy beach of Arenal, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing somewhere for dinner, a morning coffee, or a glass of sangria as you watch the world go by. There is also a rocky beach just a stone's throw from the apartment, where you can enjoy excellent snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing. The pretty port and historic old town of Javea is just three kilometres away, and you'll find two prestigious golf courses within around a twenty minute radius.

Whether you've spent that day playing a few holes, soaking up the southern Spanish sunshine on your favourite local beach, or exploring the beguiling backstreets of Javea – unmistakably Spanish with their whitewashed houses adorned with bright swathes of bougainvillea – you can always return to the comfort and calm of this home away from home. Cook up something tasty in the kitchen (we especially love preparing a steam pan of Arroz a la Banda, Alicante’s take on typical paella), before heading out onto the balcony that overlooks the communal swimming pool, perhaps breaking out the board games to while away the evening as dusk turns into a star-speckled night.

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

A car is a must here, as this home is located in the hills above the town. Still, it's just a short drive to Jávea's beaches, restaurants, and buzzing centre.

Located in a popular destination in the eastern part of Spain, this home is the perfect base for a beach holiday. The sand and sea are a five-minute drive away, or if you want to make sure you hit your 10,000 steps a day, it’s a half hour walk. In classic resort town style, you’ll find a disco, local eateries, and places to practice your salsa moves nearby. If you want to hole up and not leave the apartment, you'll find plenty to keep you entertained. From the flat-screen TV to the large garden and your very own private pool, there is every chance you'll stay put. After practicing your strokes in the pool, fire-up the barbecue for lunch on the shaded terrace. Feeling tired? The locals strongly believe in a siesta, and we can't agree with the concept more. This villa in southern Spain is set up for big group get-togethers or family gatherings. It’s packed with ways to stay entertained, both indoors and outdoors. Let’s start with the outdoors. A Roman-style swimming pool invites you for a dip to cool off from the heat, and a porticoed veranda runs the length of the villa, providing shaded lounges and outdoor dining for the group. When the magenta bougainvillaea is in bloom, the facade of this villa is simply stunning. You’ve got another terrace up on the first floor, filled with boho furnishings facing the sea view. To top it all off, a rooftop terrace catches the sun during the day.

Stepping inside, the fun continues with a dedicated cinema room – perfect for families – and a wine cellar to store the Riojas. The cosy main living room embraces the feel of an old Spanish farmhouse, with comfy sofas sitting beneath dark wood beams and an old brick fireplace in the corner. This opens up to the dining room, and double doors lead straight onto the terrace too. For those that need to work remotely, there’s an office room with a desk where arched windows look out over the sea. Speaking of which, bedrooms across the villa come in all shapes and sizes, and some have a spectacular sea view from big windows.

Location-wise, there are a handful of local restaurants within easy walking distance. The coast here is dotted with secluded bays and dramatic coves, which can be explored by car or perhaps even by boat.

This villa caught our eye for its incredible sea views – and with five terraces and three balconies, there are plenty of spots to enjoy them from. You’ve also got a private pool and the use of a fitness centre and sauna to make your stay even more enjoyable. Inside, the contemporary living spaces offer ocean vistas and all of the bedrooms are ensuite for added privacy. The historic town of Javea, with its many shops, restaurants and tapas bars, is a 10km drive away and if you fancy eating in, your host can help arrange a cooking service so you won’t have to lift a finger.

There are some steep stairs to climb inside, though – it may not suit guests with reduced mobility.
