If you want to stay in a prestigious neighbourhood, how about this home in Salamanca? There are plenty of designer boutiques, art galleries and fine-dining restaurants to explore in the area. Naturally, you will hear some city noise here. This south-facing apartment is light and bright, and we love the Juliet balcony off the open-plan living room with its leafy Ayala Street views. There’s not much food preparation space in the kitchen, but that said, it’s well-equipped, and you can always let your host arrange for a private chef to cook some authentic tapas dishes.

Modern Hideaway

Molten Brass is neat and tidy. There isn’t a lot that jumps out at you, but that’s not necessarily a problem – the atmosphere inside is pretty calm. That stands in contrast to the atmosphere on the street below, which is pretty intense, but that’s because you’re in the heart of Malasaña, so there’s tonnes to do. The kitchen is well-appointed for rustling up light bites, while three bedrooms offer respite after a long day on your feet. If you're looking for a laid-back stay, this pad is a great choice.

Located in Atocha, this home will put you within walking distance of Madrid's famous sights–and we mean all of them. From Plaza Mayor to the Prado, you'll be surrounded by the best of Madrid whatever direction you head off to. Retro Baroque is an eclectic home that doesn't hide its eccentricities. Classical styles mix with transparent polymers in a bold attempt to create a contemporary look. It's not for everyone, but with luxurious touches and natural light, it's best suited for urban explorers seeking comfort after a long day.

This chic and attractive apartment has everything you might need for a comfortable city break. It’s located in Chueca, one of Madrid’s liveliest neighbourhoods, full of cafes, boutiques, and bars. Despite its central location, this is a peaceful home-from-home, ideal for unwinding after busy sightseeing days and evenings spent feasting on tapas. It’s bright and welcoming, flooded with light, and has been beautifully decorated in muted tones. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room – if you’re hoping for more space, we’d recommend a maximum occupancy of two. 

The Bohemian Retreat

Make your stay in Madrid truly unique with this beautifully restored 19th-century apartment. Located just a four-minute walk from Puerta del Sol, you couldn’t be better placed to explore the city – you’ll be feeling the pulse of the Spanish capital in no time. Inside, tall beamed ceilings, wood floors and exposed brick walls nod to the home’s history with antique-inspired furnishings creating an almost villa-type atmosphere that’s as dreamy as it is bohemian. We love the French doors that open out onto romantic Juliet balconies with views of Plaza de Jacinto Benavente below. With the bed facing the picture windows, you can wake up and enjoy your morning coffee first thing while people-watching from your fourth-floor vantage point. With a beautiful stained-glass adorned bathroom and a working fireplace to cosy up next to on cooler nights – a glass of Spanish wine in hand – you’ve got everything you need for a relaxing, stylish stay. Outside of your home, Madrid’s famous shopping street, Gran Vía, is a ten-minute walk away, Plaza Mayor is five minutes on foot, the Prado Museum is walkable in fifteen and beautiful El Retiro Park is a twenty-minute stroll from your door.

This is a big and cleverly laid-out home that impressed us with how quiet it was – in spite of the fact that it's in the strictest centre of Madrid. Both Puerta del Sol and the Prado are within walking distance, setting you up for great sightseeing walks. Corinthian gives the impression of old-timey grandeur. It's not a scratch-free home, but one that feels lived in and furnished with a personality. The high ceiling and use of wood in almost every room give it a warm and welcoming vibe.

As you enter the apartment, there’s an instant sense of calm and tranquillity – making it the perfect setting to relax during your city stay. Outside, wander through the neighbourhood towards Plaza del Dos de Mayo – only a five–minute walk away.  This historic square is a great spot to soak in the lively city atmosphere from a bar or restaurant – it also has a wonderful weekend market. From here you can spend your day visiting galleries, shopping, dining and admiring Madrid’s iconic sights.

Positioned just a fifteen-minute stroll from El Retiro Park, this home provides a stylish base in Madrid’s beating heart. You’ll find it nestled in the cobbled streets of Barrio de las Letras, surrounded by an array of eateries, bars, and museums, the Reina Sofia and the Museo del Prado, less than ten minutes from your doorstep on foot. Perched on the third floor, it boasts delightful views from its street-facing balcony. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room and the main bedroom is located on the mezzanine level (with no door), but you’ll find all the essentials needed to make it your own. Outside, it’s just a short stroll to local tapas bars, shops and iconic sights like the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid.

The Narcisse is only a few minutes away from Calle Fuencarral, one of our favourite shopping streets in Madrid. To say that it's centrally located is an understatement, especially since this home is practically surrounded by Malasaña's finest quirky cafes and restaurants. Narcisse is an ambitious home – the golden details are risky but well-balanced with calmer tones, and the layout is (rightfully) focused on maximising the natural light, which mostly comes from the French doors. But in the end, this home won us over with the urban view.

Kick back and relax under the lounge’s beamed ceiling or step outside and gaze out at the city’s rooftops from the comfort of your private terrace, your camera in one hand and a glass of Rioja in the other.

Blue Torito is a chilled-out home located in one of the liveliest parts of Madrid. Even though it sports a gentle colour palette, it uses patterns and textures to give it a bit more spunk. From woven carpets to the textured headboards, it's apparent that the hosts like playing with details. The design is somewhat lacking a coherent theme, but Blue Torito is still a solid, bright, and comfortable choice, with access to a resident-only pool and terrace.
