This gorgeous Granada home, eclectically furnished and boasting panoramic views of the awesome Alhambra, is both the perfect place from which to explore all that this former Moorish stronghold sprawled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada has to offer by way of culture and cuisine, and a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Featuring a large natural light filled kitchen cum dining room and separate sitting room, you’ll easily be able to get the gang together for breakfast at the breakfast bar, meal times at the dining table and chill time on the sofas and easy chairs, or to arrange for some unadulterated me time.

With so much within walking distance, culture vultures will want to begin with the Alhambra’s astonishing palace complex and landscaped gardens, before paying a visit the city’s cavernous cathedral and the Botanical Gardens of the University. As the sun sets, you’ll want to stop for tapas and a glass of sweet local wine or make a beeline for the Albayzín's 16th-century Palacio de los Olvidados where a night of intimate flamenco dance awaits. Found on seventeen acres of land, this former mill house is now a gateway to the whitewashed town of Arcos de la Frontera. The beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls are a welcome reminder of what the home used to be, but the waterwheel in the dining room and millstream in the garden are what truly pays homage to its history. Not everyone may fall in love with the rusticness, but the house is roomy and sunny, and with two separate casitas, the whole family can have their own private space. Children will love the matura woodland garden and swimming pool, whilst adults will appreciate drinks and alfresco dining on the shaded terrace.

Amid the rugged mountains and unspoilt countryside of the Alcornocales National Park, this home is a rustic hideaway with breathtaking views. Entering through a charming porch-way, the ground floor opens out to bright and spacious rooms with tall sloping ceilings and exposed timber beams.

While the dated designs inside may not be to everyone's taste, the open-plan layout of the main living area sets the scene for a sociable stay – although we think twelve guests sharing two bathrooms will be a squeeze. Located about 11 kilometres from the nearest supermarket and amenities in Ubrique, the rural location requires a car to get around.

Dating back to the seventeenth century, this remarkable home sits in the middle of 535 hectares of land, the majority of which are put to use growing vines, olives, wheat, oats, beet and sunflowers. 

As you can imagine, these rural surroundings make for a rather peaceful atmosphere, which is perfect for enjoying this splendid property. The interior is dominated by period features, including high ceilings, wooden beams, a traditional fireplace in the living room and a collection of heraldic decorations on the wall. 

The grand dining table next to an ornate antique sideboard will add a sense of occasion to mealtimes, but there are plenty of modern aspects that don't take themselves too seriously. The games room with equipment for ping-pong, billiards and darts is one such example, as is the beautiful swimming pool that sits just outside.

The house sits on the outskirts of Jerez de la Frontera, an Andalusian city famous for sherry production, flamenco and equestrianism, the latter of which can be seen in action at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art only twelve minutes' drive away. Keen golfers will be pleased to hear of the seven golf courses located within a thirty-five kilometre radius, and thalassophiles will be delighted to know that the sea awaits a mere twenty-minute drive away. Your host can even arrange some pretty spectacular experiences too, including hot air balloon rides, sherry tasting and falconry sessions.

This home’s location, Macarena, is known for its hip, creative vibe. You’ll find vintage clothes and book shops, as well as the Mercado de la Feria market hall, with its stalls serving tasty paella and other local delicacies. There are plenty of tapas bars to sample, or visit the Park of the Perdigones, a seven-minute stroll away. There’s a Nordic style here, and the atrium fills the interiors with natural light, but we'd still say the space is fairly basic. And, at full capacity two people will be sleeping on a sofa in the living room – so you'll all need to get on well.

This simple yet stylish apartment offers a cosy spot to rest your head while you get to know Seville. Its small size means packing light is a must, and while the maximum occupancy is five, it may be a bit of a squeeze in the moments you're not out making the most of everything Seville has to offer. This home makes up for its small size with its delightfully central location – you'll be well-connected to the city centre, with no shortage of museums, restaurants, and churches like the famous Basílica de la Macarena within easy walking distance.

Close to La Alameda and the eye-catching Setas de Sevilla, this apartment offers a central stay with plenty to see and do within walking distance. While it’s not the biggest pad in our collection, there’s plenty to appreciate in its contemporary decor, including colourful art and Juliet balconies in the living room – perfect for perching next to with a glass of Spanish red. Two guests will need to share the sofa bed if you’re travelling with a group of four, and there’s not much in the way of a view from the bedroom. But for those looking to experience Seville to its fullest, this apartment is a great place from which to do so.

If all this wasn’t enough, the apartment has access to a shared roof terrace and a pool with fantastic views over the river to the Torre del Oro. These make up for the fact there are no vistas from the abode itself (the outlook is mainly over other apartments), but the place is well-furnished and equipped.

Boasting impressive views of the Torre del Oro from the building's shared roof terrace, this pad puts you right in the heart of historic Seville. Located in the authentic Triana neighbourhood, you'll be surrounded by cultural attractions, traditional tapas bars and great restaurants. While the apartment itself isn't the most inspiring, the handy kitchen is ideal for prepping a light bite before setting off. When you’re not out exploring, however, the communal solarium and rooftop pool serve as a lovely spot to unwind and work on your tan.

In the heart of the Santa Cruz district, this sleek apartment places you perfectly to make the most of the city’s historic sights. From here, you'll find the Giralda, the Alcázar, and Plaza de España within easy walking distance, while the area is surrounded by authentic restaurants, tapas bars, and shops. Back home, the interiors are a little generic for our liking, although it's a comfy place to relax in between sightseeing ventures. The kitchen is equipped for preparing homemade meals and with two en-suite bathrooms you'll be up and out from the get-go. Windows look out onto a narrow side street, so there’s not a lot of natural light, but all of Seville’s major sights are within easy walking distance.
