You're in for a treat with a stay at this contemporary apartment perched along a handsome leafy avenue of the well-heeled Eixample district. Home to Gaudí's architectural gems, haute couture shops, and Michelin star restaurants, they call this neck of the woods Quadrat d'Or (Golden Square) for a good reason.

Back at home, the pristine, uncluttered interiors will appeal to all you minimalists out there. Flooded with natural daylight thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, it feels like a breath of fresh air to return to after a day soaking up all that Gaudi extravagance in the streets below.

Drop your bags in the spacious hallway, grab a glass of something crisp (the complimentary chilled wine will help with that), then fling the balcony doors open wide to watch the grand avenue of Gran Via bustle below. One of Barcelona's longest boulevards crossing right through the city, it's an impressive sight to behold. And thanks to its elevated position on the fifth floor, the spacious bedrooms feel surprisingly quiet at night with the windows closed and the black-out blinds drawn.

Pour a glass of Rioja and flop down on the comfy sofa, or head outside onto the balcony to enjoy your tipple in the fresh air. If you need to do some work then you'll find a desk space in one of the bedrooms, which is ideal for study sessions or remote meetings. Or, head to the kitchen to practice your Spanish-style cooking in the kitchen and share your culinary creations with your guests. 

Your first sightseeing stop will definitely be the epic Sagrada Familia, but there is plenty more to do after you've ticked off Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece. The streets of Eixample are packed with gorgeous art nouveau buildings housing boutiques and restaurants where you can blend in with the area's stylish residents. Sink back into the beautiful bathtub, or enjoy the leafy view from any one of the three beautiful little balconies.

Other aspects are a little more contemporary – you only have to look at the minimalist white kitchen to see what we mean.

Even though it sits among one of Barcelona's most bustling districts, there's something innately relaxing about the space, whether you're listening to a vinyl record with a breeze blowing in over the Juliet balcony or enjoying a meal cooked with locally bought ingredients on the round dining table.

And when it comes to sightseeing, you don't have far to venture from your front door. The mighty Sagrada Familia is less than a quarter of an hour's walk, as is Parc de la Ciutadella in the opposite direction. You're especially well served by cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets, too.

When you arrive, throw open the curtains and step out onto your Juliet balcony, feeling the warmth of Barcelona’s glorious sunshine as the breeze ripples through the quiet leafy streets below. It’s hard to believe this home is a ten-minute walk from the buzzing Plaza Catalunya, often regarded as Barcelona’s most central point. From here, you’ll find the Passeig de Gracia, with its emblematic Modernist buildings, high-end boutiques and upscale eateries. Better yet, the trendy El Born neighbourhood, famous for its artsy crowd and boho feel is only a fifteen-minute walk away.

Nestled in the Eixample neighbourhood, this home is an ideal base for those keen to drop off their cases and explore the city with ease. Perfect for couples or small families, you’ll find everything needed for a comfortable stay here – and nearby metro stations make hopping across the city a breeze. If you don’t feel like cooking you’ll find eateries aplenty on your doorstep, and when you crave a spot of greenery, a visit to Ciutadella Park is a must for a fresh-air stroll. 

Barcelona Soul

You’ll find this smart bolthole placed around the corner from two of Eixample’s hotspots – Arc de Triomf and the vast green spaces of Ciutadella's Park. While we love the home's overall design, the apartment lacks natural daylight in places. Although the cosy, light-filled atrium room leading off the lounge is a nice touch for morning coffees and evening drinks. If six guests share, two of you will have to make do with the sofa bed in the lounge. Not ideal for some, but it could work out fine for children sharing or a shorter stay.

In the bustling area of Dreta de l'Eixample, surrounded by kerbside cafés and trendy boutiques, you’re never short of local sights and exquisite architecture. With two of Gaudí’s masterpieces – Casa Milà and Casa Batlló – within twenty minutes on foot, this apartment is certainly in the middle of it all. To match the elegant area, the interiors are superbly classy. Marble flooring features throughout, as well as an upright piano, corniced ceilings, and French windows letting Catalan sun stream into the lounge. While these traditional aspects bring character, you’ve also got modern touches such as ghost-style dining chairs and a sleek, white kitchen. But our favourite feature has to be the terrace. Get comfortable on the wicker armchairs as you wait for the barbecue to warm up. Alfresco dining is most definitely on the menu, as well as a bottle of tempranillo while you watch the sunset. From up here, you can look at perfectly-kept neighbouring gardens, as well as panoramic views of other beautiful buildings. If you ever feel the need to head back to street level, take a four-minute walk to Urquinaona metro and explore the entire city.

Like many of our guests, we have a soft spot for high ceilings – and this spot in the central Eixample district of Barcelona offers just that. Huge french doors invite free-flowing natural daylight through the main living and bedroom spaces in abundance. Meanwhile, an open plan layout creates a sociable setting to kick back between discovering vibrant Barcelona's cultural sights, artistic architecture, and culinary delights. 

Like the city, it resides in, this home is bursting with character. While a coherent design aesthetic persists throughout, minimalist features like the curtains and patterned pillows break the monotony with a pop of colour – a contemporary and, above all, comfortable base from which to soak up the city. If you're staying in Barcelona, then you'll probably want to see some of its architecture – and you're in luck because House of Halls has several well-preserved architectural details. From the closed-up balcony study to the balcony with space for a full set of furniture, this home embodies a true Catalan lifestyle in the opulent neighbourhood of Eixample. Staying in this part of town, you'll have easy access to lots of attractions, including Sagrada Familia and Arco de Triunfo.

Set in vibrant El Fort Pienc, fringing the neighbourhoods of El Born, Eixample, and Sagrada, you’ve got all of the city’s hotspots at your feet from this smart apartment. It’s worth noting that the second bedroom feels snug compared to that whopper of a king-sized main room. Though the separate shower rooms for each bedroom are a bonus if you need to speed mornings along. While the floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony doors are impressive, there’s no outside space to sit out here. But with Barcelona’s leafy Parc de la Ciutadella just a stroll away, we don’t think you’ll mind.

Situated close to the lovely Ciutadella Park and the Arc de Triomf, this apartment has a small balcony and minimal furniture for maximum space. We think it's a great choice for families – your host may be able to provide a cot and high chair if you're travelling with little ones, and well-behaved pets are welcome. The decor is a charming blend of original features from when the home was first built in 1910, along with more modern elements to make your stay comfortable and easy.

La Casa Joana

Just eight minutes from the Plaça de Catalunya on foot, this renovated home boasts a central location in the heart of Barcelona. You'll find it in the Eixample, tucked away in an elegant alleyway and offering a quiet refuge from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you're surrounded by a delightful array of boutiques and eateries and within walking distance of the main sights. Go shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, picnic in Ciutadella Park or marvel at the Sagrada Familia – all less than a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep. 

Inside, spacious rooms flaunt high ceilings, large windows and stylish decor, while contemporary amenities promise a want-for-nothing stay. We especially love the balcony. Offering leafy views, this is the perfect place to sunbathe. Home chefs will appreciate the fully-equipped kitchen, where a breakfast bar beckons for mornings roosted here, sipping quick coffees before slipping out for breakfast – we recommend the croissants from the little cafe downstairs.

And, the location in Eixample puts you in a fantastic spot for sightseeing. The area has the largest concentration of Art Nouveau buildings in Europe, and you'll love wandering through the streets and admiring the beautiful architecture. Plaça de Catalunya is less than ten minutes away, while Gaudi's stunning modernist works, Casa Batlló and Casa Mila are both reachable on foot in under twenty minutes.

The Eixample district is packed with boutique shopping, fine-dining restaurants, and stylish bars. Of course, as the area is also famous for Gaudí masterpieces such as Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, we think it might be pretty handy to live less than a twenty-minute walk from both? In this sumptuous apartment, you’ll be able to stroll home from architectural marvels with ease. Speaking of which, we love the traditional aspects of the home – high ceilings and French windows with wrought-ironwork are a must for flats in this area. Elegant furniture accentuates the look, like wooden antiques and the flowing curtains which beautifully frame the Catalan sunlight. Fresh flowers bring an organic feel to the home, contrasting the modernity of the glass-topped tables where they’re placed. And from large, comfortable bedrooms, you can peer over the balconette to admire street views and pick out a café for lunch as you plan the day ahead. With the Urquinaona metro stop just a four-minute walk, this apartment is perfectly situated for local attractions, as well as visiting sights further afield.

The home itself takes its style seriously, too. We love the old Barcelona tiles that line the floor of the living room and bedrooms. The rich red rose wallpaper and the pink accent wall complement them quite beautifully. The breakfast table has brilliant views over the city, while the kitchen is sleek and perfect for whipping up snacks. Recline on the massive grey sectional in style in the living room, or luxuriate in the tub. This home is an amalgamation of texture and material, making it a truly pleasing space to spend time in. However, when you’re ready to explore, walk just fifteen minutes to Casa Batlló, or twenty to Casa Mila-La Pedrera to get more of a taste of this unique city.

The nearest metro stop is a four-minute walk away, so big attractions like Sagrada Familia and iconic shopping streets like El Diagonal are within easy reach. The home was renovated recently and it's kitted out with all kinds of tech – like the automatic lights that turn on when they sense movement, the Bluetooth sound system, and an exercise machine. The jacuzzi bathtub, rainfall shower, and the large TV with plenty of cable and streaming options make it a very chilled choice.

Located in Barcelona’s central Eixample neighbourhood, this bright and cheerful apartment puts you in a prime position to explore the city’s most iconic sights, including many of Gaudí’s most famous architectural wonders that are a short stroll from your door.

You’ll find this comfortable apartment on a leafy street in the Eixample district. Inside, there’s a laidback homespun charm with an eclectic selection of artwork and inviting soft furnishings. We loved the original brick and beam ceilings, as well as the double set of French doors in the living space, allowing for plenty of sunlight and a fresh Spanish breeze. Put together a charcuterie board in your kitchen and serve at the dining table or head out for tapas in your trendy locale. There’s a good spot three doors down, not to mention an endless array of bars, rustic tavernas and upscale restaurants within no more than a ten-minute saunter. The famous Passeig de Gracia with its high-end stores and feats of Modernist architecture is reached in less than ten minutes by foot. But should you fancy a break from the city heat, Barceloneta Beach is an eighteen-minute bus ride away.

It's hard to find a terrace of this size in Eixample. Barcelona's tourist heart has it all, from Catalan modernist masterpieces to intimate cafes loved by locals. House of Lys has a great shell, although we'd love to see more personality in the decor itself. With plenty of light, space, and comfort, it's a great option for those whose priorities are functionality and location.

Perfectly placed, this stylish apartment has Barcelona’s best bits within easy reach. The Casa Milà and Sagrada Familia are within a twenty-minute walk of the building, and Somorrostro Beach is easily reached by metro. Those visiting on business will be pleased to know there’s a desk here for remote working, while those here for pleasure should make a beeline for the hammock. The home benefits from a balcony, but space is limited, so you won’t find anywhere to sit. 

Picasso's Home

Just three minutes away from Barcelona's most famous sight, the Sagrada Familia, this apartment couldn't be much more convenient. It's the ideal place to put your feet up and relax between adventures, combining style and comfort for a truly welcoming ambiance. Step through the door, and you'll find an oasis with soothing green walls, wooden floors and contrasting pops of red. The kitchen is sleek and modern – it's ideal for cooking with fresh, local ingredients – while the dining area has enough space for six to enjoy a meal together as they plan their sightseeing. Gaudí's unfinished church is the obvious first port of call, since it's just around the corner, and a half-hour stroll will bring you to La Rambla and Plaça de Catalunya. Plus, for travels further afield to the beach and beyond, there are great public transport links from here.

Inside your cool pad, you’ll find a soothing blend of natural tones sitting alongside eye-catching design elements like whitewashed brick walls and arched ceilings in the living area. Open up the French doors to let the breeze flow through as you relax on the sofa with a good book and a mug of coffee, or perch by the Juliet balcony with a glass of wine as you people-watch from your privileged position. 

Should you need to catch up on work, there’s a handy desk area to make any business needs a cinch, while a good night’s sleep is all but guaranteed in the wonderfully curated bedrooms. 


Craft Cradle 

The well-equipped kitchen and the tastefully decorated living room are brilliantly bright. However, the other rooms are considerably darker. For some, the simplicity of the interior design may be underwhelming and, although this apartment may not score highly in the character stakes, its location is brilliant. Fort Pienc, a neighbourhood in the Eixample district, is known for drawing in a younger crowd. Concert halls, cafes, restaurants, and museums are all reachable on foot.
