This is a typical French hilltop chateau, but this doesn't mean it's ordinary. The casually welcoming atmosphere is a product of modern furniture and restored period features, the kitchen being the best example of this harmony. Still, we expect you to spend much more time around this home than in it. With the huge pool that's perfect for a morning splash and the futuristic loungers around it, a gorgeous dining spot under the pergola, and a breezy back garden, there are plenty of spots to socialise or reflect in peace. There are stunning views from this home with its heated pool, summer kitchen and alfresco dining spots. Guests can also enjoy the table tennis, yoga, gym lawn and boules court in the terraced gardens planted with olive, orange and fig trees. Once owned by the 8th Earl Spencer, there’s an impressive Provençal-style lounge (one of several) and we love the conservatory reading room with its idyllic vistas. Some of the bedrooms here have en-suites and some open out onto the terrace, while two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed at full capacity. Location-wise, this place is just a short walk from the local village and it's around a thirty-minute drive from the beaches of the French Riviera.

We love the communal facilities at this charming villa. There are three swimming pools, no less, including a wave pool, a spa, a restaurant, a supermarket, and tennis courts. You can also simply relax on the terrace shaded by the vine covered pergola and take in the countryside views. Inside, there’s a traditional French vibe, and the vistas from the main bedroom deserve a mention, too. Both bedrooms have air conditioning, which is handy for when the temperature rises. And when you feel like exploring, this villa is ideally placed. Port Grimaud is just a five-minute drive, while Saint-Tropez is also easily reached by car. Not that you’ve got any need to venture far from the villa. The scent of Provence’s lavender fields fill the air as you explore the four hectares of terraced gardens, take a swim in the outdoor pool, and end the day in the alfresco dining area. You’ll have a hard time tearing yourself away from this secluded spot for your journey home, never mind a day trip.

At this heavenly waterfront home in Cap d’Antibes, relax in style surrounded by the sights and sounds of the sea. Inside, white-washed walls, sharp black accents and smooth grey tiles create a modern Mediterranean ambience in the living room space. Upstairs, you’ll find each room has its own story to tell with a plethora of unique details such as curved window frames, a rock wall installation and colourful tiles. 

We can’t decide which we love more – the roof terrace for alfresco dining or the outdoor swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing swim at daybreak. Though it’s tempting to spend your afternoons lounging on the balcony beguiled by the ocean views, we recommend taking the leisurely thirty-minute wander into the old town of Antibes – the Musée Picasso is well worth a visit – or strolling along Salis Beach, a mere ten minutes from your doorstep.

Dating back to the 18th-century, this home has been thoughtfully restored into a coastal sanctuary. Spread across three floors, the rooms offer an abundance of space for families and groups to stretch out, while the garden sets the tone for leisurely days by the pool. And to ensure maximum relaxation, your host can help organise a range of extra services – including private chefs and massage treatments. From here, it’s just a short stroll to Rènecros Beach (100 metres away), while the nearest shops, restaurants and market are all within walking distance. 


Sun Dreaming 

When you stay at this apartment in La Ciotat, you’ll be just steps away from the Sunday market. It’s also under a five-minute stroll to the Old Port and fifteen minutes from La Ciotat’s beaches. The home itself has been renovated by an architect and includes a large living-dining room with a sofa bed, which guests five and six will be sleeping on. One thing to note is that there's air conditioning in the living space and the main bedroom only. There is also a children's bedroom with a bunk bed off the main bedroom, so this place is ideal for families.

If we could give a home a pass based on location alone, this address would undoubtedly get one. Not only does it sit within the Verdon National Park and a five-minute drive from the truffle markets of Aups, but it has a prime view of the mountain peaks of Massif des Maures.

Thankfully, the villa has a lot more riding in its favour other than this wonderful position. For starters, it really spoils guests when it comes to outdoor space. As well as a pair of terraces from which to admire the scenery, there's a huge garden complete with a petanque court, playground and a fountain to enjoy. Best of all, there's a swimming pool that offers a refreshing spot in which to relax during baking hot afternoons.

Once a sheepfold in a former life, the home itself is imbued with rustic charm, filled as it is with wooden ceiling beams, terracotta tiles and handsome antique furnishings. The main bathroom was once an old pigeon house – not something you get to write all that often – but today it's the very vision of relaxation with its cast iron bathtub.

When you're in the mood to see more of this beautiful landscape, there are ample walking routes in the surrounding national park, as well as opportunities for everything from climbing, paragliding, canoeing, rafting and horseback riding. The shores of Lake of Sainte-Croix are only a short drive away if you fancy pootling about in a boat or splashing about in the invitingly blue waters.

Spend relaxing days here strolling the lush grounds around you – The gardens are partially made up of vineyards and olive groves. On scorching summer afternoons, recline on the hammock with blue skies above, and have a light lunch at the stone dining table in the courtyard under the twisting grapevines. The apartment itself, though compact, is well equipped with a variety of handy amenities, including a dedicated workspace, dining area, coffee machine and a rain shower.

This home feels so much like a five-star boutique hotel, you’ll find it hard to believe you’ve got it to yourselves. Located on the Cap d’Antibes, the celeb-magnet peninsula on the Côte d'Azur between Cannes and Nice, it's a dramatic two-storey villa, topped with a 70m2 roof terrace and flanked by dozens of cypress trees. At first glance there’s a real architectural wow moment, but here clean lines don’t mean an austere or angular welcome. Step inside and there’s a real feeling of warmth and liveability, thanks to softening touches – sprawling sofas, warm wall tones, bold canvases and opulent beds. Everything has been done throughout to make the landscape a highlight, as it richly deserves. The floor-to-ceiling windows and retractable glass living room wall let in the soft Mediterranean light. This contemporary apartment is all about the location for us. There’s secure parking here, but if you don’t fancy driving on holiday, a car isn’t necessary. Many local hotspots are within walking distance and Antibes train station is a mere five-minute stroll away for adventures further afield in the Côte d'Azur. Walk to Old Antibes, the Picasso Museum or Gravette beach – there’s something for everyone here. And when dinner is calling, head to Juan-les-Pins. A stroll down the seafront promenade, lined with French eateries, awaits.

The views across the bay towards Saint-Tropez from this villa’s south-facing terrace and private pool are mesmerising. There’s plenty of space to relax and enjoy the Côte d'Azur sunshine here.
