We love the living area’s tiled floors and the French doors here that lead out onto a petite balcony – the ideal spot to enjoy a glass of Spanish wine at sunset. Alternatively, make your way out onto the inner courtyard patio where a plethora of plants creates the perfect canvas for morning coffees ahead of a day of sightseeing.

You're in for a treat with a stay at this contemporary apartment perched along a handsome leafy avenue of the well-heeled Eixample district. Home to Gaudí's architectural gems, haute couture shops, and Michelin star restaurants, they call this neck of the woods Quadrat d'Or (Golden Square) for a good reason.

Back at home, the pristine, uncluttered interiors will appeal to all you minimalists out there. Flooded with natural daylight thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, it feels like a breath of fresh air to return to after a day soaking up all that Gaudi extravagance in the streets below.

Drop your bags in the spacious hallway, grab a glass of something crisp (the complimentary chilled wine will help with that), then fling the balcony doors open wide to watch the grand avenue of Gran Via bustle below. One of Barcelona's longest boulevards crossing right through the city, it's an impressive sight to behold. And thanks to its elevated position on the fifth floor, the spacious bedrooms feel surprisingly quiet at night with the windows closed and the black-out blinds drawn.

How Transparent

Just a few steps away from the Sagrada Familia, you'll find this chic apartment. Not only does it have a perfect location in the heart of Barcelona, but it's also stylish and convenient – city slickers will fall in love at first sight. 

Open the front door, and you'll find a gorgeous living area cloaked in greens and creams, with plenty of natural textures to bring warmth to the space. Pour a glass of Rioja and flop down on the comfy sofa, or head outside onto the balcony to enjoy your tipple in the fresh air. If you need to do some work then you'll find a desk space in one of the bedrooms, which is ideal for study sessions or remote meetings. Or, head to the kitchen to practice your Spanish-style cooking in the kitchen and share your culinary creations with your guests. 

Your first sightseeing stop will definitely be the epic Sagrada Familia, but there is plenty more to do after you've ticked off Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece. The streets of Eixample are packed with gorgeous art nouveau buildings housing boutiques and restaurants where you can blend in with the area's stylish residents. And, if you fancy exploring further afield, the winding Gothic Quarter and Barcelona Beach are both just a metro journey away.

Wherever you find yourself, this apartment provides a wonderful sanctuary to pause, rest and soak up the generous spirit of this special city. 

Tones of Caramel 

Looking to the African desert for design inspiration, this Eixample apartment is dominated by earthy tones, natural materials and a few houseplants to add a burst of bright colour. Other aspects are a little more contemporary – you only have to look at the minimalist white kitchen to see what we mean.

Even though it sits among one of Barcelona's most bustling districts, there's something innately relaxing about the space, whether you're listening to a vinyl record with a breeze blowing in over the Juliet balcony or enjoying a meal cooked with locally bought ingredients on the round dining table.

And when it comes to sightseeing, you don't have far to venture from your front door. The mighty Sagrada Familia is less than a quarter of an hour's walk, as is Parc de la Ciutadella in the opposite direction. You're especially well served by cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets, too.

Spanish Sahara

You’ll find this smart bolthole placed around the corner from two of Eixample’s hotspots – Arc de Triomf and the vast green spaces of Ciutadella's Park. While we love the home's overall design, the apartment lacks natural daylight in places. Although the cosy, light-filled atrium room leading off the lounge is a nice touch for morning coffees and evening drinks. If six guests share, two of you will have to make do with the sofa bed in the lounge. Not ideal for some, but it could work out fine for children sharing or a shorter stay.

The Pearl's Jewel

Located in the iconic Eixample barrio, this elegant apartment is a salve to Barcelona’s busy streets. Inside, soft white walls and muted tones are classic and calming, while the vaulted ceiling, French windows, and a strong preference for wood over plastic give this home a rustic feel in spite of its modern design features. Sink into those gloriously soft sofas with a café con leche, listening to the birdsong in the treetops just the other side of the balcony doors. Once you’re feeling rested and rejuvenated, it’s a ten-minute stroll to the leafy boulevards of Passeig de Gracia, with its luxury stores and Modernist architecture. Foodies with a penchant for fine dining should stay local, the coveted Enric Granados walkway is home to a number of upscale eateries.

We particularly loved the ornate ceiling mouldings in the living space. When you arrive, throw open the curtains and step out onto your Juliet balcony, feeling the warmth of Barcelona’s glorious sunshine as the breeze ripples through the quiet leafy streets below. It’s hard to believe this home is a ten-minute walk from the buzzing Plaza Catalunya, often regarded as Barcelona’s most central point. From here, you’ll find the Passeig de Gracia, with its emblematic Modernist buildings, high-end boutiques and upscale eateries. Better yet, the trendy El Born neighbourhood, famous for its artsy crowd and boho feel is only a fifteen-minute walk away.

Like many of our guests, we have a soft spot for high ceilings – and this spot in the central Eixample district of Barcelona offers just that. Huge french doors invite free-flowing natural daylight through the main living and bedroom spaces in abundance. Meanwhile, an open plan layout creates a sociable setting to kick back between discovering vibrant Barcelona's cultural sights, artistic architecture, and culinary delights. 

Like the city, it resides in, this home is bursting with character. While a coherent design aesthetic persists throughout, minimalist features like the curtains and patterned pillows break the monotony with a pop of colour – a contemporary and, above all, comfortable base from which to soak up the city. Perfect for couples or small families, you’ll find everything needed for a comfortable stay here – and nearby metro stations make hopping across the city a breeze. If you don’t feel like cooking you’ll find eateries aplenty on your doorstep, and when you crave a spot of greenery, a visit to Ciutadella Park is a must for a fresh-air stroll. 

Barcelona Soul

Conveniently close to Paseo de Gracia and Plaza Catalunya, this home is a great choice for families on-the-go and in the mood for exploring. Choose from a wide selection of great restaurants nearby, or pick up some fresh croissants for breakfast from the lovely cafe downstairs. Sink back into the beautiful bathtub, or enjoy the leafy view from any one of the three beautiful little balconies.

Set in vibrant El Fort Pienc, fringing the neighbourhoods of El Born, Eixample, and Sagrada, you’ve got all of the city’s hotspots at your feet from this smart apartment. It’s worth noting that the second bedroom feels snug compared to that whopper of a king-sized main room. Though the separate shower rooms for each bedroom are a bonus if you need to speed mornings along. While the floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony doors are impressive, there’s no outside space to sit out here. But with Barcelona’s leafy Parc de la Ciutadella just a stroll away, we don’t think you’ll mind.

Located on leafy Girona Street in Barcelona, this home offers a lovely combination of traditional charm and modern edge. The soothing blue tones of the living room and the colourful floor tiles make it a stylish sanctuary where you can relax when you're not exploring the hectic city. To keep you entertained there's a collection of books, and also a piano where you can practise your scales or play a tune for your fellow guests. The balcony is another added bonus – it's the ideal spot to sip your morning coffee alfresco or indulge in a nightcap at the end of the day. And, the location in Eixample puts you in a fantastic spot for sightseeing. The area has the largest concentration of Art Nouveau buildings in Europe, and you'll love wandering through the streets and admiring the beautiful architecture. Plaça de Catalunya is less than ten minutes away, while Gaudi's stunning modernist works, Casa Batlló and Casa Mila are both reachable on foot in under twenty minutes. 

The City Orchid

If you like big, open spaces, then this home is for you. As you enter the building, an elegant archway leads you through to this roomy and tastefully furnished apartment. An immaculate wooden floor runs throughout, connecting all three brilliant bedrooms that give each member of the family their own space to relax. The balcony is simply lovely – it's the ideal place to enjoy breakfast or chill out with a glass of wine after a busy day seeing the sights. As you're super close to busy Plaza Cataluña, and the main shopping street, Passeig de Gràcia, it's ideal for those planning to indulge in some retail therapy during their visit to the city. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants so, come evening, you can do as the locals do and savour some delicious Catalan dishes over a glass of wine. 

Londres

Just eight minutes from the Plaça de Catalunya on foot, this renovated home boasts a central location in the heart of Barcelona. You'll find it in the Eixample, tucked away in an elegant alleyway and offering a quiet refuge from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you're surrounded by a delightful array of boutiques and eateries and within walking distance of the main sights. Go shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, picnic in Ciutadella Park or marvel at the Sagrada Familia – all less than a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep. 

Inside, spacious rooms flaunt high ceilings, large windows and stylish decor, while contemporary amenities promise a want-for-nothing stay. We especially love the balcony. Offering leafy views, this is the perfect place to sunbathe. Home chefs will appreciate the fully-equipped kitchen, where a breakfast bar beckons for mornings roosted here, sipping quick coffees before slipping out for breakfast – we recommend the croissants from the little cafe downstairs.

Skyline To

The Eixample district is packed with boutique shopping, fine-dining restaurants, and stylish bars. Of course, as the area is also famous for Gaudí masterpieces such as Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, we think it might be pretty handy to live less than a twenty-minute walk from both? In this sumptuous apartment, you’ll be able to stroll home from architectural marvels with ease. Speaking of which, we love the traditional aspects of the home – high ceilings and French windows with wrought-ironwork are a must for flats in this area. Elegant furniture accentuates the look, like wooden antiques and the flowing curtains which beautifully frame the Catalan sunlight. Fresh flowers bring an organic feel to the home, contrasting the modernity of the glass-topped tables where they’re placed. And from large, comfortable bedrooms, you can peer over the balconette to admire street views and pick out a café for lunch as you plan the day ahead. With the Urquinaona metro stop just a four-minute walk, this apartment is perfectly situated for local attractions, as well as visiting sights further afield.

Situated close to the lovely Ciutadella Park and the Arc de Triomf, this apartment has a small balcony and minimal furniture for maximum space. We think it's a great choice for families – your host may be able to provide a cot and high chair if you're travelling with little ones, and well-behaved pets are welcome. The decor is a charming blend of original features from when the home was first built in 1910, along with more modern elements to make your stay comfortable and easy.

La Casa Joana

Situated in Eixample, this home has you near the centre of the action, surrounded by world-class modernist architecture and a host of delicious restaurants and cafes. The home itself takes its style seriously, too. We love the old Barcelona tiles that line the floor of the living room and bedrooms. The rich red rose wallpaper and the pink accent wall complement them quite beautifully. The breakfast table has brilliant views over the city, while the kitchen is sleek and perfect for whipping up snacks. Recline on the massive grey sectional in style in the living room, or luxuriate in the tub. This home is an amalgamation of texture and material, making it a truly pleasing space to spend time in. However, when you’re ready to explore, walk just fifteen minutes to Casa Batlló, or twenty to Casa Mila-La Pedrera to get more of a taste of this unique city.

This sizzling apartment, located in the lively Eixample district, is the perfect place to call home during a whirlwind getaway to Barcelona. With plenty of space both inside and out, and with stylish details in every corner, you'll settle into this sanctuary in the city within no time at all.

The owner has added some Southeast Asian inspiration to the apartment, and you can embrace a zen state of mind on your arrival. With an earthy colour palette and soft textures, it's a true haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Catch up on emails in the dedicated workspace, or stretch out on the sofa with a glass of wine as you plan your itinerary. And, with an elaborate private balcony, you can enjoy breathing in the fresh air as you sip your coffee each morning – it's the perfect way to start the day. 

The surrounding Eixample area is renowned for its vibrant spirit and art nouveau architecture – you could easily spend days wandering through the gorgeous streets, stopping off in the independent boutiques as you go. The Arc de Triomph is just around the corner, and Ciutadella Park is an eight-minute walk away. And, if you're craving some culture, you can walk to both the Sagrada Familia and the Casa Mila within twenty minutes.

You’ll find this comfortable apartment on a leafy street in the Eixample district. Inside, there’s a laidback homespun charm with an eclectic selection of artwork and inviting soft furnishings. We loved the original brick and beam ceilings, as well as the double set of French doors in the living space, allowing for plenty of sunlight and a fresh Spanish breeze. Put together a charcuterie board in your kitchen and serve at the dining table or head out for tapas in your trendy locale. There’s a good spot three doors down, not to mention an endless array of bars, rustic tavernas and upscale restaurants within no more than a ten-minute saunter. The famous Passeig de Gracia with its high-end stores and feats of Modernist architecture is reached in less than ten minutes by foot. But should you fancy a break from the city heat, Barceloneta Beach is an eighteen-minute bus ride away.

In the bustling area of Dreta de l'Eixample, surrounded by kerbside cafés and trendy boutiques, you’re never short of local sights and exquisite architecture. With two of Gaudí’s masterpieces – Casa Milà and Casa Batlló – within twenty minutes on foot, this apartment is certainly in the middle of it all. To match the elegant area, the interiors are superbly classy. Marble flooring features throughout, as well as an upright piano, corniced ceilings, and French windows letting Catalan sun stream into the lounge. While these traditional aspects bring character, you’ve also got modern touches such as ghost-style dining chairs and a sleek, white kitchen. But our favourite feature has to be the terrace. Get comfortable on the wicker armchairs as you wait for the barbecue to warm up. Alfresco dining is most definitely on the menu, as well as a bottle of tempranillo while you watch the sunset. From up here, you can look at perfectly-kept neighbouring gardens, as well as panoramic views of other beautiful buildings. If you ever feel the need to head back to street level, take a four-minute walk to Urquinaona metro and explore the entire city.

It's hard to find a terrace of this size in Eixample. Barcelona's tourist heart has it all, from Catalan modernist masterpieces to intimate cafes loved by locals. House of Lys has a great shell, although we'd love to see more personality in the decor itself. With plenty of light, space, and comfort, it's a great option for those whose priorities are functionality and location.

Modern, bright and centrally located, this apartment is an ideal base for those looking to experience the buzzing heart of the city with spectacular views to boot. Boasting a long private balcony accessed from the living area and both bedrooms, you can feast on wide-sweeping cityscapes and ogle at the Torre Glòries as you dine alfresco or soak up some rays from the Acapulco chairs. 

Inside, you’ll find an equally enticing space with wood floors, contemporary decor and a sociable open-plan layout that invites chefs of the group to whip up feasts around the kitchen island and beckons plenty of relaxing on the sofa. 

When you’re ready to venture out for some sightseeing, make a beeline for the nearby Sagrada Familia or hop on the bus to sink your toes in the sand at Barceloneta Beach. With countless tapas bars, restaurants and shops on your doorstep too, you’ll get a true taste of the city here in no time. 


Gloria Glimmer

Dense with wicker and self-watering foliage (via a smart irrigation system), this one-bed apartment opposite the Sagrada Famila is well-equipped for the modern traveller. A dedicated, clutter-free workspace makes working from home easy; pause between sessions with coffee at the sturdy wood table or on the squashy pouffe in your office. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill rooms with natural light. Grab an art book and curl up on the sofa in the afternoon or turn on the Netflix-equipped smart TV. For dinner, you’ll find the kitchen fully fitted out with cooker, oven, microwave and dishwasher. Should you wish to head out, you’ll find the central sights of Eixample right outside your door.

Glowfly

This airy and sleek apartment welcomes you inside, where avant-garde style meets sea breezes and sandy beaches. The huge living space, which extends out invitingly onto a lovely balcony, merges with the strikingly original and flawless trendy furniture, a tropical black and white artistic wall, and a traditional, red-brick, Catalan vaulted ceiling. The stunning tiled kitchen features an island in the centre, great for a drink of wine and a chit chat.
 
See what you can thrift at El Mercat dels Encants, a flea market with a mirrored canopy. Adding another jewel to Barcelona's already sparkling crown is by being home to some of the greatest beaches – walk down the gorgeous stretch of golden sand that overlooks the Mediterranean – great for getting a tan and dining at a beachfront restaurant. Take a nineteen-minute stroll to Ciutadella Park, grab a blanket, and enjoy the laid-back ambience. After the sun sets, head to Plaça Reial for a sumptuous candlelight dinner before seeing a flamenco dance with a glass of sangria in hand.


Simple & Sweet

The well-equipped kitchen and the tastefully decorated living room are brilliantly bright. However, the other rooms are considerably darker. For some, the simplicity of the interior design may be underwhelming and, although this apartment may not score highly in the character stakes, its location is brilliant. Fort Pienc, a neighbourhood in the Eixample district, is known for drawing in a younger crowd. Concert halls, cafes, restaurants, and museums are all reachable on foot.
