The apartment is bright and modern with doors leading out to a lovely balcony offering beautiful views of Fuengirola and the surrounding Mijas mountains. You'll also have shared access to the swimming pool, outdoor gym, and children's play area, making it ideal for relaxing days at home. It's also worth noting that while the apartment can sleep up to five, three people will be sleeping on a bunk bed in the second bedroom which is only suitable for younger children.

Inside, the interior is cloaked with contemporary, sleek furniture and warm, soothing tones. It’s the kind of space that no matter the weather, you’ll enjoy spending time in. Whether you’re taking time out from the mid-day sun or spending a cosy evening in, the stylish decor and furniture lend themselves to any occasion. Another one of the great things about this home is the number of things to do. The kids will struggle to find themselves bored, with a PlayStation 4, plenty of DVDs, and table tennis in the games room. 

The interior is a wonderful space, but we imagine you’ll be spending most of your time in the idyllic outdoor area. You’ll love spending lazy days lounging by the pool, taking a dip in its waters to cool down, before returning to your sun lounger to catch up on your book. While you relax and soak up the sun, the kids can busy themselves with the outdoor trampoline, playing a bit of football, or trying to make the basketball hoop. 

Come the afternoon, a nice glass of wine in the whirlpool is a must – the incredible scenery of the mountains when the sun starts to lower will take your breath away. Dinnertime is particularly special. You can prepare meals together in the well-equipped kitchen to be enjoyed alfresco, surrounded by the dusk sky. Or, you can let your host arrange for a private chef to take care of that for you.

Being so close to not one but two 18-hole golf courses, a round or two is obligatory. If you never wanted to leave this slice of heaven other than to play golf or lounge on the beach, we’d understand. There’s enough to keep you entertained for weeks. But if you find yourself wondering what those scenic mountains look like up close, there are several hiking trails to explore. And with such big country roads, it’s perfectly safe (and fun) to roam the area on bicycles, discovering new places along the way.

This modern apartment is located just 100 metres from the beach in Mijas Costa. You’ll be able to enjoy sea views from your terrace, which boasts a Jacuzzi – you can really unwind here. The apartment is part of a complex with communal facilities including swimming pools and tennis and paddle courts. This apartment is a convenient base for a quiet beachside break, but it won’t suit everyone – it’s not the most sleek or modern apartment in our collection, and two guests will be sleeping on sofa beds in the living room.

It's fair to say that you're never far from a golf course on the Costa del Sol, but you can't get much closer than at this villa that overlooks fairways and bunkers. While it's good news for those obsessed with the sport, the even better news is that the home has plenty more to offer those not so keen.

The first of these that's likely to grab your attention is the infinity swimming pool that sits in the middle of the outdoor space, but there's also a neighbouring Jacuzzi once you've finished with paddling, plus a terrace with a table and barbecue ready for alfresco dinners that stretch long into the evening.

Even if the villa didn't have these wonderful outdoor amenities, we'd still be suitably impressed by it thanks to its contemporary interior. Huge windows and glass doors flood the living quarters with natural light, and there's a chic coherence to all of the furnishings and finishes, especially the minimalist kitchen and sleek bathrooms. Plus, there's also a games room with a billiards table and a bar that makes for a great place to gather the whole group together.

When it comes to days out, the question is where to begin? The beaches of Fuengirola and La Cala de Mijas can be reached in ten minutes by car, while the towns of Marbella and Puerto Banus are only a short drive away, too. And of course, you've always got the golf course on your doorstep, as well.

Located on a complex on the ever-popular Costa del Sol, this compact apartment is just a five-minute walk from the beach. You’ll have your own private garden here, with an alfresco dining terrace and loungers, as well as access to a shared swimming pool. Children are well catered for too, with a communal children’s pool and playground. While the kitchenette isn’t huge – especially when the home’s at full occupancy with guests three and floor sleeping on the sofa bed – there’s a choice of on-site restaurants, so this needn’t be a deal-breaker. And when you’re ready to explore, you’ll find a waterpark, a zoo, and the historic coastal town of Fuengirola just a short drive away.

A sofa bed in the living area offers flexible sleeping arrangements, though we think the space is best suited for a couple. It's also worth noting that some street noise should be expected, however, the small street-facing balcony is a nice touch here for early-evening drinks and watching the beachgoers return home. 

The Sunshine Above

The communal pool and gardens may be the main attractions at this coastal apartment, although the highlight for us is definitely the large balcony. The apartment itself is modern and practical, but it lacks some character. That said, there’s a bright open-plan living room for relaxing and a lovely sea view to admire while you’re preparing a tapas dinner. We think this location makes for a great Costa del Sol base – golf courses, sandy beaches, and well-known beach restaurants are all within easy reach.

The communal pool and Jacuzzi are welcome additions, though it’s worth noting they’re situated next to the apartment’s private terrace, so this home may not suit those who prefer absolute privacy.
