The building is impressive enough in itself, and the fact that every room has a sea view is not to be sniffed at. While the design of the place is simple, even bordering on sparse, the way that the windows frame that view mitigates what could otherwise be seen as a slight lack of inspiration. Getting into the city is easy enough on the metro, but it’s about an hour on foot to Plaça de Catalunya.

One look at that private terrace with sweeping views over Barcelona, and it's easy to see why this home caught our eye. Location-wise, you're right in the heart of vibrant Glòries. Don't miss the nearby mall with its long-standing flea market and upscale shops and eateries. Or hop over into neighbouring L'Eixample to hit the must-see sights. If we were being picky, though the kitchen is well-equipped, it could do with an interior refresh. It's also worth noting the second bedroom is pocket-sized with limited floor space. But we'll let that slide for a home with such impressive outdoor space. 

Viewpoint Terrace

This modern, crowd-pleasing home is a picture of industrial chic nestled in-between the beach and Barcelona's historic Old Town. Stepping in to look around at the decor, you'll notice low-hanging lampshades, vibrant chairs and a quirky pallet coffee table that we really loved. Natural light pours into the apartment through crittall windows, while super high beamed ceilings and a clever layout make for a light and airy spot to unwind with friends or family after an afternoon spent sightseeing. Rustle up a plate of paella in the sleek metro-tiled kitchen – complete with a sociable breakfast bar to come together for a glass of Barolo. Better still, enjoy alfresco dining out on your private terrace with painted brick walls and garden furniture. As far as homes in La Dreta de l'Eixample go, Caletre is a solid representation of the neighbourhood's architecture. Adorned with Modernist masterpieces, this part of Barcelona boasts great architecture on every corner and even the insides of an unassuming building like this one show some masterful craft. True, the street you'll be staying on is a little bit noisy, but we think that easy access to the cultural heart of town more than makes up for it.

It’s a great part of the city for enjoying alfresco drinks, meandering along tree-lined streets, and shopping in stylish boutiques. Styled to perfection by local interior designers, there's an Indonesian-Catalan fusion going on here – and we love it. Ideal for longer stays, there's a fully kitted-out kitchen, two stylish bedrooms and bathrooms, and plenty of space to relax in. A traditional balcony runs the length of the living space and both bedrooms boast Juliet balconies so there's no shortage of natural light and fresh air if you want it.

But by far our favourite thing about this home is its access to the building's shared rooftop terrace – which just happens to include a pool. Grab a sun lounger and read your book, or just take a quick dip to keep cool. Surrounded by excellent bars and restaurants, there's plenty to keep you occupied within easy walking distance, and the local architecture is a treat for the design-obsessed.

Make breakfast for the family feel extra special with pan con tomate - you can pick up some of the city’s finest bread from Fermento Casa De Panaderos, just six minutes away. The small narrow streets - called passatges in Catalan - will lead you to the city’s vibrant Parc Güell where you’ll discover Gaudí’s architectural delights. Consider the matinee at the Catalan Modernist-style concert hall, Palau de la Música Catalana, then refuel with today’s special and an authentic aperitivo at the bustling El Xampanyet. Hop on the metro home- your apartment is nine minutes from there - where your cosy, warm-lit bedroom awaits.

This elegant apartment is in the centre of Barcelona, 100 metres from Las Ramblas and a short walk from Plaza de Catalunya. Bars, restaurants and shops are all on your doorstep. Apart from a full kitchen and delightful dining room inside, there’s a private terrace for evening cocktails outside. We particularly loved the ornate ceiling mouldings in the living space. When you arrive, throw open the curtains and step out onto your Juliet balcony, feeling the warmth of Barcelona’s glorious sunshine as the breeze ripples through the quiet leafy streets below. It’s hard to believe this home is a ten-minute walk from the buzzing Plaza Catalunya, often regarded as Barcelona’s most central point. From here, you’ll find the Passeig de Gracia, with its emblematic Modernist buildings, high-end boutiques and upscale eateries. Better yet, the trendy El Born neighbourhood, famous for its artsy crowd and boho feel is only a fifteen-minute walk away.
