Even though it sits among one of Barcelona's most bustling districts, there's something innately relaxing about the space, whether you're listening to a vinyl record with a breeze blowing in over the Juliet balcony or enjoying a meal cooked with locally bought ingredients on the round dining table.

Adorned with Modernist masterpieces, this part of Barcelona boasts great architecture on every corner and even the insides of an unassuming building like this one show some masterful craft. True, the street you'll be staying on is a little bit noisy, but we think that easy access to the cultural heart of town more than makes up for it.

You're in for a treat with a stay at this contemporary apartment perched along a handsome leafy avenue of the well-heeled Eixample district. Home to Gaudí's architectural gems, haute couture shops, and Michelin star restaurants, they call this neck of the woods Quadrat d'Or (Golden Square) for a good reason.

Back at home, the pristine, uncluttered interiors will appeal to all you minimalists out there. Flooded with natural daylight thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, it feels like a breath of fresh air to return to after a day soaking up all that Gaudi extravagance in the streets below.

Drop your bags in the spacious hallway, grab a glass of something crisp (the complimentary chilled wine will help with that), then fling the balcony doors open wide to watch the grand avenue of Gran Via bustle below. This is an immaculate home with lots of natural light and several external balconies, perfect for people-watching. Located in Barcelona's 'it' neighbourhood El Born, you'll be within walking distance to the most famous sights, as well as local hidden gems.

Bedrooms two and three are both extremely small, but we won't hold this against an otherwise fab home. The living space might just be home to the most beautiful flooring in the Plum Collection – we are obsessed!

Take the flight of stairs up to the top of this handsome building and you’ll find a hidden secret – an impressive shared sun terrace, the perfect spot for sundowners before heading out for authentic tapas. And you’re in the right neighbourhood to do so. The surrounding streets are archetypical of El Born - Barcelona’s ‘It’ neighbourhood, don’t you know. You’re only two minutes from heaps of trendy bars, coffee shops, and independent boutiques, as well as the imposing Basilica of Santa Maria Del Mar. Start your day with a spot of people watching at an outdoor café before heading on to one of the many sights located nearby.  The lively streets of Plaça Catalunya, Les Rambles, and the Gothic Quarter are all just a fifteen-minute walk away – as is the city’s sandy beach. Your only conundrum will be deciding where to head first.

With so much to see and do nearby, catching some respite from the city is easy here – as a soothing colour palette with calming wood tones and soft furnishings create a space boasting comfort and practicality. Sink into the plush "L" shaped sofa with a cup of tea, before running a bath and unwinding for a quiet night at home. For evenings when you're feeling most energised, lap up the ease of going on nights out too – it would be rude not to make the most of being able to walk out here after all. And of course, if you do plan on venturing further afield in the city, you'll have bus stops and metro stations within less than five minutes reach too.

The mini-bar with local eco soaps, toothbrushes, beers, wine and juices is a nice touch and there's nothing like stepping out onto your little balcony, glass in hand, and taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant area. Bedrooms are calm and quiet, and all the more beautiful thanks to their Catalan tiled floors, high ceilings and tall windows. But our favourite thing about this charming place is the hosts, who live in an apartment on the top floor and are welcoming and knowledgeable. They'll look after your bags before or after checkout, welcome you with a local breakfast and even allow you to use their beautiful roof terrace from time to time – where you can see across the city to the sea.

Just eight minutes from the Plaça de Catalunya on foot, this renovated home boasts a central location in the heart of Barcelona. You'll find it in the Eixample, tucked away in an elegant alleyway and offering a quiet refuge from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you're surrounded by a delightful array of boutiques and eateries and within walking distance of the main sights. Go shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, picnic in Ciutadella Park or marvel at the Sagrada Familia – all less than a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep.

It's right on the iconic Las Ramblas with its street performers, cafes, restaurants, markets and shops, and it's close to some more of Barcelona's most famous streets. Pedestrianised Calle Ferrán, which leads to the Barcelona City Hall and Plaça Reial, one of the city's most beautiful squares, are both nearby.

Back at this recently renovated apartment, we loved the characterful living space with its exposed brick walls, which are more than 200 years old and its high ceilings with wooden beams. The cute balcony is perfect for enjoying a glass of Cava while watching the comings and goings on Las Ramblas. This place is ideal for atwo couples or business professionals.

This Eastern-inspired home in Barcelona feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Step inside, and you'll instantly feel at ease, thanks to the neutral colour palette and simple yet stylish design. When your home is just a three-minute walk from the dragon-like facade of Casa Batlló, you can certainly say that you’re in the heart of Gaudí’s Barcelona. Inside, colour and decor work together to create a playful and quirky vibe. The bright green shutters on the French doors certainly look traditional, but contrast tastefully with modern interiors. Similarly, we love the minimalist furniture in the kitchen and living space, juxtaposed with busy, patterned feature wallpaper. Situated on one of the main veins of the city, this apartment is more than convenient. Sightseeing is easy from this location, as well as from the home itself – the balconette stretches from the lounge to the bedroom, allowing ample space to look out to fantastic views. Down on the street, you can walk two minutes to the Passeig de Gràcia metro to get all around the city. A stop you should definitely make is the thirteen-minute train trip to the Sagrada Familia. Let yourself be overwhelmed by its beauty and detail, before wandering back through the decorative blocks of the city, stopping in for tapas and wine en route home.

When you’re staying here, it’s far too easy to run into striking architecture at every turn. And at just an eight-minute walk from shimmering Casa Batlló, this home makes it even easier.

Arriving at its yellow entrance, this standout block is built in a traditional, Spanish Colonial style. This old-world grandeur continues through the front door, in majestic hardwood, with a solid marble staircase leading up to your apartment – but the interiors are a pleasant contrast.

Pout yourself a tempranillo and take a wander around this modern, Scandi-style home. Huge windows lined with railings along a balconette are perfect for peering over with your wine glass in hand. The zen-like lounge offers somewhere understated and calming for you to relax in after exploring the bustling locale. A sleek, matte grey kitchen tops it all off – a lovely little spot where you can prepare ‘pa amb tomàquet’ and a bowl of juicy Spanish olives.

We didn't expect to find a home like this in an unassuming building like the one that hides the Trojan Horse. It's obvious that an interior designer was involved in the curation of this stylish home — there's a consistent theme of industrial chic, that's best expressed by the bare brick wall and sleek lampshades. There's an abundance of natural light with two balconies extending the clutter-free and clean living space and helping this relatively small home maximise its assets. Find a sunny reading spot by the window on a Wegner-inspired chair and gather around the vibrant dining area for convivial coffee and churros – we loved the bright yellow chairs. Both bedrooms benefit from tasteful scatter cushions, throws and quirky headboards that make for a light and airy spot to relax with a magazine.
