Found in a resort with a tropical vibe, this apartment caught our eye thanks to the fantastic surroundings. The home itself is simple but has everything you need for an extended stay – the terrace stood out to us in particular as a spot to get some privacy while still enjoying the sun. The large communal pools will be a real hit with the kids, and golf enthusiasts will be pleased to know there are two courses nearby. And if you want to hit the coast, Puerto Banús is just a short drive.

Outside, you can experience pure relaxation while lounging by the pool – which can also be heated for an additional fee. There are also four terraces, a cinema room and a home gym here, ensuring plenty of entertainment options for the whole group. Your host can arrange child-friendly amenities and one of the rooms is adapted for guests with reduced mobility, making this a great option for a family gathering. You will need a car to get around the area, but it’s just a short drive to the nearest golf courses while Marbella and Puerto Banús are about ten minutes by car.

This recently refurbished Andalucian villa has all the ingredients you could want for a relaxing break in the Spanish sunshine. We can't really start with anything other than the swimming pool that takes up most of the garden, which is overlooked by palm trees and surrounded by loungers.

Around the home itself, you'll find a terrace that stretches around the property with a lounge, alfresco dining area and a pretty impressive outdoor kitchen set-up. It's fair to say that you could spend the bulk of your time outside, but that would be being the modern interior a disservice. There are plenty of standout features behind the front door, from the sleek wooden kitchen and spa-standard bathrooms to the crocodile-shaped bench in one of the bedrooms.

And the location's not half bad, either. You can be standing on the golden sands of Playa del Saladillo in around twenty minutes on foot or strolling around the designer boutiques of Puerto Banús in just under the same amount of time in the car.

However, the main bedroom's open-plan en-suite may not be the best option for shy showerers. You're situated between Estepona and Puerto Banús for beachside trips.

We were sold on the mountain views from the private terrace of this La Quinta apartment alone – and that was before we'd even seen the vistas at night with the lights of Puerto Banus sparkling in the distance. There are only four sunloungers, so you may need to pop your towel on one to claim it, but there's a sofa and dining area as well. We love that the bedrooms open out onto the balcony too. This development is within walking distance of San Pedro de Alcántara with its restaurants, bars and beaches, while glitzy Marbella is around a twenty-minute drive away.

You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just 18 kilometres to Puerto Banús and the nearest beaches.

Locally, it’s a mere ten minutes to beautiful Puerto Banús, a must-visit for a true taste of the Costa del Sol.

This villa is exactly what you’d expect from a pad on Marbella’s Costa del Sol. It’s modern, minimal and luxurious. The outside is the star of the show here, featuring a large pool, a hot tub and a sauna. Great views can be admired from every turn – there are multiple alfresco dining areas, as well as a rooftop lounge – perfect for watching sunsets with your loved ones. When thoughts turn to excursions, the sands of Playa Guadalmina are a short drive away, as is the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, or why not have your host arrange a boat trip?
