Fans of eclectic design will love this unusual apartment in a refurbished building in San Sebastian. The marble-style floating kitchen table is the perfect spot to plan your day over a morning java from the coffee machine, a cushion-festooned emerald sofa invites you to sink into it and watch a film on the smart TV, and the light fittings appear to quite literally jump out of the patterns on the walls behind them. If you are in need of some solitude, the quirky bedrooms are also a wonderful place to relax. And when you step outside, you’ll find the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, Urumea river and La Concha Beach are all just a short walk away.

Quaint Juliet balconies overlook the market, which is filled with local traders every morning. It's the perfect place to shop for produce to use in tapas and other dishes, which you can rustle up with ease in the glossy kitchenette. After finishing the evening with a glass of wine and a movie on the smart TV, snuggle up in the comfortable bedrooms for a restful night's sleep.

Combining a fantastic location with a fresh and modern feel, it’s the perfect choice for a weekend stay. A large bay window overlooking Calle Zubieta provides a peaceful place for people-watching, and you can even spy the boats bobbing in the bay just a stone’s throw away. To dive into the city’s vibrant culinary scene, a five-minute seafront stroll will take you to the cobblestoned Old Town, where lively pintxos bars rub shoulders with high-end boutiques. With little luxuries like a rainfall shower and small balconies off the living room and bedroom, you’ll enjoy living like a local at this clean and simple home.

On The Bay

This two-bedroom apartment sits in a handsome, refurbished complex at the heart of the San Sebastian shopping district, yet it’s mere blocks from the beach. Minimalists will love the white, bright living space with French windows wrapping around the corner of the building. Two small balconies allow for early-morning people-watching with a cup of coffee. The kitchen is separated by a sliding door – you can also keep it open for more sociable meal prep. Two bathrooms and two showers mean there’ll be no queueing in the morning, and each bedroom has its own French window with a small balcony if you need a little space.

Por La Ventana

Ideal for a small family or a couple, this home sits on a quiet street in the centre of San Sebastian, giving you easy access to the city’s main attractions without having to worry about excessive noise. The Scandi-cool interiors create a fresh, clean vibe – pull up one of the Wegner-esque chairs and catch up with the gang over a coffee. If you’re looking to accommodate a few more people, it’s also possible to rent the apartment next door – an attractive prospect for two families travelling together. Step outside and you’ll find yourself just moments from the Urumea River. To the west sits the iconic La Concha Beach, and across the river to the east, you’ll find Zurriola Beach, famous as a surfer’s paradise.

Boquerones

The windows in this apartment are huge, and for good reason. The sea views are simply stunning at all times of day, inviting you to spend hours gazing at the waves. There’s plenty of space for seven people to chill out in the living room or gather round the dining table for a meal whipped up in the ultra-modern kitchen. The golden sands of La Concha beach are just minutes away, where you can sunbathe, take a dip or go for a stroll. Nearby Zurriola Beach is famous for its surf culture – take a lesson or watch from the shore. The old town of San Sebastian is also close, with its pintxo bars serving drinks and little snacks to soak them up. Discerning diners can also treat themselves at one of the many Michelin star restaurants. After all that excitement, enjoy a nightcap on the terrace before heading to bed for a great night’s sleep.

Minimalistic in style, this property is straight to the point with its convenience factor, making it a great place to reside as you replenish your energy. Head out to the city to browse the shops and pop into a nearby cafe for a tasty baked good and a warm cup of freshly brewed coffee – the aroma will be hard to resist. There's a fantastic selection of restaurants that offer global cuisine to indulge in as well as a variety of delectable bars that serve up refreshing cocktails and wine. After exploring the hustle and bustle of the city, make your way to the beach to enjoy an evening by the sea.

Sunflower Daze

La Concha Bay is right outside the window – a constant backdrop whether you're in the living room, the dining area, or the two bedrooms. The interior balances warm materials with the kind of natural light that only a seafront position delivers, and there's a separate workspace tucked away from the main living space for anyone who needs to work from home. Step outside and La Concha Beach is immediately underfoot, with the promenade stretching one way towards the Old Town and the other towards Monte Igueldo's historic funicular.

Concha at Dawn

On the edge of the Cantabrian Sea, this home contrasts its old-world Spanish setting with clean lines, pops of colour and a distinct Scandi-cool feel. Cleverly appointed furnishings and a slick kitchen ensure you’ll have plenty of space to relax, gather for a lively meal or game of cards, or set up a comfortable workstation. Of course, no trip to San Sebastián would be complete without a visit to the shore, and the soft sands of Zurriola Beach are just moments away. As the sun sets, we can think of nothing better than stepping into the Old Town – thirty seconds from your door – and working your way through the pintxos bars.

Casa Contemporánea

As far as locations go, this San Sebastián apartment absolutely nails it. La Concha Beach is a five-minute stroll away, Old Town is within easy walking distance, and numerous bars, shops and restaurants line the surrounding streets. Chances are, you'll spend most of your time here exploring, but during downtime, the contemporary living space has relaxation written all over it. The finish is sleek and modern, with each bedroom having its own bathroom for added convenience. Factor in the option to arrange paid parking nearby – though a car is anything but necessary here – and it really ticks all the boxes.
